Price of Exclusivity: 1937 BSA Scout Deluxe

What does it cost to get into something "unique" these days?  I'll tell ya -- you won't turn any heads with another late model Moostang or a '57 Chebby at a car show these days and most classics are so overpriced that you need to get into something funky to find a good price-to-value ratio.  So dig deep, dig into the history of the automobile..and get something pre-war, like this 1937 BSA Scout offered for $18000 in Ft Myers, FL via craigslist. Tip from Dascpcu.

Ain't Easy Being Green: 1967 Toyota Corona 1900 Deluxe

I'd always rather buy a nicely restored or original condition survivor than a car that has had a cheap respray or is a pile of parts...but this next car appears to be a running/driving example of an unusual classic that just needs a paint job and some TLC.  How bad could it be? Find this 1967 Toyota Corona 1900 Deluxe here on eBay bidding for $1,175 reserve-not-met with 2 days to go, located in Moreno Valley, CA.

Classic Iron: 1969 Toyota Corona Deluxe

The Toyota Corona was the bottom of the line for Toyota's North American lineup until 1969 when the Corolla was introduced. That doesn't mean that the Corona is a bad car, just that it was a compact and not equipped with a bunch of power options...but for a Japanese classic this isn't bad because it means less stuff to break. Find this 1969 Toyota Corona Deluxe offered for $7,400 in Newburgh, NY via craigslist.  From Cory.

Str8 Ate: 1952 Packard 250 Deluxe

This next car comes from tipper John H who writes:  Not my car, just something I spotted on CL. It's a rather stodgy but handsome beast in grey and chrome and white sidewalls. Looks to be very original and absolutely immaculate - 65 years old and cleaner than any car I've ever owned (but then I've never owned a car with only 53K). Gotta love the herringbone upholstery and not just one, but two sets of fuzzy dice. Located in east-central Wisconsin, not far from Green Bay.  Find this 1952 Packard 250 Deluxe offered for $6,500 in Shawano/Clintonville/Wausau & other unpronounceable parts of Wisconsin via craigslist.

Wait for It: 1975 Trabant 601S DeLuxe

Especially after surreptitiously planting their music on all of our mobile devices, it can be generally agreed that the best thing U2 ever did was bring the Trabant into the view of the masses. Once being a brand new 20-year-old car requiring a 20 year wait, the Trabbi is now a cultural icon.  Find this 1975 Trabant 601S for sale in Everett, WA for $3,400 via craigslist.

2-Door Classic: 1969 Toyota Corona Deluxe

A few weeks ago I wrote a story about a Corona 2-door hardtop and mentioned that you don't see many of the 2-door versions for sale (for whatever reason), naturally this means the DT inbox would be flooded with the exact car that I claimed was rarely seen.  Find this 1969 Toyota Corona here on eBay bidding for $3,450 with 3 days to go, located in Huntington Beach, CA. Tip from Rod S.

Blue Beast: 1940 Plymouth Road King Touring Sedan

Cars from the 1940s aren't common spotted on the roads today, but they make an interesting choice if you want to drive a vintage automobile.  Cars from the 1930s are just about the oldest cars that you could conceivably use as a daily driver, but you are going to spend the bulk of your time searching for oddball parts, but by the 1940s things were a little more standard and you might be able to reach freeway speeds without too much trouble.  Find this 1940 Plymouth Road King Touring Sedan offered for $8,500 in Ft Myers, FL via craigslist.  Tip from Dascpcu.

1939 Dodge D-11 Deluxe Coupe

You can easily spend serious coin on a pre-war coupe, but why?  Save your cash for something else and instead look for a marque that isn't hyper-inflated by the nefarious market forces of bean baby auto collectors.  Furthermore, you can't really get into something Pebble Beach worthy without spending $100k minimum, so why on earth would you ever spend $50k-75k on a slow/original classic when you could spend $15k for 99% of the same experience? Find this 1939 Dodge D-11 Deluxe Coupe offered for $14,500 in Huntington Beach, CA via craigslist. This post is part of DT's 2016 Birthday Celebration of 100 cars; enjoy the ride!

