Yamahahahaha: 1958 Berkeley SE492

Berkeley Cars Ltd out of Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, England had a short run of low-priced sporty microcars starting back in 1956 and ultimately ending in bankruptcy in 1960.  Unfortunately, the company was just starting to get their formula of front-wheel-drive motorcycle powered fiberglass things with cars like the Sports SE492 when their main business (building Glass-reinforced plastic "caravans") when belly up.  Luckily, you can get a basket case Berkeley for cheap and you can even find examples that have reliable engine swap from a Japanese sport bike. Find this 1958 Berkeley SE492 offered for $6900 in Morgan Hill, CA via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Yamaha V-Twin Powered: 1923 Ford T Bucket Replica

The typical vintage T-Bucket replica goes like this; off-the-shelf tube axle front end kit, bucket of fiberglass, Ford 9-inch rear end, TH350 slushbox, Chevy 350 small bloc---whoa...who put that Chebby part in my Ford?  Thems' fightin' words. The only non Ford power I'll put in a T-Bucket is something from a long-time Ford partner...like Lincoln, Jaguar, or Yamaha.  Yeah.  A V-Twin from a chopper will do nicely. Find this 1923 Ford T Bucket Replica offered for $2250 in Oxnard, CA via craigslist. Tip from Sean S.

Yamahahahaha! 1989 Ford Taurus SHO

The Taurus SHO (Super High Output) was a limited edition sports sedan built by Ford's Special Vehicle Team, yup the same guys who developed the SVO Mustang, Mustang Cobra, etc.  A first generation SHO may feel slow in comparison to today's big DOHC V6s mounted in every economy sedan (or the twin turbo 3.5 V6 SHO), but back in 1989 when it was new, there weren't many 4-door cars capable of 6.6 second to 60mph and a 143 mph top speed. Find this 1989 Ford Taurus SHO offered for $2,500 in Colorado Springs, CO via craigslist.  Tip from Rock On!

Big Wheels Keep On Turnin': 1987 Yamaha BW350

There are a lot of interesting ideas that manufacturers have come up with that didn't pan out littering Craigslist.  Back in the 80's, a few manufacturers thought that if big wheels worked on ATV's and Quad's, why not on two wheelers.  The results didn't exactly define a new category of motorbike.  Find this 1987 Yamaha BW350 for sale in Kirkland, WA for $3,600 via craigslist.

Buzzy Bee: 1972 Yamaha DS7

It's always nice when you find something old that has escaped the clutches of the modifiers and "ride it hard and put it away wet" types of owners.  That is especially cool when it is a one year only model of limited production.  Here's one that is celebrating it's 45th birthday this year.  Find this 1972 Yamaha DS7 for sale in Lake Stevens, WA for $2,200 via craigslist.

Calling Collect: Vintage Motorcycle Collection

A lot of cool old stuff that was just an affordable old car a few years ago has turned into a collectible automobile with prices to match.  Blame Barrett-Jackson, the Fed, Brexit, QE and QE2, or whatever, but amassing a collection is going to take you a few bucks as well as space.  Motorcycles haven't - for the most part followed cars - yet - and storing 16 bikes is a hell of a lot easier than 16 broken down old cars.  Find this Vintage Motorcycle Collection of 16 bikes including this 1973 Bultaco Alpina for sale in San Rafael, CA for $21,500 via craigslist.

Kenny was a race bike rider: 1985 Yamaha RZ350 Kenny Roberts Edition

One would think that if you were the first American to win the GP motorcycle World Championship and then you went on to win it two more times, you'd be a household name.  Add to that if you won the AMA Grand National twice and are one of only four riders to win the AMA Grand Slam, you'd still be talked about today.  Kenny Roberts did in the 1970's, but you've probably never heard of him or his signature bike.  Find this 1985 Yamaha RZ350 Kenny Roberts Edition for sale in Anchorage, AK for $7,499 via craigslist.  Tip from Zach Z.

On the level: 1974 Yamaha RD60A

How much horsepower does a two wheeler really need?  If you live somewhere that's flat and urban do you really need more than 4 hp?  Who needs to go faster than 50 mph anyway?  In the age before high fructose corn syrup and cool ranch Doritos, Yamaha attempted to find the answers to these burning questions with the RD60.  Find this 1974 Yamaha RD60A for sale in Spokane, WA for $1,800 via craigslist.  Aw, it's sooo cute!

Like new: 1975 Yamaha DT125B

Say you find a 40 year old motorcycle in Idaho with 200 miles on it.  What do you do with it?  Ride it like Yamaha intended and enjoy a new 40 year old enduro?  Put it back in the barn for another 30 years?  Park it in your living room and admire it?  Flip it to the next person on Craigslist with visions of investment returns dancing in their head? Find this 1975 Yamaha DT125B with 500 miles on the clock for sale in Woodinville, WA for $2,600 via craigslist.

Tiddler Winks: 1975 Yamaha RD125

Like cars, motorcycles have gotten bigger, heavier and more powerful since the malaise era.  Nowadays most street motorcycles feature displacements over 1 liter and beginner bikes are considered to be 500cc's.  However, back in the bell-bottom era you could buy a 125cc two stroke street bike featuring 16 angry hp from Yamaha that you could ride on your commute and not be considered a nervous novice. Find this 1975 Yamaha RD125 for sale in Bothell, WA for $1,900 via craigslist.
