Meanwhile...In Soviet Florida: 1990 Trabant 1.1

When I get a tip from one of DT's regular tippers (you guys know who I'm talking about) I always pay attention.  But when I get a tip from TWO of DT's regulars...well...I have two choices -- one is to drop everything and buy the car -- and the second is to write it up.  My wife would kill me if I bought a Trabant...so I'll have to write it up for one of the other future divorcees in the audience. Find this 1990 Trabant 1.1 offered for $3800 in Naples, FL via craigslist. Tip from Dascpcu and Rock On!

Wait for It: 1975 Trabant 601S DeLuxe

Especially after surreptitiously planting their music on all of our mobile devices, it can be generally agreed that the best thing U2 ever did was bring the Trabant into the view of the masses. Once being a brand new 20-year-old car requiring a 20 year wait, the Trabbi is now a cultural icon.  Find this 1975 Trabant 601S for sale in Everett, WA for $3,400 via craigslist.

Small Bloc: 1974 Trabant 601S

Government secrecy, restricted travel, propaganda and the passage of time make it difficult for westerners to know just what life was like on the other side of Iron Curtain during the Cold War. We are left with accounts from the people who lived there, remaining structures and relics of the era. One such relic is this 1974 Trabant 601S.  Find it here on eBay for sale in Naples, FL for $5,500 buy-it-now.

5k: Glasnostic: 1989 Trabant 601S

The Trabant 601 was a small passenger sedan from the Soviet side of the Berlin Wall.  It was the Deutsche Demokratische Republik (East Germany) equivalent of the Volkswagen Beetle and produced in staggering numbers.  This next feature is one of the almost 3,000,000 Trabis to leave the production line in Zwickau, Germany.  Find this 1989 Trabant 601S offered for $6,000 in Santa Cruz, CA via craigslist. Tip from Kaibeezy.
