Fuel of Slowtan: 1983 Nissan Sentra Diesel

I've owned and driven some slow cars in my time...so I don't say this lightly...but this next car is slower than a herd of snails on a plate of peanut butter.  The basic gasoline powered Sentra was slow with its 1.6 liter gasoline 4-banger drooling to 60mph in about 14 seconds, but the 1.7 liter CD17 non-turbo diesel was an absolute boat anchor and would have possibly gotten to 60 in less than 18 seconds with a strong tail wind.  But...if my experience owning an '81 Rabbit Diesel taught me anything...it is that slow can be exhilarating -- just try merging on the freeway and tell me your pulse rate doesn't skyrocket like a snail trying to cross the racing surface during the annual Bonneville salt flat speed week.  Find this 1983 Nissan Sentra Diesel offered for $3500 in Cerritos, CA via craigslist.

R32 Slowzilla: 1991 Nissan Skyline GTS25

For decades the Nissan Skyline was forbidden fruit over here in the USA -- and it wasn't until they replaced the classic inline-6 with a V6 that it was imported into the USA and then it was called an Infinity G35 (and alternatively Nissan GTR in Godzilla spec) and it was really a disappointment. Thankfully you can import older Skylines into the America these days and you can even find cheap examples if you are willing to live with an automatic gearbox and a low spec non-turbo version. BumbleBe1: 1987 Nissan Be-1

I love it when a seller tells a story.  And this next seller does deliver the goods.  Not only does he do a good job of articulating his reasons for selling the car (which aren't really necessary in the sale of a vehicle) but he also goes to great lengths to show that he is indeed a 61 year old man who just purchased a new Ford Ranger and even includes a selfie of said self and Ranger.  The last part of the story that I love is the fact that he is both reasonable in his asking price and firm in his conviction -- so don't send him a text message with a random and un-substantiated offer.  Personally, as a used car seller on the web, the thing I hate the most are random low ball SMS offers that have zero actual substance.  I usually reply with a "yes, I will take $xxx offer, but only if you immediately send me $1000 non-refundable deposit."  Never had a taker. Terrano Regulus: 2001 Infiniti QX4

You might have never heard of the Infiniti QX4 before today...well...because it is an oddball luxury SUV from Nissan's luxury brand sold from 1997-2003. You can barely throw a timing belt without hitting a Nissan Pathfinder around these parts, but good luck finding a QX4 -- I have to imagine that Infiniti only sold a dozen or so...but according to this random website, Infiniti sold about 20k a year -- not much in the modern world, but more than a Nissan GTR. Casper The Friendly Ghosn: 1992 Nissan March

This next car has a mouth that is big enough to swallow a full grown man...like maybe an automotive executive and chairman who needs to maybe flee to his home country.  He could easily stow away in that gaping mouth and emerge once the cargo plane has cleared customs.  In theory.   And I would have saved this car for the Idles of March (et tu Nissan?)...but it'll probably be gone by then because it is sweeeeet! All About Those Lights, No Trouble: 1988 Nissan Pulsar NX

The Nissan Pulsar NX was this oddball mutant from the 80s that could be configured as a coupe, hatchback/wagon or open top...and that was all in the same vehicle.  The only thing constant about the Pulsar is its radical tailights and the fact that you don't see them on the road anymore.  Shame. Buick V8 Rad Rod: 1970 Datsun 521 Pickup

Z32 5-Speed: 1991 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo

The 300ZX was a 2 door sports car from Nissan during the great Japanese sports car boom of the 1990s and featured a host of technology in a Isao Sono & Toshio Yamashita designed body.  In recent years the 300ZX's competitors (Supra, NSX, 993 etc) have gone through their depreciation curves and the good original ones are commanding prices well above original MSRP, but for some reason the 300ZX (and Mitsu's 3000GT/Dodge Stealth) have cheap for years...but I think that might be changing as cars from the 90s become classics...which is strange and makes me feel old. 350 Horsepower: 1991 Nissan Sentra SE-R Turbo

The B13 generation Nissan Sentra isn't a particularly memorable car in basic spec, but the factory hod rod SE-R offers an oddly fun package.  The combination of a robust and torquey inline-4, good brakes, light curb weight, and limited slip differential puts the SE-R into the ugly-but-good category of used cars....but you'll never find a stock example that hasn't been thrashed into the ground.  Today's next example has been fitted with a humongous turbocharger...so that's either good or bad depending on how you feel about torque steer or passing state mandated emissions tests.  Find this 1991 Nissan Sentra SE-R Turbo offered for $5500 in South Jersey, NJ via craigslist. LT1 V8 + 6Spd: 1973 Nissan 240Z

Nissan's athletic 240Z was sold in the USA with a Datsun badge and a silky smooth inline-6 to go with its ninja-like reflexes.  For years, folks joked that Japanese cars would never be collectable, and 240Z prices hovered above scrap value, so many were (for better or worse) turned into hot rods. Today we've got one of those hot rods and it looks like it could use some freshening...but could be fun when done. Find this 1973 Nissan 240Z offered for $6500 in Phoenix, AZ via craigslist. Fun In The Sun: 2004 Nissan 350Z Touring Convertible

I hate to say it...but the Z33 generation Nissan 350Z hasn't aged well at all.  The interior surface coatings are about as durable as the coating on an M&M and the interior design (eg gauge color) has aged about as well as Miley Cyrus. Sure...there are some people who might find it attractive, but even Liam Hemsworth ditched his wrecked one for a new model.  However, they do offer a decent level of performance and can be had with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a rag top. Pure European Allroader: 1994 Nissan Mistral Type X Turbo

This next car comes as a submission from JB1025 who writes: Kind of an Odd Fellow er Duck here.. Odd is an understatement here, this thing is from another planet, a bearded Spock dimension Nissan Pathfinder if you ask me.  It is a Spanish assembled Nissan that was exported to Japan where it was sold new and has finally made its way to Seattle.  Strange times. Off or On Road: 2008 Nissan Xterra

The Nissan Xterra was released for the 2000 model year, right at the time when Ford was in the heat of the Explorer/Firestone crisis, and quite a few SUV shoppers skipped the Ford dealer and found themselves in a body-on-frame Nissan that put an emphasis on ruggedness and affordability over luxury.  A few years later they are very cheap and still trail ready. Head on a Pike: 1989 Nissan Pao

Whenever I find a Nissan Pike car (Pao, S-Cargo, Figaro, Be-1, K10-Micra) I find myself inexplicably writing about the car.  The Pike cars beat the New Beetle, New Mini, PT Cruiser to the retro-style market, but keeping everything in perspective --the old Mini had been retro-styled since about 1970, the Beetle since about 1960.  What was old is now new again...et cetera. A Nissan Z In Disguise: 2005 Infiniti G35 Coupe

Modern (post 2000 model year) cars are fast, complicated, and comfortable.  Some are still too expensive, but others have depreciated into serious DT territory because of the immutable laws of supply (the OEM sold a ton when new) and demand (the newer versions are cooler/better/nicer smelling)...which have oddly favored the Infiniti version of the Nissan 350Z, which was known as the G35 coupe, at least until Infiniti renamed their entire lineup to be Q70, Q42, QGeewhiz Batman, I can't decipher this bloody nomenclature.  Anyway, this next car comes from the time when you could tell what kind of Infiniti you were getting.