Needs More Meatball: 1978 Toyota Corona Deluxe Wagon

If you don't understand the appeal of the vintage Japanese wagon you are not alone, because most normal people look at these and just imagine the washing machine it could be recycled into.  However, there are loads of folks who treasure the classic look of a Japanese sedan/wagon even if they aren't particularly fast on the road today.  Find this 1978 Toyota Corona Deluxe Wagon offered for $4,500 in Central Oregon via craigslist.  Tip from Kaibeezy.

Brexited the Euro Zone: 1968 Ford Cortina Deluxe Estate

by Matt -- Nearly 50 years prior to the current Brexit, LeavEngland, Byerland, or whatever the current state Euro State bifurcation tagline is, this Ford got the itch and peaced out. No matter your political leanings or if you care at all, we can all agree on one thing. This beautiful and quirky English Ford is the Marmite to our automotive whatever-you-put-Marmite-on. Find this 1968 Ford Cortina Deluxe Estate offered for $4500 in Lansing, MI via craigslist.

5k: Mint Green Barikan: 1967 Toyota Corona Deluxe

One of the secrets to driving a cool vintage car for low bucks is to pick a car that is an oddball because the selling price of nice examples will be appropriately lower than a popular marque/model.  Don't go so out in left field that the manuals are only available in some long forgotten Scandinavian dialect, but pick a car where a few grand gets you something in great shape...like Toyota's original Corona.  Find this  1967 Toyota Corona Deluxe here on eBay currently bidding for $3,500 reserve-not-met with 1 day to go, located in Reading, PA.

2k: War Wagon: 1966 Ford Falcon Deluxe

The third generation Ford Falcon was as close as you could get to a Mustang wagon when it was first introduced in 1966.  It shared much of its drivetrain, suspension, brakes, and interior bits with Ford's successful pony car, but was positioned as a cheaper alternative for the family man.  Find this  1966 Ford Falcon 4 Door Deluxe Wagon 289 here on eBay currently bidding for$1,900 with 6 days to go, located in Chester, NY.

5k: 80% Rebuilt: 1970 Subaru 360 Deluxe

The list of cars that make yesterday's Volkswagen Rabbit seem fast and appear macho is short...but the Suburu 360 Ladybug is guaranteed a spot.   The Subaru 360 microcar was built by Fuji Heavy Industries from 1958-1971.  It has a similar rear engine layout, roomy interior and brutal slowness of the Fiat 500 classic, but somehow it misses the hipster love that is thrown at the Italian car...which is fine because nice examples are cheap.  Find this 1970 Subaru 360 Deluxe offered for $8,000 in Gardena, CA via craigslist.  Tip from FuelTruck.

15k: What Gives? 1969 Ford Cortina Deluxe Estate Mk II

Today's next feature was under the DT radar a few months back, but for whatever reason (probably a batch of freshly El Camino-ized something-or-others arrives on craigslist) we didn't post it. Naturally, the car was panegyrically written up on bringatrailer.com in February of this year to much acclaim, accolades, back slapping and joyous trumpets playing a chorus of hallelujah in the comments.  So, the big question...why hasn't it sold?  Further perplexing, the asking price has gone..up...?  Anyway, find this 1969 Ford Cortina Deluxe Estate Mk II with Ford 302 V8 and T5 transmission offered for $13,495.

5k: You Want Fries With That? 1962 DKW Junior de Luxe

You might expect something called the DKW Junior Deluxe to come from an establishment that uses a pedophile clown, slutty heiress or creepy wax statue monarch for a spokesman, but the Junior Deluxe was an automobile built from 1959 to 1965 by Auto Union AG.  It is also one of the most unconventional 60's cars you will ever find that will have Saab 96 owners scratching their heads in confusion.  Find this 1962 DKW Junior de Luxe currently bidding for $9,500 with less than one day to go (zero bids), located in Spain.
