Choco-Calzone: 1978 Alfa Romeo Spider

Last year, Porsche celebrated the 55th anniversary of the 911.  The 911 of 1963 doesn't share much in common with the 2018 911 other than maybe possessing four wheels and being rear-engined.  You definitely coudn't use parts from a 1963 911 on a 2018. In 1966 Alfa Romeo debuted their two seat Spider and changed very little over its 28 year production run. Meaning that you won't have too much trouble with parts for whatever year Spider strikes your fancy.  Find this 1978 Alfa Romeo Spider for sale in Astoria, OR for $6,300 via craigslist.

Turbo Manual Brown Wagon: 1982 Volvo 245GLT

When somebody submits a link for a car and claims it checks all the boxes, I'm always skeptical...a glass is half full of gin kinda guy. And my boxes are kinda strange and kinda hard to check.  So let's see...manual gearbox, check; brown/gold exterior color, check; turbo power, check; wagon, check; decent price, check.  Okay...yup...checks all the boxes. Find this 1982 Volvo 245GLT offered for $4,000 in Ballard, WA via craigslist. Tip from Art C.

Brown Wears The Crown: 1981 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

There is no better time to buy up a clean General Motor G-body car than right now.  Variants included the Chevy Monte Carlo, Oldsmobile Cutlass, Pontiac Grand Prix, and Buick Regal.  These were the last cars to follow the classic V8 rwd muscle car formula.  The Grand National was a collector car when new, but in 2018 it is easier than ever to create a restomod version any of these cars.  When they were new, G body V8 engines produced a paltry amount of power even in higher output Hurst or SS trims.  With the info all over the internet, it is easier than ever to create a 400+ hp V8 be it some LS version, big block, or turbo anything.  Today's Monte has a older school 355 set up that might not be a LS, but still delivers the goods.  Find this 1981 Chevy Monte Carlo for sale in Pittsburgh, PA for $9,500 via craigslist.

B is for Brown: 1977 Datsun B210

The story seen quite often here on DT is one where a malaise era econo-box that has managed to escape the depreciation curve generates a big interest from the readership, until we scroll down to the interior pictures and find a slushbox.  Then the inevitable comment about the auto killing interest.  Our next example survivor is a fine brown example with a shift-it-yourself transmission.  Are you ready to put your money where your keyboard is?  Find this 1977 Datsun B210 for sale in Olympia, WA for $4,000 via craigslist.

Brown Bomber: 1951 DeSoto Custom Sportsman

As a Gen-Xer, I really don't dig the American car of the 1950's. They don't really do much for me.  But, I think this next one would be really cool as a Rockabilly wreck in primer black with a little bit of red pin striping, white walls and some fuzzy dice.  Sacrilege?   Find this 1951 DeSoto Custom Sportsman for sale on Anderson Island, WA for $10,000 via craigslist.
