Breath of Fresh Air: 1994 Dodge Viper RT/10

This next car comes a tip from Jeff who writes: I know this is over the DT price threshold and don't expect you to post, but just thought I'd share a great example of depreciation. Sure, a V10 Viper putting out 400+ horsepower doesn't sound like much by today's standards, but just look at this thing..... an epic buy for $27k-ish.  Still looks like a 6-figure exotic simply rolling down the road.  I agree that this thing is epic for the price and it is a steal compared to all of the overpriced 993s, MkIV Supras, F355s, and E30 M3s -- THIS is the answer. And it does have stock 400 horsepower pounding to the pavement without the aid of traction control, auto-gearboxes, anti-lock brakes or airbags.  This next car is the Babe Ruth of the automotive world...its built on hot dogs and beer, not steroids and professional trainers.  Find this 1994 Dodge Viper RT/10 offered for $27,980 Niceville, FL via cargurus.

Viper Truck: 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10

The Dodge Ram SRT-10 isn't pretty, nor is it sporty.  It isn't really a pickup or a sports car.  It is a physics defying 3-ton hunk of metal powered by a 500 horsepower V10, with room for a few adults, a few mangy dogs, a BBQ grill, and $500 of groceries.  It is as if Dodge had turned over the Viper design authority to a collective of shoppers from Walmart and told them "design the next Viper for your cousin Bubba and his sister/wife." It is, however, breathtaking.  Find this 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 offered for $19950 near Chicago, IL via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

DT 5.0: $50k Cars For Sale

Fifty thousand greenbacks buys you a seriously mean piece of steel on wheels, but only if you avoid the garbage like Porsche 912s (seriously...why do these cost more than a similar condition Beetle?) and brand new Jeep Wranglers (newsflash...the car will be worth $5k in 10 years...sorry new Jeep buyers...I didn't make the rules, I just arbitrarily shout at people from my soapbox).  A few more comments on my $50k search -- I didn't just find $50k cars that looked nice or were new, I picked cars that got you in a group where you couldn't afford for $30k, but looked like they could be parked next to something that cost $100k.  So, awesome cars like the new Focus RS, or Civic Type R just won't make the cut -- same for a $50k restored muscle car from the late 60s...because you can get something that looks 99% the part for half the price. /end rant...on to the cars. The more I cruised through a selection of manual transmission equipped $50k cars on fleabay, the more I realized that this was indeed a difficult assignment.  But here goes...

Coffee Brake: How Much Is Too Much?

Here at the Daily Turismo, we take pride in being frugal.  Why waste your money on an old Porsche when you can have just as much fun in a Renault Fuego...but sometimes a car shows up with a hefty price tag, but still tugs at one's heartstrings.  Like this 1970 Dodge Challenger with Viper V10 power found here on eBay currently bidding for $39,100 reserve-not-met with 4 days to go, located in Rio Linda, CA.

V is for Voluptuous: 1999 Dodge Viper RT/10

V is for vicious.  V is for viagra, V10 and vindication -- it is not for Wagner, so why would you pose a ballet dancer in front of your Viper?  These two things are just about as polar opposite as you can get -- the brutish and curvaceous Viper versus the lithe and flexible dancer.  This is just another divergent chapter in the unwritten exposé -- The Girls of eBay Motors.  Find this 1999 Dodge Viper RT/10 offered for $33,999 buy-it-now on ebay.

15k: Not a T-Rex: 2011 Kandi Viper

Campagna's T-Rex is a three-wheeled plaything of the wealthy, littering the pages of DuPont Registry like cracker jack boxes after a parade. It's loaded with performance and pure exotic prestige. Now you can have some of that performance with none of that prestige for the price of a Honda Odyssey under warranty. Find this Kawasaki-powered 2011 Kandi Viper for $15,500 in Hudson Valley, NY.  Words by DT contributor slowcarSLOW-MPGlol who swears he will change his nom de plume to something more user friendly in the near future...any suggestions?
