The Cadillac Eldorado was a gigantic front wheel drive personal luxury coupe that started life in 1967, although the name Eldorado was used on a convertible halo car as part of the series 62 platform starting way back in 1953.  The big front drive under-steering boat won't impress anyone with its RV handling characteristics, but trying to nail apexes with any full sized 'Merican car from the late 60s is like trying to rope and hog-tie a woolly mammoth while riding naked on a giraffe.  It sounds like a great idea on paper, but once you get all slathered up in like a petroleum slip-n-slide, you realize it was a horrible mistake.  The same goes for building a custom bizarro car -- once you've created a custom Batmobile, you'll regret it after you sober up. Poor Little Fool: 1981 Cadillac Eldorado

Sometimes you see a custom car and think "I'm not sure what I'm supposed to make of this..." and other times you think "I'm not even sure what this was made from...".  This next car fits slightly into the latter category with a small dose of the former, because the seller lists it as a Cadillac Deville, but it looks like an Eldorado to me or maybe an Oldsmobile Toronado.  Whatever the original source, this thing does appear well loved, very customized, but oddly named.  Find this 1981 Cadillac DeVille offered for $12,000 in Marion, IN via craigslist. Large And In Charge: 1967 Cadillac Eldorado

Masterpiece? 1981 Cadillac Eldorado Pierre Cardin Edition

The Cadillac Eldorado was a gigantic front-drive personal luxury coupe that was sold to gangsters and rich housewives (or mistresses) but today's version is something special.  It was Pierre Cardin's second attempt at automotive customization (after the AMC Javelin customs of the 70s) and started with an Eldorado but added Olds Toronado front fenders and a wild proboscis and all sorts of fancy accoutrements.  Find this 1981 Cadillac Eldorado Pierre Cardin Edition offered for $25,000 near Philadelphia, PA via craigslist. Pimp Hand Strong: 1970 Cadillac Eldorado Del Caballero

If a 1970 Caddy Eldorado is not quite pimp enough for you, what was a man to do?  Back in the day, legendary car customizer George Barris created the Del Caballero package that was available at select dealerships. The end result was a car fit for none other than Huggy Bear Brown himself.  The package included: a landau half-top and irons, kustom grille, sunroof, aircraft interior lamps, a Derham-limousine type window in back, chrome moldings, kustom paint and deluxe wheel covers.  Find this 1970 Cadillac Eldorado for sale in Louisville, KY for $8,000 via craigslist.

Bait-n-Switch: 1967 Cadillac Eldorado Carbeque Project

5k: Ragtop Blues: 1987 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible

The ninth generation of Cadillac's Eldorado (1986-1991) was a downsized E-Body luxury cruiser that shared its front drive chassis with the Buick Riviera and Oldsmobile Toronado.  The product planners at Cadillac decided that building a convertible version wasn't worth the tooling costs, ironic considering that the Eldorado name was first applied to convertible version of the Series-62 sedan.  This didn't stop a few wealthy buyers from forking over some cash to Richard Straman Coachworks to create the ragtop Eldorado we all deserve.  Find this 1987 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible here on eBay currently bidding for $5,211 reserve-not-met with 3 days to go, located in Hudson, FL.

Update 24-Apr-2015: You've seen it here first folks.  Black Love is back.  The El Camino'd Eldorado complete with inexplicably included creepy Sean Connery mannequin seated in the driver's seat is still for sale.  If you read the Q&A section it appears there was flaky bidding and some tomfoolery in the previous auction (that ended at $20k) but I don't care, because I just can't get me enough of this beautiful El Caminorado even if I have to ride shotgun with an eerie dummy behind the wheel.  Find this 1968 Cadillac Eldorado Camino here on eBay currently bidding for $10,400 reserve-not-met with a few hours to go.
