5k: 1979 Chevy Caprice; Minty Clean

The Chevy Caprice isn't a particularly collected automobile, and frankly most that have had any money put into them are turned into some kind of heinous looking "donk" with 24 inch wheels and Superman paint job.  So, it is unusual to find a mostly stock Caprice for sale in excellent condition too!  This 1979 Chevy Caprice is a restored California car located in Mission Hills, CA and for sale $6,000 buy-it-now on ebay (currently bidding at $4,050 reserve-not-met) with 4 days to go.  (Big thanks to tip from DT regular tipper Jenny O.)

The Falcon was Ford's small car offering from 1960-1070 and was available as a coupe, sedan and wagon.  We still maintain that the Falcon is great deal compared to most 1960s cars and we love wagons, so what could be better than a combination of both?  This 1960 Ford Falcon 2-door wagon is for sale in Joliet, IL for the bargain price of $5500 via craigslist. 25k: 1997 Porsche 911 993 6spd

The Porsche 993 is the last generation of aircooled Porsche 911s and represents the high note for 911 production.  The next generation of 911 (the 996) was softer, quieter and generally sissified in every manner and super unreliable to boot!  Thirty years of constant development on the basic aircooled flat 6 and taming the tail happy chassis resulted in a fantastic car that today is priced considerably more than the next generation of 911.  This 1997 Porsche 911 6 spd is for sale in Studio City, CA for $26k asking via craigslist .

10k: 1990 Toyota Hilux 4x4 Pickup, Expedition Restoration

A super capable off roader is not something one would normally think of as a Daily Turismo per se, maybe more like an occasional rock crusher. But a 4x4 pickup or SUV with careful suspension component selection and tuning, with the right tires and without a ridiculous amount of lift, can be a fantastic daily driver for someone who wants to be ready for anything, at any time. This Toyota "Truck" (aka Hilux in the rest of the world) is a 5th-generation N50 model, the last available in the US before being replaced by the larger, cushier Tacoma. It has been extensively modified and reconditioned to a very high level; an "expedition restoration" (maybe an Restxpo-mod?) is an unusual but interesting take on a 4x4 build. Behold this 1990 Toyota Hilux listed here on the Expedition Portal forums for $9500 in Tempe, AZ.

15k Flash: Banana Yellow 1972 Toyota Celica Twin-Cam

We posted a Toyota Celica yesterday, but it was a later all-wheel-drive version when the Celica was a big moneymaker for Toyota and they were more interested profit than growing market share with enthusiasts by building fun to drive and affordable cars.  This wasn't the case in the early 1970s; Toyota needed to build cars that delivered driving fun and value - enter the first generation Celica.  This 1972 Toyota Celica twin cam is for sale in Gardena, CA for $14k via craigslist.

5k Flash: 1990 Toyota Celica All-Trac Turbo

The Toyota Celica was an affordable 'sporty' coupe from Toyota, and quite frankly a horrible car once it made the switch from rear wheel drive to front wheel drive when the fourth generation Celica debuted in 1986.  The only notable exception is the All-Trac turbo cars that combined all-wheel-drive with a turbocharged 4-banger to put some fun back into the 4 wheeled washing machines from the company founded by Kiichiro Toyoda in 1937.  This 5th generation (T180)  1990 Toyota Celica All-Trac turbo is for sale in Hartford, CT for $5,900 via craigslist.

10k Flash: 2004 BMW 330i ZHP 6-spd

BMW's E46 generation 3 series was sold from 1999 to 2005 and if you wanted the hot M3 version it was only available in 2 door trim.  Folks with little kids or the desire for a sedan had to settle for a regular 3-series, at least until the ZHP came out in 2004.  The ZHP added a 6 speed manual trans, engine tuning, suspension work and some M-sport badges to the 3 series sedan at a price considerably less than the M3.  This 2004 BMW 330i ZHP 6-spd sedan is for sale on ebay currently bidding for $6,600 reserve-not-met with a buy it now of $10,900.

Cosmetically it is hard to tell a ZHP from the standard 330i, but it does have a standard M-tech II body kit and 18 inch staggered width type 135 wheels.

DT Does SEMA 2012: Creativity Runs Rampant

Last week this DT editor traveled to the most wretched hive of scum and villainy known to man. Although the southern Nevada desert landscape does resemble the wastelands of Tatooine, we're not referring to Mos Eisley Spaceport - no, the closest place on Earth is the seething mass known as Las Vegas. For one week every fall, Sin City turns into the epicenter of the biggest car show in the country and a festival of aftermarket excess, a force to recon with in the automotive industry and the debut venue for thousands of new products every year. We are referring of course to the SEMA Show, which is an assault on the senses and sensibilities of anyone who has the terrible luck fortune to walk its halls. Not only will you find hundreds of show cars, hot rods, drift machines, and booth babes, the show can be a great place to spot one-off creations that incite reactions of confusion, awe, appreciation, and regret (that you didn't think of the idea first). With an eye towards the weirder and wackier side of the vehicles on display, we give you the best custom creations Daily Turismo could find at the 2012 SEMA Show.

