Casper The Friendly Ghosn: 1992 Nissan March

This next car has a mouth that is big enough to swallow a full grown man...like maybe an automotive executive and chairman who needs to maybe flee to his home country.  He could easily stow away in that gaping mouth and emerge once the cargo plane has cleared customs.  In theory.   And I would have saved this car for the Idles of March (et tu Nissan?)...but it'll probably be gone by then because it is sweeeeet! Find this 1992 Nissan March offered for $3000 in Seattle, WA via craigslist. Tip from JB1025.

10k: Idus Martii Report: 1968 Fiat Dino Type 135

Beware the non-idling cars of March, celebrated today on the ides of March.  Buying a car that doesn't run isn't simply a risk associated with the cost of the engine that you'll need to fix.  It also means that you can't test the transmission, brakes, suspension, steering and all the other items that need replacement.  Your good deal becomes a money pit and you are spending all your weekends fixing stuff.  The idles of March may come, but until that engine runs, they have not yet gone.  Find this 1968 Fiat Dino Type 135 here on eBay currently bidding for $8,101 with 5 days to go, located in Homestead, FL.

5k: Idus Martiae: 1973 Volvo 1800 ES Project

Happy Sunday to all readers out there, hope your Ides of March is going well. Your local high priest should be preparing to sacrifice a sheep to Jupiter at midday, but in the meantime you can celebrate the assassination of the ancient Roman version of Hitler (Mr. Gaius Julius Caesar) by checking out this 1973 Volvo 1800 ES Project offered here on eBay bidding for $325 reserve-not-met with $4,500 buy-it-now, located in San Antonio, TX.  Tip from Rene C.

0k: Beware The Idles of March: 1991 Honda CRX HF

Beware the non-idling cars of March, celebrated today on the ides of March.  Picking up a car that doesn't run isn't simply a risk associated with the cost of the engine that you need to sort/fix/rebuild.  It also means that you can't test the transmission, brakes, suspension, steering and often a car with a busted engine will need every other wear component replaced as well.  Suddenly, your good deal becomes a money pit and you are spending all your weekends fixing stuff.  The ides of March may come, but until that engine runs, they have not yet gone.  Find this 1991 Honda CRX HF currently bidding for $600 with 1 day to go in Elizabethton, TN via ebay.

DTO: Broke Angel: 1959 BMW 502 3.2 Super

The opportunity for regular working class folk to get into the seriously good stuff seen at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is indeed limited.  Well-to-do collectors have driven the price of desirable cars to undesirable levels due to an almost unlimited demand for vintage cars, but a limited supply.   As internet pundits, we see car deals in the same way a random dude playing fantasy hedge fund manager (tm!) sees stock deals, we gasp and shout (to ourselves) look at what a deal this is.  Today, we initially thought we found the next best thing to 1984 Apple stock...this 1959 BMW 502 3.2 Super offered for $25,000 in Greenville, CA via craigslist.  Tip from Kaibeezy.

3k: Interweb Spider: 1974 Fiat 124 Sport Spider

The collective car hunting power of the readers of Daily Turismo never ceases to amaze-- especially given a quick off-the-cuff challenge like "find a good Spider."  There was an extremely clean Triumph TR6 that Kaibeezy found, a rare 3000GT drop top from FTB, some nice 80s Italian ladies from AbnMike, but nothing beats the price/value ratio of the Fiat Spider suggested by commenter Gianni.  Find this 1974 Fiat 124 Sport Spider offered for $2,850 near Seattle, WA via craigslist.

0k: Beware The Non Idling Cars of March: 1983 SAAB 900 SE

It doesn't get much more budget friendly than free...even if the car needs an engine overhaul.  Truth be told, I once lost money on a free car..more on that one later.  The SAAB 900 is a favorite of Radio Free Berkeley crowd, but sometimes you are too busy building pirate radio stations and sticking it to the man to keep your SAAB in top shape.  Then the engine grenades and it gets parked near bushes and slowly becomes one with nature.  Instead of selling it for profit like some kind of greedy capitalist slimeball, why not give it away to an aspiring artist who wants to cut it into pieces...whoa man...that must be the drugs talking.  Find this 1983 SAAB 900 Turbo SE offered for free to a 'good home' in Berkeley, CA via craigslist.

10k: Beware The Idles of March: 1953 Kaiser Dragon

If you thought we'd miss the chance to create a once-a-year badge to commemorate a 2000 year old assassination...you've got another thing coming!!  Beware the Idles of March, and today we are going to feature a car named after the most famous of Roman general, statesman and emperor, Gaius Julius Caesar (hail Caesar!).  The Kaiser-Frazer Corp (as it was originally known) wasn't named after the famous "dictator in perpetuity" but its founder was Henry J Kaiser whose German ancestors had chosen the name Kaiser which can be traced back to the Roman name for its emporers "Caesar".  Ergo, in a way, the Kaiser branded cars were named after our favorite Roman version of North Korea's Kim Jong-il.  Find this 1953 Kaiser Dragon located in Northwest, OK for the asking price of $10,000 via craigslist.
