Not Cliché : 1969 Ford Cortina Mk2

As I write up the posts for today, I've got Mecum Auctions 2018 at Indianapolis on the tele, and it makes for an interesting juxtaposition to the thing looking at me on the screen. The '65 GTO crossing the block (that sold for $21k) is a nice car...in fact, all of the cars hitting the block at a big name auction are "nice" but they are mostly lacking in character, individuality, or (critically) affordability. These things are bloody expensive and most are the typical cliché cars you'd find at any Friday night car show, so why not get something like this 1969 Ford Cortina Mk2 offered for $1600 in Corona, CA via craigslist. Back Again So Soon? 1969 Ford Cortina Estate V8

If you spend each day staring at classic cars for sale around the web, you might end of up thinking you've seen it all. And sometimes it seems that all of these cars are the same -- like this 1969 Ford Cortina V8 offered for $8,500 in Moorpark, CA via craigslist -- it really looks like the repeat offender we featured a few times back in 2014. by Matt -- Nearly 50 years prior to the current Brexit, LeavEngland, Byerland, or whatever the current state Euro State bifurcation tagline is, this Ford got the itch and peaced out. No matter your political leanings or if you care at all, we can all agree on one thing. This beautiful and quirky English Ford is the Marmite to our automotive whatever-you-put-Marmite-on. 2k: Whip Or Wreck: 1969 Ford Cortina 1600 GT

Surf craigslist (or eBay) and you'll see an incredible variety of ad styles. I typically stay away from CAP'T CAPSLOCK, Fuzzy McPhotos and the thumb over the license plate guy, while ads with clear pics/description are worth a look. Unfortunately, the best deals you will ever find on a classic are often from photo-free ads with a few lines and a dirt cheap price. Find this 1969 Ford Cortina 1600 GT offered here on craigslist in Corona, CA for $2,500 located in Corona, CA.Friday, November 21, 2014
5k: Survivor Status: 1969 Ford Cortina

The 2nd generation Ford Cortina was released in 1968 by Ford of Britain with the catchy slogan: "The New Cortina is more Cortina." The statement was true because the compact sedan used the same Kent inline-4 power up front and simple lightweight formula that makes it a great competitor to the BMW 2002. Surprisingly, the prices of Cortinas haven't shot up like those of the 2002 in the last few years, but you never know what will happen in the future. Find this 1969 Ford Cortina here on craigslist, offered for $5,100 in Thousand Oaks, CA. Tip from FuelTruck.Monday, November 10, 2014
10k: Repeat Offender: 1969 Ford Cortina Deluxe Estate Mk II

It is hard to avoid your impulsive instinct whenever you see a well priced classic, but what about the car that has been for sale for months and just never moves. Does it set off your lion impulse to chase after a wounded duck and go for blood with a serious lowball offer? Here is today's wounded duck -- a European Ford Cortina wagon with a Ford V8 swapped into the front that has been on craigslist for almost a year. Find this 1969 Ford Cortina Deluxe Estate Mk II offered for $9995 in Vista, CA via craigslist. Tip from ANCMatt.Saturday, September 13, 2014
5k: Ford V8 Powered: 1967 Ford Cortina Mk 2

Two Cortinas in a row -- what sort of madness is going on here? Okay, this site isn't turning into the Daily Cortina, and the truth is that we only stumbled upon this next one after the first Cortina had been written up and was waiting its turn in the queue. Find this 1967 Ford Cortina MK2 with Ford V8 power offered for $5,300 in Stockton, CA via craigslist. Tip from Andrey. Friday, September 12, 2014
10k: Repeat Offender: 1968 Ford Cortina Cosworth V6
The 2nd generation Ford Cortina was built by Ford of Britain starting in 1968 with a slogan "The New Cortina is more Cortina." It used the same formula of Kent inline-4 power up front and simple lightweight goodness everywhere else. Today's example is a highly modified track version of the Cortina and it has been featured here before. Find this 1968 Ford Cortina with Cosworth V6Saturday, April 26, 2014
15k: What Gives? 1969 Ford Cortina Deluxe Estate Mk II

Today's next feature was under the DT radar a few months back, but for whatever reason (probably a batch of freshly El Camino-ized something-or-others arrives on craigslist) we didn't post it. Naturally, the car was panegyrically written up on bringatrailer.com in February of this year to much acclaim, accolades, back slapping and joyous trumpets playing a chorus of hallelujah in the comments. So, the big question...why hasn't it sold? Further perplexing, the asking price has gone..up...? Anyway, find this 1969 Ford Cortina Deluxe Estate Mk II with Ford 302 V8 and T5 transmission offered for $13,495. Sunday, February 9, 2014
5k: Ford Power: 1965 Ford Cortina 302 V8

Most of the time when you stumble across an interesting car sold from a small dealer on ebay, the quick check of his other inventory might net an interesting car or two, but seldom does it contain a bounty of DT priced classics. Ebay seller ebenzz, located in the hot rings of Jupiter, Florida is one of those sellers - and his current ebay storeThursday, August 15, 2013
5k: British Bulldog: 1968 Ford Cortina GT
The second generation Ford Cortina was launched in 1966 with the marketing slogan "The New Cortina is more Cortina" and it included the same classic Cortina formula with an overhead valve "Kent" inline-4 up front and rear wheel drive. The 1967 Cortina was the most popular car sold in Britian in that model year, an not insignificant feat for Ford in the 60s. Find this 1968 Ford Cortina GT for sale in McKinleyville, CA currently bidding near $2.5k reserve not met or for $5,500 Buy it Now with a few hours to go.Wednesday, April 3, 2013
5k: Savage Apex Hunter: 1968 Ford Cortina MkII Essex Race Car; TrackRat

The Ford Cortina was a compact sedan built by Ford of Britian and exported around the world to compete with BMW 2002, Chevy Corvair and similar sporty small sedans. The Cortina isn't commonly seen on this side of the Atlantic, but a welcome change from the typical overweight Ford from the 60s and 70s. Find this 1968 Ford Cortina MkII Essex Track Rat for sale in Sonoma, CA currently bidding for $5,000 on ebay with 4 days to go.Thursday, October 18, 2012
10k DT Flash: 1965 Ford Cortina

The Ford Cortina Mk 1 was a lightweight (1700 lbs) sedan built by Ford in the United Kingdom from 1962-1966. This 1965 Ford Cortina GT is for sale on ebay, currently bidding at $9,000 reserve-not-met with 3 days to go and is located in Santa Barbara, CA. It is powered by a 1.5 liter inline 4 cylinder engine that has been hopped up to put out 84 horsepower and mated to a 4-speed manual transmission powering the rear wheels. The Ford Cortina is one of our favorite 60s hipster two-door sedans and this particular example looks to be in great shape inside and out.
