The Cony 360 was a micro car/truck/van built by the Aichi Machine Industry Co, which built aircraft carriers before and during the war.  Legend has it that Airchi was the recipient of German technology between the two World Wars because the Germans were limited in what they could design/produce and had to find an outlet for their engineering efforts. Ladybuggin: 1969 Subaru 360 Micro Car

Billionaire investor/car guy/Yugo lover Malcom Bricklin first started importing the Subaru 360 in 1968, where he sold them for a starting price of $1,297.  US importation of the 360 ended in 1969, shortly after the muckrakers at Consumer Reports labeled the lightweight as "Not Acceptable" due to safety concerns.  Find this 1969 Subaru 360 Micro Car bidding here on eBay bidding for $4,888 with a few hours to go, located in Reading, PA.

Taco Tuesday: 1975 Bultaco Pursang 360

If you grew up in rural or suburban America in the 60's or 70's your first experience with powered wheels that you could control by yourself was probably with a dirt bike.  Back then you could ride all over trails near where you lived and there was probably a motocross track nearby.  You also had a wide range of bike manufacturers to choose from beyond the big Japanese 3.  Bultaco was a Spanish bike manufacturer known for their two stroke enduro, motocross and trials bikes from the late 50's to the early 80's.  Bultaco's premier model was the Pursang.  Not only fun to say, it was powerful and had excellent handling.  Today, $5K isn't going to buy you much on 4 wheels, but for a little over $5K you can buy a restored dirt bike from the 70's.  It won't be so big of an investment that you will feel bad about using it as intended.  Find this 1975 Bultaco Pursang 360 on Craiglist in Watsonville, CA

 The list of cars that make yesterday's Volkswagen Rabbit seem fast and appear macho is short...but the Suburu 360 Ladybug is guaranteed a spot.   The Subaru 360 microcar was built by Fuji Heavy Industries from 1958-1971.  It has a similar rear engine layout, roomy interior and brutal slowness of the Fiat 500 classic, but somehow it misses the hipster love that is thrown at the Italian car...which is fine because nice examples are cheap.  Find this 1970 Subaru 360 Deluxe offered for $8,000 in Gardena, CA via craigslist.  Tip from FuelTruck.

 The Subaru Sambar was introduced in 1961 as Japan's first Keitora (軽トラ) or kei class truck.  The Sambar was based on the Subaru 360 platform and was powered by a small 2-cylinder 2-stroke engine mounted low and in the back -- which makes the Sambar about as close as you can get to half of a VW Bus without taking out your hacksaw.  Find this 1970 Subaru Sambar offered for $5,500 buy-it-now on ebay with 6 days to go, located in Bells, TN.

The Subaru 360 microcar was built by Fuji Heavy Industries from 1958-1971.  It shares its rear engine layout, roomy interior and brutal slowness with Volkswagen's Beetle, but is more matched with a Fiat 500 for size/comfort.
