See Five Season: 2001 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

Ah, the C5 Corvette Z06. The cheapest way to go fast, and the fastest way to lose your license. It is a formidable track machine, tuned by the wizards at Chevy's performance group to take the standard C5 from fast enough to faster. When introduced in 2001, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 was the fastest production car for less than $100k, and today, a used Z06 is the fastest stock car for less than $15k in just about any competition environment (drag, track, autox, etc). 1. Someone dropped acid on the door = Salvage title still seems to be a good deal/bang for the buck !

  2. The C5 Z06 is definetly on my very short list if I blow up the current track day car. Heck just to daily for $12.9K. what can you find for that money as fast or interesting? Point out the 2001 at 385hp vs. the 2002-2004 at 405hp are actually a touch more desirable. The later models had lighter valve springs which are known to fail. Per the forums these are easy to get 45-50 additional HP. Long tube headers, true cold air intake, piggy back/reflash tune. Done. I think this one might be a pass, the nitto drag radials make me think the 50 miles a week are a 1/4 mile a time on Friday night. For a few thousand more and 100K miles less this looks like a win. 3. Are these enjoyable as street cars tho? I reacted a C6 a few years back and it was just so wide for city streets and limits so high that it was just kind of a cruiser.

  4. That yellow paint and red interior is obnoxious, over the top, and reminds me of that old rhyme about how to identify a coral snake. Not that I'm entirely certain making your Corvette obnoxious, over the top, and giving it a venomous snake theme is bad.