Continuing our appreciation for all things powered by a V12, we need to feature a BMW since they have long offered a V12 in sedans that have since depreciated to junk yard cheap levels.  This 2001 BMW 750iL (e38 series) is powered by a V12 and for sale in Harker Heights, TX for $8500 via craiglist.

15k Flash: 1994 Mercedes SL600 V12 R129 low miles

Car enthusiasts nuts have all kinds of lists, ones that they fill with requirements for cars that they must own before they die.  Surely a good list would include, an Alfa Romeo, a track car, a new car, something with a GM LS V8 shoehorned where it doesn't belong, and a V12. Today we aren't going help with the earlier parts of the list, only the V12.  This 1994 Mercedes SL600 R129 chassis is equipped with a 6 liter V12, has a shockingly low 57k miles and is sale for a premium $14k via craigslist in Toccoa, GA.

The R129 Chassis is one of the last of the reliable era Mercedes and was the choice for filthy rich balding men 20 years ago.  It is only available with an automatic transmission, but its sleek styling and big V12 make it a great weekend cruiser.

10k: 1969 Iso Rivolta Fidia

Iso Rivolta was an Italian automobile manufacturer active from the 1940s through 1970s best known for the Isetta 'bubble' city-car.  Before going bankrupt in 1974 Iso built a questionably styled sedan called the Fidia that cost more than an equivalent Rolls Royce in its day, but today the remaining few that haven't been sent to the crusher or rusted back into the earth can be had for cheap.  This 1969 Iso Fidia is for sale in Northern California currently bidding on ebay for $10,600 reserve-not-met with 2 days to go.

25k: 1992 Acura NSX

Regular readers of the Daily Turismo will be shocked to find a legitimate supercar being featured at our site - mostly because they are way too expensive, but for those who are happy with mid engine and 2 seats, you can't get much more bang/buck than the Acura NSX.  The NSX was manufactured by Honda and sold in it's Acura dealers from 1991-2005 and today can be purchased for about the price of a new Civic.  This 1992 Acura NSX Coupe is for sale in Los Angeles, CA for $25,000 buy-it-now on ebay with 2 days to go.

10k: 1992 Volvo 740 w/ LS1 V8 Swap

 The Volvo 700 series was launched in 1982 as a replacement for Volvo's aged 200 series, but never edged out its younger brother and the 200 lasted past the end of 700 series production.  Available in coupe, sedan and wagon, the 700 bottom line was the 740 (called 745 in wagon trim) and was powered by a small 4 cylinder engine.  This 1992 Volvo 740 is powered by a GM LS1 V8 and is for sale in Fallbrook, CA currently bidding on ebay for $9,999 with a buy-it-now of $12k. 5k: 1956 Willys Wagon with Toyota Chassis and Chevy V8 - Project

 The Willys Jeep Wagon was the father of the modern SUV, the first mass marketed all-steel wagon with off-road capabilities and is a cool retro ride today.  The Toyota Hilux pickup was a more modern interpretation of that original paradigm, but lacked sufficient power from its 4 cylinder engine.  But if you could Frankenstein the cool factor of the Willys, usability of the Hilux and power it with a proper engine...well...you'd have this 1956 Willys Wagon with Toyota Chassis and Chevy V8 for sale in Castro Valley, CA offered on ebay for $2,900 buy-it-now.

10k Flash: 1997 Mazda RX-7 FD w/ LS1 Swap

 The Mazda RX-7 was in its 3rd generation in 1992 when the FD was released- with curvy Japanese styling, a front mid-ships layout and a turbocharged Wankel rotary engine.  It was a fantastic combination, except for the horrible reliability of a rotary multiplied by the abysmal record of a 90's turbocharger..and basically every FD RX-7 you will find with more than 70k miles has had a new engine or two.  Many today have been replaced with simple, reliable and lightweight Chevy LS series small block V8s.  This 1993 Mazda RX-7 with Chevy LS1 engine is for sale in San Jose, CA currently bidding on ebay for $8,100 reserve-not-met.

This RX-7 is still wearing its factory Blaze Red paint job and looks decent in the photos.  90s era Mazda's were not known for great paint quality, so a thorough check for signs of peeling clearcoat is important - especially check roof, hood and trunk lid.  

5k All-Saints Day: 1970 Volvo P1800, Low Miles

The Saint was a British TV show from the 1960s staring Roger Moore as a James Bond mixed with Robin Hood character.  The main character's ride was a white Volvo P1800 and it was a regular part of the show.  Today in celebration of All Saints Day, the Roman Catholic celebration of those who have attained the beatific vision in Heaven, we are going to celebrate with nothing but Volvo P1800s.  While not exactly beatific in its vision - this first 1970 Volvo P1800 is available in Epping, NH via craigslist and is claimed to have only 14,000 original miles.
