Mullet Dryer: 1989 Dodge Dakota Sport Convertible

Pickup trucks are the working dogs of the automotive world...and for decades they were strictly form-follows-function work machines.  But then auto designers started to get creative to sell things like pickups that were built from cars (the El Camino and Ranchero) and even performance pickups (SVT Lightning...etc)..and Dodge even went as far as to built a convertible pickup truck...so you could haul junk to the dump and have your mullet air dried at the same time. Find this 1989 Dodge Dakota Sport Convertible offered for $3500 in Norwalk, NY via craigslist. Tip from Cory.

#209 of 1500: 1989 Shelby Dakota

In the late 80s Carroll Shelby followed his tried and true method of hot-rodding a pedestrian car by shoehorning a V8 into a small package (and plastering his name all over it), this time the diminutive Dodge Dakota pickup!.  Oversize graphics harken back to an era when graphics were a replacement for actual engine horsepower due to EPA mandated emissions requirements. Find this 1989 Shelby Dakota here on eBay bidding for $2800 in Miller Place, NY with 4 days to go.

Cross Breeding: 1996 Dodge Dakota 6.0 LS Swap

With Dodge putting out Hemi V8 engines ranging from mild to wild levels of horsepower, it is somewhat odd (in a good way) to come across a Chevy LS swapped Dodge truck.  The amount of LS swapped cars and trucks advertised across the internet these days is truly staggering.  There is seemingly not a car out there that hasn't been swapped with a variant of this engine.  Find this 1996 Dodge Dakota for sale in West Bridgewater, MA for $4,000 via craigslist.

5k: Topless Longbed: 1989 Dodge Dakota Convertible Pickup

Today's second feature comes from tipper Andy L who writes:
Here is a strange 80's example that I confess I had never known about until now. It could be fun, if noisy and windy is your thing.  I am afraid that its uniqueness might be lost on the vast majority of onlookers, and most people would probably dismiss it as a salvage title hack-job.  Still, a cheap way to get into a rare one-off with relatively low miles.

5k: 1989 Dodge Shelby Dakota Pickup

Carroll Shelby was the legend in his own time and put his name on all kinds of random vehicles, but none quite so strange as the Dodge Shelby Dakota pickup.  It was the ornery Texan's first rear-wheel drive car in a number of years since he joined Chrysler and put his name on a bunch of front-wheel-drive hatchbacks.  This 1989 Dodge Shelby Dakota pickup is for sale in Avon, New York, currently bidding on ebay at $3050 reserve-not-met with 1 day to go.
