The term pilot in the manufacturing sense means a first build, an alpha or beta so to speak. The reason you build a pilot is to understand your build process, tune its finer points, but also to decide if you ever want to do it again. This next car appears to have been a pilot build of a unique color combination for the 80s Shelby Charger that never made it into subsequent full scale production. This has to be one special edition of the Dodge/Shelby Charger to be worth anything near the asking price. It doesn't get much more rare than one-of-one, and this thing allegedly includes documentation from Chrysler indicating that it was the first and only Shelby Charger built with gold accent stripe and seat embroidery.
A peek inside and you see a large part of the crazy asking price: a set of deep maroon seats with gold embroidered Carroll Shelby logos in the headrests.
This Charger uses the same basic Chrysler 2.2 liter inline-4 shared with the K-car and rated at 110 horsepower. At least it is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and suspension was setup by Shelby, so the attitude in the turns should be great.

The CS embroidered seats are pretty sweet. The car kind of fills a wierd niche. Decent condition and Shelby prototype are good. Too bad no power, wrong wheel drive and 80's chrysler build quality.
