Tom Wilkenshaw Racing Kit: 1990 Jaguar XJS

I haven't made up my mind about this next car...so I'm going to post it and let you guys tell me if it is right on the money or a bridge too far.  Anyway, the background behind this car is that back in the 80s the management at Jaguar didn't want to spend the money to go racing, but a fellow by the name of Tom Wilkenshaw ran a privateer entry into ETCC (European Touring Car Championship) Group A (that's the big boys) and it was a success.  Watch some on-track action here.  Regardless, the seller tells us that Jaguar sold some 250 examples of the TWR racing body-kits and only 50 remain...various websites both confirm and refute this suggestion...and to be honest...I dunno. The V12 Days of XMas: 1985 Jaguar XJS

The Jaguar V12 engine was launched in 1971 for the E-Type road car, but the design was originally created for the mad XJ13 LeMans racer.  A few years later, the engine was stuffed into the Malcolm Sayer/Doug Thorpe designed XJS...and MANY years later you can get one for the price of a years worth of Starbucks lattes.  Find this 1985 Jaguar XJS offered for $1500 in SF Bay Area, CA via craigslist. GRR8KAT: 1991 Jaguar XJS

The Jaguar XJS was a luxury grand tourer that survived with only a few changes over an impressive 21 year lifespan.  Production of the Malcolm Sayer and Doug Thorpe designed 2+2 started in 1975, had a minor makeover in 1982, and a more significant re-design in 1992 and the last cars left the factory in 1996.  Today's example is a really nice preserved example in British Racing Green with a saddle tan interior and a very reasonable asking price. Big Cat: 1995 Jaguar XJS V12

For a measly three grand ask, this V12 Jaguar coupe gives some serious displacement and a lot cache' at your local country club for the dollar.  Hold off searching YouTube for open V12 exhaust clips till after reading the entire article.  The classically styled Jag coupe was a rare bird with only 59 V12's built for 1995.  The punched out 6.0 12 cylinder engine was good for 301 horsepower and 351 lbs of torque so it will not snap your neck like a modern performance car.  Find this 1995 Jaguar XJS for sale in Wilton, CT for $3,000 via craigslist.

Xtra Junkyard Swap: 1989 Jaguar XJS Convertible w/ SBC

Back in the day of the Trapper Keeper, every third rear drive import that needed a head gasket got a 350 out of whatever conversion van was sitting in the yard. Often times, the SBC (small block Chevy) was only a marginal performance improvement over whatever came out but at a fraction of the cost repairing the bricked ‘furrin’ motor.
