Something must have been in the electrons at the May 2020 Barrett-Jackson online auction that closed the other day because somebody paid a scandalous $20,350.00 for an '84 Dodge Daytona Turbo. It wasn't even a Shelbyfied version and the trunk wasn't full of Breitling watches, so I don't know what to say. I thought that this coronavirus thing would have caused some of the stupidity in the used/classic car market to calm down just due to general anxiety around what the next year will look like fiscally to most people...but the guy who dropped twenty large for an 84 Daytona probably isn't living paycheck to paycheck or concerned about his job...but maybe paying too much at auction is the latest symptom of COVID19? It all seems so batty to me....but if I'm gonna drop a whole bunch of money on a used front-drive K-car variant Dodge, it's gonna be a Shelby. Find this 1987 Shelby CSX offered here on eBay for $11,900 or best-offer located in Grand Rapids, MI.

Future Classic? 1986 Shelby Dodge Charger

Time to highlight a limited production turbocharged hatchback '80s machine because they are cheap and fun! The '80s Dodge Charger was a Dodge Omni masquerading as a Charger - an emasculated version of a once brutal tire burning muscle machine...until Carroll Shelby got his 10-gallon hat involved and made a hot version. Anything with the legendary Texas chicken farmer's name on the side (and the seats, glove box door, belts..etc) is probably gonna be worth more than scrap value in the future, so get this one while it is cheap! Find this 1986 Shelby Dodge Charger offered for $1900 in Boise, ID via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.Friday, January 18, 2019
Get 'Em While They're Cheap: 1995 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra

Production of Ford's wicked SVT Cobra started in 1993 when the boxy Fox body was still the chassis of choice, but those 1993 models are bloody expensive given their relative rarity and the fanboy entourage surrounding the Fox platform. However, in 1994 Ford released the SN-95 Mustang SVT Cobra, which was faster and better in almost every category except boxyness, and those are still quite cheap these days. Find this 1995 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra here on eBay offered for $4,800 buy-it-now located in Fontucky, CA.Tuesday, August 28, 2018
#209 of 1500: 1989 Shelby Dakota

In the late 80s Carroll Shelby followed his tried and true method of hot-rodding a pedestrian car by shoehorning a V8 into a small package (and plastering his name all over it), this time the diminutive Dodge Dakota pickup!. Oversize graphics harken back to an era when graphics were a replacement for actual engine horsepower due to EPA mandated emissions requirements. Find this 1989 Shelby Dakota here on eBay bidding for $2800 in Miller Place, NY with 4 days to go.Monday, April 30, 2018
Future Classic: 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

Everything Shelby has been hot for the past few decades. Probably longer than that, but you can't touch an actual Shelby anything for less than retirement sized lumps of cash, except those Shelby Dodges, but they've got some years before they become collectible. Regardless if you want to get a Shelby Mustang that won't break the bank you'll have to find something that isn't new enough to be near MSRP, but not old enough to be "cool." Find this 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 offered for $19500 via Memphis, TN craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

1985 Dodge Shelby Charger and 1986 Shelby GLH Turbo

The Dodge Charger was a little hatchback with a grand name - but it wasn't until Carroll Shelby got his 10-gallon hat involved that things got fun. The base Shelby Charger was a hot-hatch Charger -but the real tire burner was the Shelby Charger GLH - which stands for Goes Like Hell. Today we've got an interesting his & her set of Shelby Turbos. Find this 1985 Dodge Shelby Charger and 1986 Dodge Shelby GLH Turbo offered for $6,500 near Houston, TX via craigslist. Tip from Jeff.Friday, August 25, 2017
DT Trip Report: 2017 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion

It doesn't matter what they call it...the Monterey Historics, the Rolex Motorsports Reunion, the Laguna Seca Monster Jam or the Bay Area Histrionics -- this is the ultimate car show. It starts with the dirt parking lot, that is this ridiculous collection of million dollar exotics and classics parked on mole hits, and continues to the track that is alive with the sounds of classic combustion. See the full photo album here.

