Choco-Calzone: 1978 Alfa Romeo Spider

Last year, Porsche celebrated the 55th anniversary of the 911.  The 911 of 1963 doesn't share much in common with the 2018 911 other than maybe possessing four wheels and being rear-engined.  You definitely coudn't use parts from a 1963 911 on a 2018. In 1966 Alfa Romeo debuted their two seat Spider and changed very little over its 28 year production run. Meaning that you won't have too much trouble with parts for whatever year Spider strikes your fancy.  Find this 1978 Alfa Romeo Spider for sale in Astoria, OR for $6,300 via craigslist.

Kitted out Combi: 1970 Ford E200 Supervan

The Boomers and Hipsters in their quest to project certain images, have pushed the values of Westfalias and other VW Van camper conversions to the point of ridiculousness.  Never mind that they really are barely adequate to drive ad the posted speed limit on the way to your mountain campground, the image of you and your facial hair and wool shirt chopping wood at the campsite is worth overpaying for.  If you are really serious about van camping though, you'd get one of these for a reasonable price.   Find this 1970 Ford E200 Supervan for sale in Bellingham, WA for $7,500 via craigslist.

Art Bike: 1981 Puch Magnum LTD Mk2

If you watch any of those home flipper shows on HGTV, when the work of flip is done, the last major element is the staging for the sale.  In looking at that other car site that has become nothing but auctions, the better the staging as far as the photograph locations, the better the price.  Avoiding locations where the object for sale is lost in the picture is rule #1.    See if you can find this 1981 Puch Magnum LTD Mk2 for sale in Foothill Ranch, CA for $2,200 via craigslist.

Taco Tuesday: 1966 Bultaco Matador Mk2

One of the consequences of vehicles becoming so valuable that they become art is that if you used them for their primary purpose, you'd diminish their value.  This bike is beautifully turned out and is probably better than it was when it left Spain over 50 years ago.  However if you were to get it to run and rode it down some single track, you'd probably be out half of the asking price.  Sad, really.   Find this 1966 Bultaco Matador Mk2 Model 16 for sale in Olympia, WA for $7,950 via craigslist.

Big Wheels Keep On Turnin': 1987 Yamaha BW350

There are a lot of interesting ideas that manufacturers have come up with that didn't pan out littering Craigslist.  Back in the 80's, a few manufacturers thought that if big wheels worked on ATV's and Quad's, why not on two wheelers.  The results didn't exactly define a new category of motorbike.  Find this 1987 Yamaha BW350 for sale in Kirkland, WA for $3,600 via craigslist.

Buttered Pasta: 1976 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT

A rising tide lifts all boats.  I guess that even applies to the previously cheap 116 series Alfa Romeos.  It used to be that around 6K would buy you a nice, driver quality Bertone GTV like the one featured last week, and a grand or two would buy you an Alfetta.  Now you can barely find a GTV to feature on DT that fits under the price cap, and the days of dirt cheap Alfettas seem to be over.  Find this 1976 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT for sale on Vashon Island, WA for $4,900 via craigslist.

Little smoker: 1982 Honda MB5

In most states in the Union, any two wheeler with 50cc's or smaller can be ridden on the street without special endorsement. (although you might need special bravery pills).  Most things under that 50cc limit are either small scooters or things with a set of pedals in addition to an ICE.  However for one year in 1982 you could have walked into your friendly Honda dealer and bought something that you wouldn't be embarrassed to ride with a full face helmet.  Find this 1982 Honda MB5 for sale in Graham, WA for $2,300 via craigslist.

Rebel Without a Clue: 1954 AJS Model 20

If you own a rare classic for a number of years, you probably know a lot of details about it.  You have probably read the history books and period magazine articles about your bike.  From that you probably even know details about your bike in contemporary popular culture.  Like if a famous actor rode it in an iconic film (or not).  Find this 1954 AJS Model 20 for sale in Knik, AK for $7,910 via craigslist.

DT 5.0 Best 500cc Bike: 1971 Kawasaki H1 500

For the best 500cc bike I suppose I could have searched for some sort of race bike that had won numerous championships or something from the land of excitable people that gesture a lot with their hands, but I decided to go with "the triple with the ripple" from the two stoke nuts at Kawasaki.  Find this 1971 Kawasaki H1 500 for sale in Oceanside, CA currently bid to $5,100 on eBay with 3 days to go.  This post is part of DT's 5th Birthday Celebration.

No Caboodle: Superformance 1967 Cobra Kit

Why pay retail?  Cut out the middleman and pay pennies on the dollar! Seems like everyone is on the lookout for a deal in this new normal of 2% growth.  So, why would you pay millions for a Cobra when you can build one yourself for peanuts? Of course, some adult assembly is required, but what could possibly go wrong?  Find this Superformance 1967 Cobra Kit for sale somewhere in Oregon for $5,000 via craigslist.

Buzzy Bee: 1972 Yamaha DS7

It's always nice when you find something old that has escaped the clutches of the modifiers and "ride it hard and put it away wet" types of owners.  That is especially cool when it is a one year only model of limited production.  Here's one that is celebrating it's 45th birthday this year.  Find this 1972 Yamaha DS7 for sale in Lake Stevens, WA for $2,200 via craigslist.

Foxy Roadkill: 1992 Ford Mustang LX

Welcome to Roadkill, a long lost DT feature where we post cars for sale seen on the side of the road by readers and staff.  I'm not sure why you would go Old Skool when you are selling a car, maybe you are tired of the infamous Craigslist Flake.  Anyway, here's some fresh Roadkill I saw on the way into work this morning. Find this 1992 Ford Mustang LX for sale on NE 190th Street and 103rd Ave. NE in Bothell, WA for $2,100 via For Sale sign in window.

Not Easy Being Green: 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88

Back when I was a kid in the early 70's, we thought American sedans were land barges, and one would never ever want to own one.  With curb weights of around 4,000lbs and lengths of 19ft, they are almost petite compared to the Bro Trucks and Mommy 'Burbans that clog the roads of today, and I find them strangely attractive.  Find this 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 for sale in Kirkland, WA for $5,500 via craigslist.

Ten-Hut!: 1941 Indian 741-b

World War 2 was an existential threat and as such, American industry went from making consumer goods to becoming the Arsenal of Democracy.  Factories were converted from civilian to military production and civilian products that had military use were re-designated.  Such as the Indian Scout which was re-designated as the model 741.  Find this 1941 Indian 741-b for sale in Iowa City, IA for $18,000 via craigslist.

Baby Arms: 1966 BSA Victor

When I say BSA you think of the quintessential post-war British motorcycle, the air-cooled vertical twin.  But, BSA also produced triples and singles as well as the little known 10 cylinder bike.  Find this 1966 BSA Victor for sale in Novato, CA for $5,000 via craigslist.

Orange Crush: 1974 Laverda 750SF

The subject of this Taco Tuesday post is giving me a bad case of writers cramp.  I just want to sit in front of the monitor and drool over a classic piece of Italian two wheel design.  They sure got things right during the late 60's and early 70's.  Find this 1974 Laverda 750SF for sale in Vallejo, CA for $17,800 via craigslist.

Middling: 1987 Mazda RX-7

The middle child syndrome is a pop psychology construct where the middle child of a family of three siblings feels excluded by virtue of their birth order.  The older sibling gets all the responsibility and the younger sibling is treated as the baby.  Thus it is the same for cars, where the first and third generation RX-7 is lauded and the middle RX-7 is forgotten.  Find this 1987 Mazda RX-7 for sale in Albany, OR for $4,895 via craigslist.
