Get 'Em While They're Cheap: 1995 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra

Production of Ford's wicked SVT Cobra started in 1993 when the boxy Fox body was still the chassis of choice, but those 1993 models are bloody expensive given their relative rarity and the fanboy entourage surrounding the Fox platform.  However, in 1994 Ford released the SN-95 Mustang SVT Cobra, which was faster and better in almost every category except boxyness, and those are still quite cheap these days.  Find this 1995 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra here on eBay offered for $4,800 buy-it-now located in Fontucky, CA.

SHELBY, SHELBY, SHELBY: 1991 Dodge Shadow Convertible

The early 1980's were a particularly dark time for performance cars.  Chrysler CEO Lee Iaccoca's product line got a kick in the ass after signing legendary car builder Carroll Shelby to work his magic. Shelby turbo charged every K-car he could get his hands on.  The party ended in 1989 with the Shadow based CSX model.  Today's car was home built by a engineer as a Shelby concept/tribute car to exceed the specs called for on the 89 CSX.  Find this 1991 Dodge Shadow Convertible for sale in Harrison Township, MI for $9,126 via craigslist. 

Carroll Shelby Tribute and Car Show 2016

This past weekend of was the 4th Annual Carroll Shelby Tribute and Car Show located at the Shelby International building in Gardena, CA.  If you like Shelby cars, this is a must see event featuring a cornucopia of Shelby Mustangs, Shelby Cobras, Ford GT40s, and even a few Shelby Dodges from the 80s.  As always the event featured a 1PM rev for Carroll (you can hear it on our video below), but this year a Spirit of Competition panel was on stage to discuss Adam Carolla's to-be-released documentary "The 24 Hour War".

The 4th annual Carroll Shelby Tribute & Car Show 2016 is at the old Shelby International HQ in Gardena, CA this Saturday May 21st from 9AM to 3PM.  I've been to this event in the past and it is a real gem of a car show.  All things Shelby from pristine Cobra convertibles to Omni GLHSs are crowded into a parking lot in an industrial park -- it is really good time.  Be sure to tune into the DT Radio Show tonight to hear Aaron Shelby (Carroll's grandson & Shelby International director) give us a sneak peak about the show.

 Legendary Texan Carroll Shelby worked closely with a number of manufacturers over the world, most famously with Ford, but equally as prolific with Chrysler in his later years, however, to the best of my knowledge he never worked with Volkswagen, which is a shame because he would have built the most awesome beach buggy style vehicle. It might not be real, but this 1969 Volkswagen Beetle Buggy Shelby Tribute offered for $18,500 in Fullerton, CA is about as close as you'll get.

Car Show Report: 2013 First Annual Carroll Shelby Tribute and Car Show Gardena, CA

Anyone remotely familiar with automobiles will know the name, man & legend that is Carroll Shelby without any fancy introductions.  The world mourned his passing in May of 2012 and the First Annual Carroll Shelby Tribute and Car Show was put on by the LASAAC and the Carroll Shelby Foundation on May 11th, 2013.  We don't need alternative reasons to wander through rows of vintage Shelby machines, but the donation to kids disease research and automotive education scholarships through CSF is certainly a bonus.
