Like A Heavyweight M100 Elan: 1987 Cadillac Allanté

The Cadillac Allante (Allanté) was another attempt by one of the big three cash in on the allure of the European import; think Chrysler TC by Maserati or AMC Eagle Premier -- but with an accent in the name causing grief for search features and web indexing in the future.  I also can't help but draw comparisons to the '90s Lotus Elan -- also a two-seat front-drive convertible with an engine built in a different continent from the body, but the Allante packed an extra 1600 lbs (approx the mass of a full Regardless, this next version is offered for some spare change...but would it be worth it? Rarely Seen: 2010 Cadillac CTS Wagon

With the launch of the second generation CTS sedan in 2008, Cadillac finally gave the hungry masses what they demanded...a wagon version of the BMW 3-series & Mercedes C-Class competitor.  It wasn't a bad looking wagon (and much better looking than the slab sided CTS Coupe thing) and the American buying public did exactly what they always do...which is to not buy the wagon and instead buy some crappy small SUV.  A few years later Cadillac discontinued the wagon (when they launched the 3rd gen CTS in 2014) and now the only way to get one is on the used market...which is okay because they are cheap. 6-Speed V8: 2005 Cadillac CTS-V

Cadillac launched their CTS-V sport sedan in 2004 with a manual gearbox and firebreathing V8 that was nothing short of awesome.  The standard CTS sedan was focused on stealing sales from cars like the Mercedes-Benz C-Class or BMW 3/5 series..but the V-version was aimed at stealing sales from BWM's M division and Mercedes-Benz AMG division...and those German sedans are wicked and fast...but seriously complicated and used engines built like time bombs...but the Cadillac used a pushrod V8 from the Corvette that was simple to fix...and I think the CTS-V is the choice for the cheap driver. Mobster Approved: 1972 Cadillac Coupe DeVille

This next car isn't the car that Robert De Niro's character (Ace Rothstein) drove in Casino, because that was an El Dorado...but it probably has similar bomb absorbing underbody panels and is so seriously gangster that I can't help but smile.  This is the kind of car that a gangster like Vito Genovese or Crazy Joe Gallo would drive. 4 Door Vette: 2004 Cadillac CTS-V

Here is a riddle for you: What is black on the outside, a family car on the inside and a Corvette on the underside?  If you said a frog, you are wrong...it is this next car..the legendary first generation CTS-V, which combined Corvette LS6 power and T56 manual transmission in a family friendly package. Luxury Limo: 1986 Cadillac Fleetwood 75

This next car comes right behind another big long wheelbase oddball with an extra set of jump seats, but it isn't an ancient lumbering Volvo. It is a big V8 powered American luxury boat that seats 8 people and has enough velour to make any 80s fan happy. Brougham Wagon: 1976 Cadillac Fleetwood Castillian Estate

To say that this next car will need some restoration is a bit of an understatement.  The interior will need to be nuked from orbit (it's the only way to be sure) and there is enough rust to earn a spot on the endangered species list...but...BUT...this thing is wicked sweet.  It started life from the Cadillac factory as a 4-door sedan, but the guys at  Traditional Coach Works in Chatsworth, CA transformed it into a wagon with a large rear hatch and a custom roof. Standard Transmission of the World: 2006 Cadillac CTS

I remember quite vividly the first time I drove a Cadillac CTS sedan in anger.  It was at one of those GM ride & drive events that were all the rage before the 2008 carpocalypse killed many a marketing boondogle budget item -- but GM put us in the seats of a CTS, BMW 3-series, and some kinda Volvo (forget which one...it was that good) and told us to tear up an autocross style parking lot cone track.  The BMW handled the best out of all of the cars, but the CTS was shockingly well composed compared to the previous "grandpadillacs" that we were used to seeing from the brand that claims to be "the Standard of the World".  The CTS in 2.8 or 3.6 liter trim wasn't as fast as the CTS-V version, but the V6 was peppy and the car was happy to NOT attract the attention of the 5-0 or leave pieces of carbon fiber and plastic on every speed bump in town. Prices when new were approaching an Audi/BMW/Merc, but now they are used and cheap cheap cheap..which is exactly how I like my manual gearbox equipped late model luxury sedans.  Find this 2006 Cadillac CTS offered for $4,500 in Cohocton, NY via craigslist. Another Batmobile: 1967 Cadillac Eldorado

The Cadillac Eldorado was a gigantic front wheel drive personal luxury coupe that started life in 1967, although the name Eldorado was used on a convertible halo car as part of the series 62 platform starting way back in 1953.  The big front drive under-steering boat won't impress anyone with its RV handling characteristics, but trying to nail apexes with any full sized 'Merican car from the late 60s is like trying to rope and hog-tie a woolly mammoth while riding naked on a giraffe.  It sounds like a great idea on paper, but once you get all slathered up in like a petroleum slip-n-slide, you realize it was a horrible mistake.  The same goes for building a custom bizarro car -- once you've created a custom Batmobile, you'll regret it after you sober up. Poor Little Fool: 1981 Cadillac Eldorado

Sometimes you see a custom car and think "I'm not sure what I'm supposed to make of this..." and other times you think "I'm not even sure what this was made from...".  This next car fits slightly into the latter category with a small dose of the former, because the seller lists it as a Cadillac Deville, but it looks like an Eldorado to me or maybe an Oldsmobile Toronado.  Whatever the original source, this thing does appear well loved, very customized, but oddly named.  Find this 1981 Cadillac DeVille offered for $12,000 in Marion, IN via craigslist. Large And In Charge: 1967 Cadillac Eldorado

Tipper Jon seems to have a bad case of Cadillac fever.  In between internet searches he writes us: imagine the security of floating down the highway at triple digit speeds, secure in the knowledge that very few other vehicles could present a threat to your safety, ensconced as you are in a 1967 Eldorado, seated behind yards of Detroit steel.  In fact, it is arguable that you might not notice a collision with anything smaller than a Taurus.  If this is your idea of motoring (and you have family in the gasoline & oil business), check out this handsomely preserved example of the some of 1967's finest American iron.  But I strongly suggest you measure your garage before you buy.  Find this 1967 Cadillac Eldorado for sale in Harlingen, TX for $10,000 via craigslist.

Back in 1984, Cadillac was not trying to ape German car makers to make the fastest sedan to run the Nurburgring.  They primarily focused on making large cars that got middling better gas mileage than the parade floats of the 1970's.  No one would mistake a Coupe DeVille for an Audi or BMW back in these days.  Today's feature has a late model LT1 engine swap though the seller here is optimistically thinking this 5.7 came from a Vette as the engine cover looks like it was from a late model Fleetwood/Roadmonster/Caprice.  Either way, the current engine provides significantly more motivation than the stock unit.  Find this 1984 Cadillac Coupe DeVille for sale in Columbus, OH for $5,500 via craigslist.

Floating Castle: 1995 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham

This next car comes from Tanj! who writes: Not mine.  Saw this as part of my morning searches.  Low mile 1995 Fleetwood Brougham for sale in Austin for $4.3k.  Leather seats look presentable.  All chrome bits are intact and look undamaged.  Even better all the plastic trim bits on the chrome and bumpers appear undamaged.  Same for the reverse lights (between the bumper and rear sail panel).  95 starts the beginning of the larger side mirrors moved up from the doors and is the last year of OBD-I and first year of the PWM improvements made to the transmission for better shifting feel.  And it looks like the seller might be an enthusiast for the brand or model as their is another D-Body in the background of one of the photos.