Cobruar or Jagobra: 1965 AC Cobra Replica V12

I always chuckle when I think about how Carroll Shelby spent much of his time suing companies who built Shelby Cobra replica cars when it was AC Cars gorgeous Ace that is being plagiarized by every Tom, Dick, & Harry with the space to make a few welded frame chassis and fiberglass molds. The AC Ace was a British built speed machine, so it only makes sense that you'd build a replica with a properly British Jaguar V12. Find this 1965 AC Cobra Replica V12 offered for $6,000 in Camarillo, CA via craigslist. Tip from Sean S.Tuesday, February 7, 2017
Groundhog Sees A Dodge Shadow: 1989 Shelby CSX-VNT

Only a cynical person would say that Carroll Shelby cashed in on his fame when he partnered with Dodge to create the front-drive based Shelby-Dodges back in the 1980s...but let's face it, the only reason most of these things ever left the showroom was because the chicken rancher put his name on the side. Find this 1989 Shelby CSX-VNT offered for here on eBay for $9,900 in Clinton Township, MI.Tuesday, November 29, 2016

Economies of Scale: Shelby Fleet

#230 of 750: 1987 Shelby CSX Turbo

The Dodge Shadow and Plymouth Sundance were entirely underwhelming econoboxes sold to the masses from 1987 through 1994. Even the nicest all original Shadowdance isn't worth more than acheap flashlight from Harbor Freight, and most have ended up in junk yards or crushed However, a precious few were given a touch of something interesting from the legendary chicken farmer/racer Carroll Shelby-- and those ones are worth preserving. Find this 1987 Shelby CSX Turbo offered for $4,500 in Duarte, CA via craigslist.Thursday, May 26, 2016
Carroll Shelby Tribute and Car Show 2016
This past weekend of was the 4th Annual Carroll Shelby Tribute and Car Show located at the Shelby International building in Gardena, CA. If you like Shelby cars, this is a must see event featuring a cornucopia of Shelby Mustangs, Shelby Cobras, Ford GT40s, and even a few Shelby Dodges from the 80s. As always the event featured a 1PM rev for Carroll (you can hear it on our video below), but this year a Spirit of Competition panel was on stage to discuss Adam Carolla's to-be-released documentary "The 24 Hour War".

DT Radio Show: Aaron Shelby Joins Us To Talk About Racing Legends
Yesterday we had Aaron Shelby join us for another great episode of the Daily Turismo Radio Show.
Aaron is Carroll Shelby's grandson and a board member of Carroll Shelby
International, Inc -- we chatted about all things Shelby, today's excellent Carroll Shelby Tribute and Car Show and then had a mystery guest join us for some more live shenanigans on the air -- including the often maligned Ben's Spectacular Spec game. Listen below or anytime on PodBean or iTunes.

#611 of 750: 1987 Shelby CSX

This next car comes from a tip from Eric who is a friend of the seller and asks the question: Is this worthy of posting on Daily Turismo? I dunno...but I'll give it a shot and you guys can decide. It does have significant street cred among wacky car lovers, a bargain price tag, and isn't something your teenage kids will want to be dropped off at school in...so far so good. Find this 1987 Shelby CSX offered for $2,700 in Oklahoma City, OK via craigslist. Tip from Eric.Wednesday, September 16, 2015
Pilot Build: 1984 Shelby Charger

The term pilot in the manufacturing sense means a first build, an alpha or beta so to speak. The reason you build a pilot is to understand your build process, tune its finer points, but also to decide if you ever want to do it again. This next car appears to have been a pilot build of a unique color combination for the 80s Shelby Charger that never made it into subsequent full scale production. Can't Dodge The Issues: 1984 Shelby Charger
I gotta start watching what I say around here. There was a feature from June of this year where I may have said that the Plymouth Shadow was a pitiful front wheel drive crapcan assembled by the blind and
accidentally purchased by people who thought they were signing up for
the Publishers Clearing House sweepstakes. A few months later the owner of the featured car (Cold Burn) comes on and says lol that's my car... LOL indeed, because Cold Burn's car was the Shelbyized version and it was sweet! However, things take a turn for the ugly when Shadow Queen writes: Every person that knows anything about cars at least appreciates the
Shadow, even if it's not their thing. They're powerful but light, which
makes them exceptionally fast. There is nothing weak about them. Whoever
wrote this obviously is "pathetic" and has no taste. I'm not LOLing anymore. So, in an effort to make amends with the
