Breath of Fresh Air: 1994 Dodge Viper RT/10

This next car comes a tip from Jeff who writes: I know this is over the DT price threshold and don't expect you to post, but just thought I'd share a great example of depreciation. Sure, a V10 Viper putting out 400+ horsepower doesn't sound like much by today's standards, but just look at this thing..... an epic buy for $27k-ish.  Still looks like a 6-figure exotic simply rolling down the road.  I agree that this thing is epic for the price and it is a steal compared to all of the overpriced 993s, MkIV Supras, F355s, and E30 M3s -- THIS is the answer. And it does have stock 400 horsepower pounding to the pavement without the aid of traction control, auto-gearboxes, anti-lock brakes or airbags.  This next car is the Babe Ruth of the automotive world...its built on hot dogs and beer, not steroids and professional trainers.  Find this 1994 Dodge Viper RT/10 offered for $27,980 Niceville, FL via cargurus.

V10 SMG: 2006 BMW M5 E60

I know what you'll say. Another BMW...sheesh, you DT guys must have some kind of sponsorship from Bavaria.  Not quite (although we'd love to get some kick back from BMW if you guys are reading this...send unmarked cash in brown paper envelopes care of the crazy cat lady down the street)..but if you can find another company that sells nicely styled manual transmission equipped sports sedans and V10 powered hoonmobiles, I'll become a fan boy for that OE too.  Deal?  Anyway, BMW M division's first bruiser sedan was the 1988 BMW M5; they had previously dabbled in the M1 supercar and 4-cylinder powered E30 M3 but it was the E28 M5 that set the standard for a fast M-sedan.  Multiple generations later that formula had outgrown its inline-6 roots and by the E60 generation the M5 was powered by an F1 inspired V10 with a screaming high 8250 rpm redline.  Today these M5s are out of factory warranty and can be purchased for less than a new Honda Accord. Find this 2006 BMW M5 E60 starting bid at $1000 with estimated value $17k here on SecondDaily.com.

E60 Blues:2006 BMW M5

Someone once told me that every Porsche 928 is a $25k car, its just that the $5k examples will cost you $20k in maintenance.  That might be true for those fancy-pants cars from Stuttgart, but what about a nice Bavarian family sedan? Will this M5 be the ultimate money eating machine? Or, as tipper Jeff S puts it: Is there such a thing as a cheap M5?  If so, how many arms and legs will it eventually cost you and your family? Find this E60 2006 BMW M5 offered for $12000 in Hagerstown, MD via craigslist.

V10 LAMBORGHINI ENGINE: 2008 Audi S6

You know you want this.  Don't try and hide behind some kind of self righteous wall of excuses about the environment, your ability get to work on time, or how much you'll spend on maintenance because it really doesn't matter AND I'M NOT BUYING IT. YOU WANT A LAMBORGHINI V10 POWERED SUPER SEDAN...EVERYBODY WHO CAN FOG A MIRROR OR MASH A GAS PEDAL DOES.  Find this 2008 Audi S6 offered for $10,000 in Ridgewood, NY via craigslist.  WHY AM I SHOUTING?  Tip from FuelTruck.

Vee Ten: 2008 Audi S6

A huge engine in a medium size car is a formula that never seems to get tired.  With the advent of modern turbo set ups, the old adage of there is no replacement for displacement is being put to the real test though.  Back in the mid 2000s, Audi and BMW both deemed that a V8 engine wasn't enough cylinders for their highest performing mid side sedans.  The Audi S6 and BMW M5 changed course and went to V10 engines for this generation of cars.  The magic power of depreciation brings us a Lambo derived and glorious sounding V10 German super sedan for under 10 grand!  Find this 2008 Audi S6 for sale in Prospect, CT for $8,700 via craigslist.

El Chupacabra: 2005 Dodge Ram SRT-10

It is a miracle that the SRT-10 Ram concept ever made it past the bean counters at Chrysler's corporate HQ, and it was even a bigger surprise that 9,527 of these Mexican built monsters found buyers when new. Find this 2005 Dodge Ram SRT-10 here on eBay bidding for $16,600 reserve-not-met with a few hours to go.

Torque Wench: 2006 Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI

Long before Volkswagen was accused of cheating on emissions tests and giving the finger to the environment, they gave the finger to Sir Isaac Newton's second law of motion and entered into a project with Audi and Porsche to build an off road capable SUV that could handle like a sports car.  The result of this ambitious goal was the Volkswagen Group PL71 platform used by the Touareg, Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne -- and the apple fell sideways.  Find this 2006 Volkswagen Touareg V10 offered for $9,500 in SF Bay Area, CA via craigslist.  Tip from FuelTruck.

