The Nissan Juke may be a bizarre looking little freak of a mini-SUV (although the Juke-R version has some promise) it has cool rear door handles mounted high up so that the kids who are most likely to need regular access to the back can't open their own doors. Great job Nissan.
Standard contest rules are as follows:
1. Only one car per comment (be sure to hit the refresh button on your browser before you post in case someone else has posted since you loaded the page). Do not nest the replies, just reply to the main post -- if you reply to someone else's comment it should be in reference to his comment and not another submission.
2.

4. One submission per make/model.
5. Each car must be a production model.
6. No anonymous submissions -- pick a name with the Name/URL dropdown.
Ready....Set...handles!

The four-door early Pathfinders.
ReplyDeleteThe Pathfinder was an odd case, it was sold in the US as a two-door, but in Mexico the equivalent was a significantly longer four-door, whcih I'd have bought.
What eventually came to the US as a four-door Pathfinder was considerably shorter than what I'd seen in Mexico, and I didn't much care for it.
Both the early as well as 2nd generation Pathfinders had these door handles. Infiniti QX4 as well.
DeleteJesus, get out of my head....this happens all the time....saw the topic, immediately thought of the 4 door pathfinder, and then see you with the first comment---great minds think alike!
DeleteI still left you the Xterra as unclaimed :)
DeleteYeah A little known fact is that those goofy vestigial back doors were a direct result of a disagreement over the price of frozen chicken in Germany
DeleteInteresting touch point in history, Hugh. I think at this point, after 50+ years, it may also have something to do with market dominance, here in the States. I'd agree that the "Chicken Tax" was the start of the whole process but it's not like VW has made any attempt to assemble the Amarok here for the past five years, for example.
DeleteOf course, that's probably going to change real soon...I hope so.

DeleteDon't forget suicide doors, folks! Can you think of any that have the handle on the inside of the pillar and not the doorjamb? For example;

VW Tiguan i know somebody spelled it wrong and just test drove a Honda HRV pretty nice little rig but gutless with the the civic1.8 and cvt.
ReplyDeleteThe Taigun has, however the Tiguan doesn't. I would think the 6-speed should be the only way the HR-V could be any fun. Just like the Honda Fit it's based off of. Too bad they only come as such in 2WD form.
DeleteNope, I didn't spell it wrong....I was definitely referring to the "Taigun".
DeleteI would say AMC & Mitsubishi sorry no model ....

Okay i stand corrected there is a TaiGun VW made in Brazil i use to live in South America /Montevideo Uruguay and there was plenty of stuff from Brazil that the American or world market never got. There was a Ford Falcon from Argentina that did not look like are domestic one either. Cudos.......John
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of great VW models conceived by and/or exclusive to the Brazilian market such as the Gol, SP2, and of course, the BrasÃlia.
DeleteOr the Karmann-Ghia TC which from certain angles almost looks like a 911:

I've always thought of the SP2 as an early 924.
Das Brazilian Auto ?
ReplyDeleteDon't slow down now, folks! The Suzuki Jimny is an interesting one because the handle was primarily on the pillar but also on the door.
