ShortVan: 1993 Volkswagen Eurovan

This next car comes as a tip from Kester who writes: On my shortlist of possible VW Eurovans.  Ohhh...zing!  Hacking 3 feet of length out of your van sorta defeats the purpose of having a van in the first place...but given the choice betwix this and a Smart Car...I'd drive this short bus. Handling will be sketchier than the time I replaced my steering coupler with slinky, but the muppet skin seat covers will absorb any pooh that might leak out when you change lanes on the highway.  Find this 1993 Volkswagen Eurovan offered for $1200 in St. Cloud, MN via craigslist.

The Spirit of Thankfullness: What Are You Thankful For?

Happy Thanksgiving to all you Turkey lovers out in cyber space...I think I want to dedicate today's Turkey day post to being thankful.  And I'd like to know what you are thankful for, but first I'm going to unveil the turkey...here it is...this 1971 Volkswagen Mini Camaro Z28 project offered for $3700 somewhere near Portland, OR.

Meanwhile...In Soviet Florida: 1990 Trabant 1.1

When I get a tip from one of DT's regular tippers (you guys know who I'm talking about) I always pay attention.  But when I get a tip from TWO of DT's regulars...well...I have two choices -- one is to drop everything and buy the car -- and the second is to write it up.  My wife would kill me if I bought a Trabant...so I'll have to write it up for one of the other future divorcees in the audience. Find this 1990 Trabant 1.1 offered for $3800 in Naples, FL via craigslist. Tip from Dascpcu and Rock On!

Storm Tracker Live Now: 1991 Geo Storm GSi

This next car comes from John M who writes: Geo Storm GSI. Looks pretty! Claimed 280,000 miles and "Lotus Elan suspension." Seller appears to have a Geo Tracker in the background... Good sign, or an indication of possible mental health conditions?  Find this 1991 Geo Storm GSI offered for $1500 in Richmond, VA via craigslist.

Wherever You Go, There You Are: 1986 Yugo GV

A few years after Malcolm Bricklin made a decent amount of money importing small Subaru cars in the USA, he launched his own auto company, which made the DeLoreanesque SV-1.  The SV-1 was a cool car, but was arguably a financial failure, so Mr Bricklin went back to doing what he did best: importing cheap cars for the US economy car market.  Except for the next project he didn't find a reliable Japanese partner and instead partnered with the Serbian based Zastava Automobiles....and the rest is a punchline to every other joke.  Find this 1986 Yugo GV here on eBay bidding for $3000 with 1 day to go, located in Minnesota City, MN.

Pygmy Pony: 1997 Mazda Miatastang

I know...I know...the world is a strange place.  And people are motivated by different things across the spherical globe we call planet earth...but for the life of me...I couldn't understand why someone would invest 100s of hours of time into transforming an old Miata into a Mustang...until I remember that old Miata's are cheap and Mustangs are wicked.  So yeah.  This makes sense now.** Find this 1997 Mazda Miatastang offered for $9,800 in Salem, OH via autotrader.com -- tip from Amos.

Full Time 4WD Turbo: 1987 Subaru GL

This next car comes as a tip from Jeff S who writes: Turbo Subies last forever...er...not really but this is interesting.  I have to admit that this machine does have some interesting street cred regarding its turbo, hatch, manual trans, and push button hi-lo 4WD.  Find this 1987 Subaru GL offered for $2,500 in Eastern West Virginia via craigslist...which can't be much more than the seller paid for it about a year ago.

Cylinders Half Full: 1991 Ford Mustang LX

The third generation Ford Mustang, commonly called the Fox Body, was sold from 1979 through 1993. Only One Around: 1954 Moskvitch 400

What happens when you take the design of the pre-war German built Opel Kadett and combine it with the capabilities of the Moscovskiy Zavod Malolitrazhnyh Avtomobiley (Moscow Factory for Making Small Cars) and the direction from Joseph Stalin himself...?  It isn't entirely clear to me, but I'm sure it involved many knocks on doors in the middle of the night before the Moskvitch 400 got to 50 mph.  Find this 1954 Moskvitch 400 offered for $3,950 in Hunlock Creek, PA via craigslist. From Cory.

Fear This: 1989 Geo Metro Van

The Geo Metro was the product of a joint venture between GM and Suzuki from back in the 1990s.  It wasn't the worst car ever built (cough cough L31 Nissan Altima...) but driving one isn't a good experience unless you are an automotive masochist (ahem...cough Kaibeezy...cough) so this next one has been modified to make it worth a second glance.  Find this 1989 Geo Metro Van offered for $5,500 in San Lorenzo, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Smokey Bandit: 1978 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Regency

I hate to sound like yet another hater in the audience...but I'm just gonna say that I REALLY find it incredible to believe that a 1978 Oldsmobile with the original Diesel 350 cubic inch V8 is still on the road...particularly given the fact that the owner seems to think the car is called a "Recency?"  Find this 1978 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Regency offered for $4,975 in Louisville, KY via craigslist.

Tuned by Lotus: 1989 Isuzu I-Mark RS

The Isuzu I Mark is part of the GM '80s compact car family, built by Isuzu but sold by GM with the name Gemini.  The 2nd generation styling (1985-1990) was started by noted Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro (known for such designs as the DeTomaso Mangusta, Iso Griffo, 'the' Delorean, Ferrari 250GT) but changes demanded by the bottom line driven bean counters at GM caused such a tiff with the Italian master of design that he disavowed any relationship with the car.  Find this 1988 Isuzu I-Mark RS here on eBay bidding for $1,750 with 3 days to go, located in Knoxville, TN.

HP Sauce: 1980 Porsche 924

People ask me why I'm such a freak when it comes to cars.  I don't have a good answer, but my mom always says that I wasn't dropped on my head and that I was obsessed with cars at a young age, but for whatever reason...I like them odd.  Wierd.  Brown.  Slow.  Horrible.  Yup...winner, winner, liver & onions dinner.  Find this 1980 Porsche 924 offered for $2000 in Ventura, CA via craigslist.  Tip from Sean S.

Built On Chevy G20 Chassis: 1952 Divco Milk Truck

The classic Volkswagen Van is cool because it is slow and terrible, so it only makes sense that a Divco milk truck is even cooler, because these things are glacially slow.  However, this next one is sitting on top of a 70s Chevy Van chassis, so it has some modern convenience and speed, but still maintains the classic looks of a 50s delivery truck.  Find this 1952 Divco Milk Truck offered for $14,400 in Los Angeles, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Tastes Like Chicken: 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Clone

I didn't know this until recently, but if you go to Subway and ask for a chicken sandwich, you get something that looks like chicken, but isn't really if you examine the DNA.  What is it?  Who knows.  But it reminds me of what you find around the car shows across America, cars that aren't quite what they look like. Find this 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Clone here on eBay bidding for $12,100 in West Creek, NJ via craigslist.
