I was, of course, bummed when I heard that the Crown Vic Police Interceptor was going to be retired from fleet use (this was a few years ago). First is that it's iconic silhouette was easy to spot compared to the various sedans and SUVs (that are used to issue fines to the unaware for driving with the flow of traffic), but also because it was a source of inexpensive transportation for those in the know.  And the new replacement (Dodge Charger, etc) vehicles demanded a premium...but thankfully the magic depreciation fairy waved her wand and the prices of Hemi powered ex-Police Chargers are very reasonable. Original Owner V8 Swap: 1987 Dodge Charger

What Oil Crisis? 1975 Chrysler Valiant Charger

While American muscle cars might’ve been maimed by the 1973 Oil Crisis, and left to degrade into flabby coupes (the Mustang II comes to mind) Australian muscle cars had a much more natural death, slowly ceding to Japanese coupes by the early 80s. The Valiant Charger was a police favourite, often used as highway patrol cars. Although most were fitted with six cylinder hemi engines (as this example is) they were able to keep up with the heavier Ford and Holden V8s of the time. This one has a restored motor with some mild modifications, but a body that’s seen far better days. 2010 Dodge Charger

The line between concerned citizen and full on vigilante would be a tough tightrope walk driving an ex-police car. I gotta start watching what I say around here.  There was a feature from June of this year where I may have said that the Plymouth Shadow was a pitiful front wheel drive crapcan assembled by the blind and accidentally purchased by people who thought they were signing up for the Publishers Clearing House sweepstakes.  A few months later the owner of the featured car (Cold Burn) comes on and says lol that's my car...  LOL indeed, because Cold Burn's car was the Shelbyized version and it was sweet! However, things take a turn for the ugly when Shadow Queen writes: Every person that knows anything about cars at least appreciates the Shadow, even if it's not their thing. They're powerful but light, which makes them exceptionally fast. There is nothing weak about them.
