The Saab 96 is known for its WRC victories in the International Swedish Rally (1973 with Stig Blomqvist/Arne Hertz, and 1976 with Per Eklund/Björn Cederberg) which was in no part due to the cars basic ruggedness and front-wheel-drive traction in icy conditions...HOWEVER..that doesn't mean it would make a good monster truck. Ford has never had much of a reputation for building small cars in the USA. The first generation euro import Fiesta was only sold over here from 1978-1981. These cars were wildly popular in Europe and seem to be a far superior drivers car than the Escort that followed it. The Alpine was released in 1959 as part of the Rootes Group offering in their Sunbeam brand, but it used a modified floorpan from a Hillman Husky sedan but with a stylish convertible body. A few years later the Alpine got legs when the Tiger version was released with V8 power, but those are now traded between wealthy collectors and now regular folks have to settle for the 4-banger version.
