1985 Dodge Shelby Charger and 1986 Shelby GLH Turbo

The Dodge Charger was a little hatchback with a grand name - but it wasn't until Carroll Shelby got his 10-gallon hat involved that things got fun.  The base Shelby Charger was a hot-hatch Charger -but the real tire burner was the Shelby Charger GLH - which stands for Goes Like Hell.  Today we've got an interesting his & her set of Shelby Turbos.  Find this 1985 Dodge Shelby Charger and 1986 Dodge Shelby GLH Turbo offered for $6,500 near Houston, TX via craigslist. Tip from Jeff.

Still For Sale: 1985 Dodge Omni GLH Turbo

The GLH tag on the back of this Dodge Omni has nothing to do with Great Looking Hair -- the spray on hair-in-a-can bald spot cover that was all the rage back...well...when this car was new.  It also has nothing to do with the regional airport located just outside of Greenville, Mississippi -- no, the GLH stands for Goes Like Hell, a name chosen for the car by Mr. Carroll Shelby himself to describe the little compacts willingness to accelerate.  Find this 1985 Dodge Omni GLH Turbo offered for $5,200 in Gainesville, GA via craigslist.  Tip from Matt C.

5k: Shelby Style: 1985 Dodge Omni GLH

The Dodge Omni GLH (Goes Like Hell) was a peppy little hatchback from the 1980s (1984-1986 to be precise) that was the lovechild of Carroll Shelby and an econobox Dodge.  The combination was magical, with the lightweight and practical 4-door hatch getting a turbocharged engine, upgraded suspension and the speed to embarrass all but the fastest machinery of the day.  Few were built and even fewer remain, but I like my hot hatches like my steak, rare but black on the outside.  Find this 1985 Dodge Omni GLH offered for $5,900 near Atlanta, GA via craigslist.  Tip from FuelTruck.

O is for Overruled: 1986 Dodge Omni GLH-S

"Honey, I can explain. The car that's about to do a piledriver on our checking account could really be worth a lot someday. I know it looks like a worthless 30-year-old Dodge crapbox but trust me, because it has compressed air shoved through it and a bunch of SHELBY badges slapped on it, it's a legend. Please don't tell your mother. Thanks, I love you too." Find this 1986 Dodge Omni GLH-S in Omaha, NE for $12,000 via Autotrader.

40 of 50: Vanessa: 1986 Shelby GLH-S #321 of 500

The Dodge Omni was a FWD compact car developed by Simca in France, and in the US it was turbocharged from the factory to create the Omni GLH (Goes Like Hell).  At the end of production Carroll Shelby purchased the last 500 cars from the assembly line and took them to his California factory for additional modifications and rebadged them as Shelby GLH-S (Goes Like Hell, S'more).  They are an odd and rare piece of automotive history that can be purchased for next to nothing.  Find this 1986 Shelby GLH-S for sale in Howell, MI for $5000 via craigslist.  Tip from Kaibeezy.  Well that was embarrassing...we forgot the link first time around...fixed it!
