Stick Shift and 6 Cylinders: 1987 Ford Econoline Van

Tipper Eric sent this car in with the following words: Who orders an Econoline with a stick and a 6?  I have to meet this person!  Yup, this is a strange vehicle..and one that I am familiar with..I learned to drive on similar manual transmission equipped van...but if I recall correctly my old man didn't buy this from the factory as much as win it in some strange business deal like Han Solo winning the Millennium Falcon, but in the end a young (probably 12 year old) me learned to drive a stick shift van with velour seats and Yoda's cane as a gear shifter. It was a long time ago. Find this 1987 Ford Econoline Van offered for $1500 in Bakersfield, NC via craigslist.

Non Aero Van: 1971 Ford Econoline E250 Food Truck

It isn't uncommon for a reader to see something on DailyTurismo and say "what am I looking at?" because that's the way we like it around these parts.  But today, I'm asking that question because I can't tell if this next thing is a functioning auto or a trailer or a home...or...? Whatever it is, I'm getting hungry.  Find this 1971 Ford Econoline Food Truck offered for $18500 in Columbus, NE via craigslist. Tip from Taylor.

Kitted out Combi: 1970 Ford E200 Supervan

The Boomers and Hipsters in their quest to project certain images, have pushed the values of Westfalias and other VW Van camper conversions to the point of ridiculousness.  Never mind that they really are barely adequate to drive ad the posted speed limit on the way to your mountain campground, the image of you and your facial hair and wool shirt chopping wood at the campsite is worth overpaying for.  If you are really serious about van camping though, you'd get one of these for a reasonable price.   Find this 1970 Ford E200 Supervan for sale in Bellingham, WA for $7,500 via craigslist.

I Love Craigslist: 1969 OLD SCHOOL BAD ASS VAN

People complain that there is too much negativity in the world...which seems oddly self-fulfilling, but if you ever find the world getting you down, just head to your local craigslist, because the optimism overflows the cracked-in-half-cup like a California estuary.  Seriously, where else will you find people asking 5 to 10 times what they will ever get in value for something and being completely unaware of reality.  Find this 1969 OLD SCHOOL BAD ASS VAN offered for $3,500 in Santa Fe, NM via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

A Man, A Van, A Plan: Collection of Vans From FuelTruck

Tipper FuelTruck hit our inbox with a collection of custom vans that was so totally outrageous that I just had to publish the entire batch for your enjoyment. It includes something that was a giveaway called Tilly's neff Van, a 70s Dodge van with carpet padding themed interior, some sweet airbrushed graphics on a 71 Dodge B200 with Cali black plates,  a 70 Econoline with Cragar mags and white letter BF Goodrich TAs, but my favorite is the 77 Dodge B200 with a wolf howling at the moon/unicorn/wizard on one side, but a saber tooth tiger mauling a viking in outer space on the flip side...amazing stuff.  Big thanks to FuelTruck for all the vantastic links.

ECNALUBMA: 1974 Ford Pathfinder Quadravan E-300 4x4 Econoline Ambulance

When I see a vintage van gussied up as an ambulance, all I can picture is Jack Elam wearing a white lab coat and waving around a giant hypodermic needle as he introduces himself: "I'm Nikolas Van Helsing, professor of proctology and other related tendencies. A graduate of the University of Rangoon and assorted night classes at the Knoxville Tennessee school of faith healing."  Find this 1974 Ford Pathfinder Quadravan E-300 4x4 Econoline Ambulance conversion Van here on eBay bidding for $5,100 reserve-not-met with 2 days to go in Spearfish, South Dakota.

10k: Heavy Fuel: 1962 Ford Econoline Pickup, OM617 Diesel Swap

The formula for restoring or modifying an old American work truck from the 1960s  goes something like this: Step 1 Find Chevy 350 V8, Step 2 Install Chevy 350 V8, Step 4 Profit.   Sometimes you might consider using a large V8 from the original manufacturer of the vehicle, but under no circumstances should your pick a donor engine from the worlds slowest luxury sedan from the 1980s.  Unless you are insane.  Find this  1962 Ford Econoline Pickup with OM617 diesel power here on eBay currently bidding for $5,200 reserve-not-met with 4 days to go, located in Lakeland, FL.

5k: Overbite: 1967 E-Series, 460 swap project

Counteracting every engine-less roller project littering craigslist and eBay is this refrigerator on wheels, packing a big block V8 and almost nothing else. A roller just needs an drivetrain. This E-series just needs everything else. Like a seat, for starters. Everything you need (including a Kirkey aluminum seat) is included in the sale of this project, and you've got plenty of room in the engine bay to put it all together. Find this 1967 Ford E-Series with a 460 cubic-inch V8 here on eBay for sale in Downey, CA for $5,000 buy-it-now with one day to go.

Mid Week Match-Up: Best Sub $10k Classic

It's Wednesday, so that means it's time for another edition of Daily Turismo's better than bocci with Burt Bacharach game also known as Mid Week Match-Up!  Today's subject comes from DT regular Gianni who writes:  I was watching the latest video on Petrolicious about the 5-series family.  I like the guy’s philosophy:  “Buy no car for more than $10K”.  Might be an interesting challenge to see what the D-Tisti come up with.

5k: Travco Conversion: 1963 Ford Econoline Camper

In 1961 Ford introduced the Econoline van as a competitor to Chevy's Corvair Greenbrier and Volkswagen's Type 2 (Bus).  Ford's Econoline was based on the Falcon chassis and wasn't some wacky aircooled rear engined setup.  It was instead configured like a miniature cab-over truck with the engine up front to warm the driver's bottom.  The Falcon chassis used inline-6 and V8 engines, so this means that the Falcon center of gravity is slightly higher compared to the flat engine equipped competition from GM/VW and an engine hump protrudes a bit into the passenger space.  Find this 1963 Ford Econoline Camper currently bidding for $4,619 reserve-not-met on ebay with one day to go, located in Fairport, NY.

5k: Camper Bonanza: 1969 Ford E-Series Van Econoline

It's summer time and it looks like camping fever has taken over the "offices" of the Daily Turismo, we first featured a Dodge Tradesman and then a nice copy of the popular Volkswagen Westfalia Vanagon.  The next logical step is to feature something from another OEM, and as luck would have it, a Ford camper popped up...literally.  Find this 1969 Ford E-Series Van Econoline currently bidding for $2,025 on ebay, located in Fletcher, NC with a few hours to go.
