The Third Newman-Letterman V8lvo? 1995 Volvo 960 V8 with Puffer

The most famous Volvo wagon (or wagons) of all time is the V8 swapped 960 wagon that Paul Newman owned -- the saga of this car was told years later by Dave Letterman and in 2014 Newman's wagon was found in a cheap used car lot -- that story was broken here on DT.  All built at the same time by Converse Engineering, Letterman's car was red, Newman's car was grey and a third car was built for Ian Warburg in Manhattan...and that car was blue.  So..imagine my surprise when this Kenne Bell puffer equipped 960 V8 Volvo comes through the tips line located somewhere in New York.  The blue paint is faded..but the under-hood details are so similar...the only question is the white interior shown in this old Jalopnik article seems to have been swapped for black...but some of the underhood details are so similar. Could this be the third of the three cars built by Converse for Newman/Letterman/et al? Ford V8 Giant Killer: 1965 MG MGB

You know what is better than taking a fancy-shamncy sports car with dual electric motors and a huge car payment to your local track day? Well...most anything...because wadding your Ferramginesla into turn 9 at Willow Springs isn't fun...but driving a pile of crap custom that is faster than overpriced "sports cars" is a bucket of  pygmy marmosets worth 'o' fun. Ford V8 Swap: 1991 Nissan 300ZX

The 300ZX was a 2 door sports car from Nissan during the great Japanese sports car boom of the 1990s and featured a host of technology in a Isao Sono & Toshio Yamashita designed body.  In recent years the 300ZX's competitors (Supra, NSX, 993) have gone through their depreciation curves and the good original ones are commanding prices near original MSRP, but for some reason the 300ZX (and Mitsu's 3000GT/Dodge Stealth) have been floundering in used Mustang GT waters.  What gives? Ford V8 Powered: 1970 Datsun 240Z

The original Datsun 240Z was a nicely styled 2-seater from the land of the rising sun.  It combined the basic sportiness of a unibody chassis with MacPherson struts up front and an independent coil spring (upper Chapman struts, lower wishbones) rear with a 2.4 liter inline-6 that split the difference between 4-cylinder zippiness and V8 grumbliness.  However...there are times when you might want that V8 torque and this next example has been transformed into a real pony car.  Find this 1970 Datsun 240Z offered for $11995 in Bellevue, WA via craigslist. HiPo V8 Powered: 1973 Triumph TR6

The Triumph TR6 was a small roadster introduced by those crazy Brits in Coventry in 1969 to replace the TR5/TR250 which was really just a slight change to the TR4...etc etc.  The TR6 did last thru 1976 when it was replaced with the wedge shaped and unloved TR7 and it was always powered by a decently powerful inline-6...until today.  Find this 1973 Triumph TR6 V8 offered for $12,500 in Julian, CA via craigslist.  Tip from Rock On!

Bye-Turbo: 1987 Maserati Biturbo Spyder w/ Ford V8

By Matt -- Living with a Maserati Biturbo is to us in this small circle of obscure cars as carving your own blowfish is to amateur home chefs; something your primal instincts tell you to try but your friends and better judgement both say ‘no’. On paper, how could two turbos on a multivalve Italian V6 in a relatively light, rear drive chassis possibly go wrong? And then, sitting Indian-style on the side of the road in the rain, head in your hands as the fire department is hosing down the last of the smoldering, molten copper and plastic, you mumble aloud “fine…they were right”. Let’s let the others learn that lesson for us while we buy small-block-Ford swapped examples like this 1987 Maserati Biturbo Spyder on L.A. craigslist for $3,000.

289 V8 Powered: 1959 Austin-Healey 3000

Foxerati Quattroporstang: 1982 Maserati Quattroporte

The Giorgetto Giugiaro designed Maserati Quattroporte was built on a chassis closely related to the Maserati Kyalami, which was derived from the De Tomaso Longchamp and the Tom Tjaarda designed De Tomaso Deauville.  It was powered by a few crazy complex Maser V8s which cost a fortune when the fail, so today's example seem very interesting.  Find this 1982 Maserati Quattroporte here on eBay bidding for $8,099 reserve-not-met located in Monterey, CA with 3 days to go.

Speedy Delivery: Custom 1979 Ford Pinto Wagon

Saucy S12: 1984 Nissan 200SX V8

The S12 generation Nissan Silvia was released in North America with the lame sounding 200SX name, but it was a decent handling rear-drive sports coupe.  Unfortunately Nissan didn't want to cannibalize sales from the profitable 300ZX so it was never given a powerplant more powerful than the non-turbo VG30, but that doesn't mean you can't get a souped up example.  Find this 1984 Nissan 200SX with Ford V8 offered for $4,800 near Worcester (pronounced whooo-staaaahhh), MA via craigslist.
