The daddy of the modern minivan was built on a modified version of Chrysler's K-Car platform with which it shared engines and much running gear, but the backbone was something that Lee Iacocca and Hal Sperlich called the T-115 platform...which was just a beefy version of the K-car. The Chrysler minivan was billed as an alternative to the station wagon and many years later we know that it completely replaced the wagon (and is now being superceded by the 3-row SUV...but that is a story for another time) and today's example is shockingly well preserved. Kustom Kruiser: 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser

The PT Cruiser was sold by Chrysler from 2000 through 2010 to aging Costco Hawaiian shirt shoppers who picked it out of the lineup of econoboxes at their nearest mile-o-cars because it looked retro but still had the same useability and driving characteristics of a Prius. The two questions most often asked at the dealership were can I drive it in sandals and do the rainbow grateful dead stickers come from the factory? Today's PT, however, has been given the full 30's gangster treatment from an owner and it looks...well...interesting. I won't pretend that it is my cup of tea, but it looks like someone spent some serious time building this thing and it will certainly make an impression. Find this 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser offered for $7900 in Murfreesboro, TN via hemmings. Tip from Barbpaddles.Tuesday, March 31, 2020
Hemi Powaaaaaaaaaah: 2006 Chrysler 300 SRT-8

The Chrysler LX platform was launched in 2005 as rear-drive replacement for some terrible front-drive Chrysler platform which we won't even dare to mention...but the LX offered some rear-wheel-drive goodness for the Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, and Chrysler 300. This platform was launched in the middle of the much maligned Daimler-Chrysler merger era, and the LX platform was the recipient of many Mercedes-Benz parts -- E-Class 5-link suspension, S-Class front control arm, 5-Speed auto gearboxes from Mercedes...yes many Mercedes-Benz parts, and many of them from previous generation platforms...so what is old is new again. Despite the questionable origins, the LX platform did get the benefit of some serious power when Dodge let its in-house gearheads put their Hemi V8s into...well..everything. Doctor Ordered Sale: 1977 Chrysler New Yorker Brougham
If you surf craigslist on a regular basis, you've probably seen everything. People claiming all kinds of stuff that clearly isn't true (this is one of one) and then random threats director at strangers (if nobody buys it, I'm going to polish the headlights and then double the price)...but this next advert has something I've never seen before...a seller who claims he is dying and needs to dispose of his car collection in a "pre-death" estate sale so his next of kin doesn't have to bother...and while I respect the sentiment, I'm kinda horrified. Not horrified enough to NOT post this...but wow. Find this 1977 Chrysler New Yorker Brougham offered for $5400 in Live Oaks, GA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!Wednesday, January 29, 2020
Simple Project? 1971 Jensen Interceptor Mk II

Over the years, I've purchased many different project cars and they've come in various shapes/sizes/conditions...but I've always been enchanted with the idea of a project that requires only basic tools, a single parking space, and mostly elbow grease. A project that doesn't involve pulling a car off its frame, or massive rust repair, or rebuilding a fiddly vanos module...yeah...that would be a great project. Perhaps this Jensen might offer the right combination of mechanical, electrical, and hard work that could keep you busy, but not break the bank with expensive specialist work? Find this 1971 Jensen Interceptor 2 offered for $9000 in Seattle, WA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!Monday, May 27, 2019
Future Classic? 1986 Shelby Dodge Charger

Time to highlight a limited production turbocharged hatchback '80s machine because they are cheap and fun! The '80s Dodge Charger was a Dodge Omni masquerading as a Charger - an emasculated version of a once brutal tire burning muscle machine...until Carroll Shelby got his 10-gallon hat involved and made a hot version. Anything with the legendary Texas chicken farmer's name on the side (and the seats, glove box door, belts..etc) is probably gonna be worth more than scrap value in the future, so get this one while it is cheap! Find this 1986 Shelby Dodge Charger offered for $1900 in Boise, ID via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.Monday, April 29, 2019
Blue Monday: 1989 Chrysler Conquest TSI
This net car comes from Jeff who writes: When I was in high school, a friend's parents had one of these and since then I've always been a fan. My only gripe is the failed joint venture between Chrysler and Cadillac, as those seats should have never been in anything other than an Eldorado. #WTF Find this 1989 Chrysler Conquest TSI offered for $9500 in South Florida via craigslist.Friday, February 15, 2019
Trophy Car: 1991 Chrysler TC by Maserati

Tipper Erik202 may have launched Italian Week on DT, but Matt C really brought home a strong finish with the earlier Maser Coupe and then this next thing. In Matt's words: Or, want a Maserati badge on something even cheaper, that you can fix with K-car parts from your nearest junkyard? If you can live with it being mistaken for a LeBaron, and aren't like me and think the LeBaron was actually the better styling exercise, here you go: Find this 1991 Chrysler TC by Maserati offered for $3900 in Marietta, GA via craigslist.Saturday, January 26, 2019
Where's The Corinthian Leather? 1976 Chrysler Cordoba Racer

