I Told You So...Again: 1990 Mazda MX-5 Miata

Back in 2015 we featured a 6k mile first generation MX-5 that was picked up by Jesse at Barnfinds.com and then sold for about the cost of 10 typical 200k MX-5s and at the time I wrote "Whoever buys this car will have a very nice example of one of the best selling roadsters of all time...but he will be faced with the same conundrum as the current seller -- how do you enjoy a car without racking up the miles?  Likely, this story will be continued."  The car was subsequently sold by the then owner because..well..you know.  A few months later in July 2016 the car showed back up on craigslist (now with 8k miles) with the then current owner trying to milk $11k from the little red cash cow.  Two years later and this car is back on the market, now with several modifications, 11,500 miles and offered for $11,500 -- find this 1990 Mazda MX-5 Miata offered for sale in Menlo Park, CA via craigslist. 4th Tour: 1972 BMW 2002 with Ford 5.0

Remember that BMW 2002 that wasn't a BMW 2002?  No?  It was a tube frame chassis with some BMW parts hanging out on top of a small block Ford V8 and it went from $6k...then $10k..and finally for $15 with a new paint job each time -- just read up on this article from 2013.  The beast is back for sale -- find this 1972 (or 1969?) Jaguaint: 1980 Jaguar XJS with LT1 V8 6-Speed

Last week we posted a few questionable Jaguar machines that had been Chevified with a carburetor fed small block mated to a TH350 slushbox, but today I've got a fuel injected Jaguaro with a 6-speed manual box...but you've seen this car before when it sold for something above $7k.  Find this 1980 Jaguar XJS with LT1 V8 offered for $17,500 near St Louis, MO via craigslist. No Love: 1990 Mazda MX-5 Miata

I don't want to be one of those people who says I told you so...but...no strike that.  I do want to gloat about this one.  Let's rewind.  In Sept of 2015 Jesse from Barnfinds picked up a 6,000 mile MX-5 Miata from a ranch in Sun Valley, ID and then sold it in November of 2015 for $8,100 on eBay. We picked up the scent in March 2016 when it was offered in Mountain View, CA for $15,000 firm, but that may have been a scam after I reached out to Jesse for confirmation...however, now the exactly same car is now listed  in San Jose, CA via craigslist, this time with new pictures and more legitimacy.  Find this 1990 Mazda MX-5 Miata with 8,000 miles offered for $11,000 via craigslist.  Tip from Matt V.

Bill Gates' Repeat Offender: 1983 Porsche 944

 There are some really terrible shows catering to car guys on cable television, but the Discovery Channel has a few decent shows, including the Fast N' Loud, which can be best described as the cast of Duck Dynasty hosts the new Top Gear.  Anyway, the Fast N' Loud guys run something called the Gas Monkey Garage and regularly sell interesting classics on eBay, including this previously featured on DT Porsche 944.  Find this 1983 Porsche 944 here on eBay bidding for $2,025 with 6 days to go, located in Dallas, TX.

5k: Suspended Animation: 1988 Citroen CX 2200 TRS

Update March 4, 2016:  The Citroen CX is an oddball French sedan/fastback (don't call it a hatchback because it has its own trunk in the back) "executive car" that combined a complex hydropneumatic self-leveling suspension with 4-cylinder powerplants to replace the venerable ID/DS in Citroen's lineup.  This particular car has been for sale for at least a year, possibly for much more.  Find this 1988 Citroen CX 2200 TRS offered for $6,000 in Plano, TX via craigslist.  Tip from Michael B.

Repeat Offender: 1965 Chevrolet Corvette C2

We first featured this crazy rattle can panel painted Vette back in 2013 when it was ostensibly hauled from the garage of a guy (we'll call him Larry) who owned it from 1974-2013 -- now it is featured sans faux side header-pipes, but with some egregious ill fitting drag style wheels (front and rear).  Find this 1965 Chevrolet Corvette C2 here on eBay bidding for $19,100 reserve-not-met with 5 days to go, located in Lompoc, CA.

This next car was last featured as a seller submission here in Jan of 2014, but it is now offered by a small dealer near the LAX airport for a reasonable asking price.  The previous owner and recent builder/restorer of this car is stand up guy and early friend of DT, so I give this thing three thumbs up.  Find this 1963 Renault R8 offered for $6,500 in Lawndale, CA via craigslist.  Tip from Ryan.

Repeat Offender? 1970 Ford Torino King Cobra

The automotive restoration industry is a huge money making and money consuming industry depending on which side of the checkbook you sit.  According to a 2013 SEMA report, the automotive restoration industry was pegged at around $1.3 billion USD per year.  Where does that money go?  Well, if I was a betting man, I'd say a big chunk went into turning this 1970 Ford Torino King Cobra from a sub $20k junker featured on Daily Turismo in 2012 to a rotisserie restored example here on eBay bidding for $129,900 buy-it-now located in Plymouth, MI with 7 days to go.

10k: Yoshifab V8lvo Again: 1992 Volvo 740 with LS1 V8 Swap

 At first glance this simple Volvo 740 might look like another soccer mom mobile, but peek under the hood and...great horns on Thor's helmet...the Yoshifab LS1 Volvo is back for sale again.  You might remember when it first appeared in late 2012 from its builder Yoshifab,(who sold it for $8k according to his facebook page), it popped back up on ebay in March, then April 2013 from a seller in Ohio and then back on ebay in October of 2014 where it finally sold for $10,020. The 2nd generation Ford Cortina was built by Ford of Britain starting in 1968 with a slogan "The New Cortina is more Cortina."  It used the same formula of Kent inline-4 power up front and simple lightweight goodness everywhere else.  Today's example is a highly modified track version of the Cortina and it has been featured here before. We featured a Ford Galaxie Andy Griffith Mayberry tribute car back in May of this year and recently got a tip from DT reader Linda that the feature car can be seen on the Blowing Rock, NC city webcam here.  On a hunch, I hit ebay with a search for a similar car and...wouldn't you know it...someone is selling a 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 Mayberry tribute car on ebay with a starting bid of $12,900 in the nearby town of Huntersville, NC with one day to go.