155 MPH Pick Me Up: 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10

Ford beat Dodge (and Chebby) to the full sized performance pickup game with the 1999 release of the F-150 Lightning (there was an earlier Lightning, but it wasn't that fast all things considered) and the nuts at Chrysler's SRT (Street & Racing Technology) division realized that they needed to compete.  So the engineers who built the original Viper and Prowler did the only logical thing and shoved a 8.3 liter Viper V10 into a full sized pickup. Find this 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 offered for $16,500 in Bloomington, IL via craigslist.  Tip from FuelTruck.

7-Speeds & 10 Cylinders: 2006 BMW M5 E60

The E60 generation M5 introduced the world to BMW's first (and only) production V10 powerplant, inspired by the V10 engine used in the BMW Sauber Formula 1 car.  The production engine shared nothing in common with the racing machine, (other than cylinder count) but that didn't stop BMW from selling it as a racing inspired beast complete with quick shifting electro-hydraulic gearbox.  Find this 2006 BMW M5 offered for $13,800 located in Hebron, OH via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

King Kong: 2006 Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI

I've been accused of being a bit of a used car jackal.  It is probably because I'm always ready to cut a deal on a neighbor's car that has been rotting in his garage, or buy a car from an elderly seller -- but who among us isn't an opportunistic omnivore?  So join me in salivating at the entrails of a freshly killed wildebeest that have fallen out of the lioness's grasp as she pulled the carcass back to her cubs -- this 2006 Volkswagen V10 Touareg TDI offered here on eBay bidding for $10,600 reserve-not-met with 3 days to go, located in Springfield, MO.

Coffee Brake: How Much Is Too Much?

Here at the Daily Turismo, we take pride in being frugal.  Why waste your money on an old Porsche when you can have just as much fun in a Renault Fuego...but sometimes a car shows up with a hefty price tag, but still tugs at one's heartstrings.  Like this 1970 Dodge Challenger with Viper V10 power found here on eBay currently bidding for $39,100 reserve-not-met with 4 days to go, located in Rio Linda, CA.

20k: 4-Ring Circus: 2007 Audi S6 Vs 2007 Audi S4

Cromniomancy is the art of divination using onions.  In practice, you inscribe two choices (perhaps for love life or career choice) on the bottom of two onions and wait for one to sprout -- the first one with a sprout lets you know which of the two choices you need to follow.  Personally, I find this sort of witchcraft disgusting, not just because of my dislike for onions (actually they do taste good when cooked, but raw onions are about as appealing to eat as a set of used spark plugs), but also because I prefer the art of Audiomancy.  This is where you buy two used Audis, inscribe your life changing choices and wait for one to have a catastrophic failure that requires a multi-week dealer visit.  Oddly enough, Audiomancy is a great way to make important financial decisions while simultaneously emptying your bank account and rendering those financial issues moot.  Plus, who has time to wait for those onions to sprout -- a used Audi is only a few good throttle pedal mashes away from some complex and financially crippling electro-hydra-mechnical failure.  Here is a set of used Audis ready for the Audiorceror; first is this 2007 Audi S6 offered for $18,900 and second is this 2007 Audi S4 offered for $18,999, both cars are located in St Louis, MO via craigslist.

100k Mile Club: 2003 AMG CL55, 2003 Audi RS6, 1997 Bentley Brooklands, 2004 VW Touareg V10 TDI

If you are ever in the community of Chantilly located in the western portion of Fairfax County, VA with a few hours to spend there is a small dealer you might want to visit.  The name Triple Z Motors does not sound impressive, but these guys have the market cornered on high powered, righteously depreciated, luxury sleds.  In their inventory they have a 2003 Mercedes-Benz AMG CL55, 2003 Audi RS6, 1997 Bentley Brooklands & 2004 Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI all between $12-$20k.  Let's take a closer look.

15k: One Tree At A Time: 2004 Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI

The Volkswagen Touareg is a big diesel powered SUV from Germany that BBC's Top Gear crew spent an entire episode mangling the pronunciation of the name but generally agreeing it is an awesome vehicle.  We did a quick youtube search for a clip of that video, but instead found a much better video by a user who calls himself BBCTopGearIndia.  Take a quick look at it here and you'll be shaking your head side-to-side in the Indian head bobble faster than you can say namaste.  Find this 2004 Volkswagen Touareg for sale in Alameda, CA for $17,900 via craigslist.  Tip from Kaibeezy.