This next car is something of an oddity. I love the concept of a malaise era cruiser turned into a high speed road racer or Silver State Classic runner...but I'm not sure if I'd have removed all of that rich Corinthian leather. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that whatever anemic smog restricted V8 is long gone and this thing has a 600 horsepower Mopar 400 big block stuffed under the yellow hood...but...I think it needs an 8-track and a chandelier or something to class it up a bit. Find this 1976 Chrysler Cordoba offered for $20,000 in Emmett, ID via craigslist. Tip from Johnny Bouncewell.Wednesday, November 14, 2018
Fine Corinthian Leather: 1978 Chrysler Cordoba

This next car comes from tipper Rock On! who writes: Everyone has their fine Corinthian leather jokes every time a Cordoba is for sale. This seller is including an autographed picture from Ricardo Montalban with the sale of his car! Find this 1978 Chrysler Cordoba offered for $7250 in Bennington, NE.Monday, September 24, 2018
Rice Crispy Exhaust: 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth
One of the problems with driving a fast factory sports car (like a newish Corvette, M3, 911..etc) is that random people want to race you...which leaves you with the conundrum of winning these on-ramp derbys and looking like a rich buy-your-way-into-first-douche and losing your license as you murder innocent strangers in a fiery crash....so the best alternative is just to drive like a dowager in your fancy sports car confident that its Nurburgring track time is better than the next guy's. Alternatively you could buy a sleeper V8 powered Chevette, but then you need to convince those new Vette owners to race against you instead of driving like grandpa, and you still won't win the race because your wheels fall off and you still end up in jail after crashing into a crowd of nuns waiting for the bus. So...what you really need is a car that looks like it is fast, sounds like it is fast, makes you feel good about mashing the loud pedal, but is really slow and you barely exceed the speed limit. You need the automotive equivalent of a Harley...like this 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth here on eBay bidding for $8,100 reserve-not-met with $10,500 buy-it-now located in White Plains, NY.Thursday, August 30, 2018
Three Stars: 1988 Mitsubishi Starion

If you want a rear drive Japanese classic from the 1980s, the choice is usually between a Celica Supra, RX-7, or 240/280SX...but don't fret, because there is another Skywalker!! And this 80s Japanese classic comes from the land of the three water chestnuts. Find this 1988 Mitsubishi Starion offered for $5,500 in Chandler, AZ via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.Friday, August 10, 2018
A Cordoba By Any Other Name: 1976 Dodge Charger

Mustang lovers around the globe bemoan the launch of the 1974 Mustang II, but those pony car lovers did not have it nearly as bad as the Dodge Charger enthusiasts who've had to wait DECADES for the Charger to return to its old glory of rear-wheel-drive-ed-ness...because there was an era of darkness when the Charger went all "Thunderbird" and finally turned into a front-drive ecobox. Today's next feature comes from the time right after Richard Petty's success with the Charger, but right after it became a Cordobesq monster. Find this 1976 Dodge Charger offered for $2150 in Spokane, WA via craigslist. Tip from JB1025.Tuesday, August 7, 2018
Lounge Singer: 1983 Chrysler Imperial

If a J-body Dodge Cordoba with fine Corinthian leather seating was not luxurious enough for you, Lee Iacocca resurrected the top dog Chrysler Imperial flagship for a short run from 1981-83. The Imperial had controversial razor edge slantback styling that was as bizarre then as it is now. Iacocca pal Frank Sinatra lent his name to a special edition though the chairman of the board was supposedly none too happy when his personal car stalled out in public likely due to the finicky fuel injection. Find this 1983 Chrysler Imperial for sale in Hernando, FL for $5,500 via craigslist. Tip from Fuel Truck.Friday, May 25, 2018
Mid Engined Street Rod? 1933 Plymouth Coupe Custom

The 1933 Plymouth PC/PD was a middle of the road answer from Walter Chrysler because with it his car company offered a 6-cylinder power when Chevy had 4-cylinders and Ford offered 8. The all new 6-cylinder engine featured innovations like insert bearings for the crank, rod, and cam bearings. All of that history might be interesting, but it means nothing to this next car because it has ditched all of the original stuff and is now powered by Chrysler turbo-4 that sits behind the driver's seat. What?!? Find this 1933 Plymouth Coupe Custom offered for $17995 near Portland, OR via craigslist. Tip from Matt C.

Snorkus Maximus: 1987 Mitsubishi Starion V8 Swap

The Mitsubishi Starion/Dodge Conquest/Plymouth Conquest/Chrysler
Conquest
was a line of rear-driven sports coupes built in the 80s by Mitsubishi
in Japan. The Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler versions were just a light
re-badge to trick "domestic only" buyers into picking up something from
the land of the rising sun. The guise worked and quite a few of the
Dodge/Chrysler versions were sold and the future of Chrysler/Mitsubishi
motors eventually gave birth to Diamond Star Motors (DSM). Find this 1987 Mitsubishi Starion V8 Swap offered for $3,500 in Ft Myers, FL via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!Monday, May 1, 2017
Bowling Green: 1949 Chrysler Windsor

The '49 Windsor was Chrysler's low option offering in the full-sized segment and slotted just above the entry-level Royal but below the Saratoga, and New Yorker-- ironic given the fact that anyone with half a brain would rather live in Windsor than Saratoga or New York, but this Windsor has been given an injection of Bowling Green. Find this 1949 Chrysler Windsor with Corvette V8 offered for $3,995 in Bozeman, MT via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!
