Two Wheels Good, Three Wheels Better: 1981 Tri Magnum

It's hard to remember that there was a time before those disposable rideshare electric scooters were a plague on cities across this country.  It was a simpler time when someone had to find something else to make a total fool of himself in front of the world...and I can't imagine a better way to do it than sitting in a hammock with your knees above your head as you are slowly macerated in a sweaty fog of unburnt fuel, combustion blowby, and shame.  Yes.  It was 1981 and you are driving an enclosed trike -- a fiberglass middle finger to all those who might judge you...coffin sized and ready to be lowered into your final resting place. At least then, nobody will see you. Find this 1981 Tri Magnum offered for $5500 in Piggott, AR via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Three Wheel Mayhem: 1984 Pontiac Fiero Trike

The Pontiac Fiero is literally the Rodney Dangerfield of the car world- it get's no respect. In high school, the Fiero was voted the car most likely to be turned into something else.  DT has featured too many Fiero based replica Ferrari's or Lambo's to count, but today's feature goes into a completely different direction.  The back half of a Fiero has been mashed up with a Honda motorcycle front to create a bizarro trike that would look quite at home in Mad Max movie set.  Find this 1984 Pontiac Fiero for sale in Beloit, WI for $2,000 via Facebook Marketplace.  Tip from Eric.

Mad Mario: 1982 Fiat X1/9 Custom Trike

The Mad Max films (The Road Warrior is the best) featured an awesome vision of post apocalyptic Australia and some great car scenes, but the only gripe you might have is it didn't feature many Italian cars.  The seller of this next vehicle must have had that in consideration when he built this Fiatrike.  Find this 1982 Fiat X1/9 Custom Trike offered for $3500 near Rochester, MN via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Catch my drift: 2016 Drift King Trike

I don't know, do you blame Kenny From The Block or the Japanese who started the drift thing for this?  I get going sideways with a healthy dose of opposite lock is fun, but I'm not so sure about it when it involves a tractor seat, Harbor Freight engine and the obligatory skull.  Find this 2016 Drift King Trike for sale in Sequim, WA for $1,400 via craigslist.

Built to last: Ford Powered Rat Trike

There was a lot of talk this year about how America doesn't build anything anymore and that we've transitioned to a service economy.  All the manufacturing jobs have moved to Asia, blah, blah ,blah, we just sit at Charbucks and use the latest app on our mobile device that we are making payments on, blah, blah, blah.  Well these pundits that live in a coastal bubble apparently have never surfed the for sale by owner car and motorcycle sections of Craigslist.  Here you will find the American spirit of a guy in a shed that brought us powered flight, computers and other physical things alive and well.  Find this Ford powered rat trike for sale in Friday Harbor, WA for $6,500 via craigslist.

Spider Bites: 1970 Cadillac Trike

Spiderwebs.  Check.  Skulls.  Check.  Coffins.  Check.  Giant Spider for a passenger seat.  Check,  I kinda imagine that was the checklist that went thru the builders head when they came up with the idea for this build.  Find this 1970 Cadillac powered trike for sale someplace in Washington for $15,000 via craigslist.

C-Note: 1975 Custom C Cab Three Wheeler

Back before the rise of video games, young male gearheads spent many hours building plastic models of cars.  Monogram had a popular series of hot rod customs by famed designer Tom Daniel. I spent many hours myself building his creations like The Red Baron, Paddy Wagon and Bad Medicine.  In a fit of nostalgia a while back, I bought a copy of Bad Medicine off eBay and built it.  For this guy a 1/24 scale custom based on a C Cab wasn't enough.  Find this 1975 Custom C Cab Three Wheeler for sale in Buckley, WA for $9,500 via craigslist.

Presidents' Day: 1995 Renegade Custom Trike

If history has taught us anything, it's that military generals don't make very good presidents.  A general is accustomed to obtaining objectives through the use of superior firepower -- and that doesn't always translate well to the nuanced political landscape, but several generals did end up in the White House, including Dwight D. Eisenhower.  However, the meat that makes up a politician and military man are very different, sort of like the difference between a V8 muscle car and a motorcycle, but put them together and you get this 1995 Renegade Custom Trike here on eBay bidding for $4,100 reserve-not-met located in St George, UT.

The Future Is Low: 2015 "Honda" Custom Reverse Trike

The threat of the mass market 3-wheeled car has been floating around the automotive industry since the beginning of the automobile era.  It doesn't matter that removing one wheel doesn't really save you much money, or that they topple over like roller skating college kids on spring break -- because some lunatic entrepreneur will try and build/sell a million of them.  It also doesn't matter that successful auto start-ups have done well by starting at the top of the market where consumers are more willing to be tolerant of dealer visits, like Tesla or the newcomer Faraday Future -- because someday...we will all drive trikes.  Like this 2015 "Honda" Custom Reverse Trike found here on eBay bidding for $15,099 with 3 days to go, located in Greensboro, NC.

This next tip comes from Slowboy who calls it a Weird friggin trike thing and writes; Doesn't look complete, but uh... I dunno. The ad doesn't have a lot of info, and the pictures suck. Have a link.  Don't mind if I do.  Find this 1995 Yamaha Trike offered for $5,000 in Dayton, OH via craigslist.

10k: Raw Class: Morgan 3-Wheeler replica

For awhile, it seemed that Morgan's position on the modernity spectrum could only go one way: the wrong way. Then they unveiled the brazenly steampunk 3-Wheeler. Lauded for its stalwart mechanical charm, it unfortunately cost about as much as a Caterham with options. But at 1/4 of the price, this well-built replica is ready for a new dapper gent stuck on a forgotten vehicular formula. And it's here to replace your penny-farthing for your weekly haberdashery visit. Find this Morgan 3-Wheeler replica for sale in Newbury Park, CA for $10,000 via craigslist. Tip from Sean S.

1k: Riot Act: 1985ish Pontiac Fiero Trike

The Pontiac Fiero is a punching bag in the automotive community.  It gets hammer with mullet jokes and constantly second guessed with what it could have been comments by armchair engineers.   In truth it really deserves some of that abuse...but this?  It doesn't really deserve to be turned into this homemade trike on a Pontiac Fiero chassis offered for $2,000 located near Lincoln, NE via craigslist.  Tip from Andy L.

20k: Seller Submission: 2013 Scorpion P6

Time to harness your inner Ricky Bobby (I wanna go fast!) with this street legal version of a trike, because not much short of a $100k sports car is going to keep up with this thing anywhere.  The Scorpion P6 looks like a Frankenstein experiment involving an FSAE car and a sport bike built on the wheelbase of a mobility scooter. It will probably do the most fantastic donuts and result in instant death to anyone without F1 level reflexes.  Looks like a winner.  Find this 2013 Scorpion P6 offered for $26,000 or best offer on ebay with 2 days to go, located in Miami, FL.  Seller submission from Osvaldo.
