6 Speed Manual Equipped: 2014 Ford Fusion SE EcoBoost

The Ford Fusion was introduced for the 2006 model year as a replacement for Ford's aging mid sized Taurus platform.  The Taurus name did survive on something that was called the Ford Five Hundred and the Taurus over various years...but the Fusion was the mid sized sedan offering that was surprisingly offered with a 6-speed manual box for a few years, including this next one that is powered by the 1.6 liter EcoBoost 4-banger. Find this 2014 Ford Fusion SE EcoBoost offered for $6,500 in Danbury, CT via craigslist. Tip from Cory.

Love Solving Puzzles? 1991 Lotus Elan M100 SE

A challenge...you say? The Lotus Elan M100 was a wedge shaped convertible penned by Peter Stevens (Jaguar XJR-15, McLaren F1, Lotus Esprit, MG ZR, ZS, ZT & TF) and built in the UK from 1989 through 1995...and later produced by Kia in South Korea under the name Kia Elan (and Kia Vigato).  The Elan used a lightweight chassis and a name borrowed from the historical Lotus archives...but it was powered by an Isuzu (and later Kia) 4-banger mated to the front wheels.  The only problem with this next example is when the seller states: "Will need someone who is handy and loves hunting for parts, solving puzzles." Yikes! Or sweet!  Find this 1991 Lotus Elan M100 SE offered for $6,200 in Castro Valley, OR via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

LS3 V8 Powered: 1985 Pontiac Fiero SE

The Pontiac Fiero was a redheaded step child living in the shadow of GM's favorite son -- the Chevrolet Corvette.  This meant that the little perky mid-engine runabout only got a small V6 and never the V8 or the performance it deserved.  Not today.  Today, the Fiero gets to fly...FLY AWAY FREE FIERO FLY AWAY!  Find this 1985 Pontiac Fiero SE offered for $13,900 near Chicago, IL. Tip from Matt C.

Turboadacious: 1989 Lotus Esprit SE

The Lotus Esprit (es-spree) enjoyed a remarkably long life with only minor changes in its 28 year lifespan.  Somehow, the little UK based car builder managed to produce over 10,000 examples from 1976-2004  Find this 1989 Lotus Esprit SE here on eBay bidding for $8,100 with 3 days to go, located in Orlando, FL.

Maximum Sunday: 2002 Nissan Maxima SE 6-Spd

Maximum Sunday continues with this next Nissan Maxima, this time a fifth generation example offered at a decent price.  The fifth generation Maxima is a few horsepower down from the next generation, but it is a few tenths quicker to 60mph and might be a better car.  Find this 2002 Nissan Maxima SE 6-Spd offered for $3,500 in Lawrenceville, GA via craigslist.

Maximum Sunday: 2004 Nissan Maxima SE

All Nissan Maxima...all Sunday long.  Wait, what?  Seriously, it is going to be an all Maxima day here on the web's best source of El Caminos, monster trucks, and controversial engine swaps.  But none of that today...just pure cheap maximum carnage.  First up is this 2004 Nissan Maxima SE 6-speed offered here on eBay for $5,860 buy-it-now located in Paterson, NJ with 2 days to go.

5k: Chevy S10 Power: 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250 SE W111

The W111 coupe was built from 1961 to 1971 and it overlaps production of the W111 and W108 sedan chassis.  The later (post '65) W111 coupes could be considered a W108 coupe, but the two door versions offer an immensely long hood and graceful rear glass shape at fairly high price point...unless they've got some wacky engine transplant...then they are dirt cheap.  Find this 1967 Mercedes Benz 250 SE W111 with Chevy S10 Power offered for $7,900 in Los Angeles, CA via craigslist.

10k: Front Engined: 1988 Porsche 924S SE Special Edition

The Porsche 924 was getting old when they introduced the 924S version, but that doesn't mean it isn't a good used car to get today, especially when you consider how cheap you can find a low production version like the SE (Special Edition).  It also benefits from all the learning of the years of 924 production and ends up being best of the breed (short of the extremely limited production 924 Carrera GT).  Find this 1988 Porsche 924S Special Edition offered for $10,000 in Alameda, CA via craigslist.  Tip from Kaibeezy.

2k: Unicorn Sleeper: 1992 Nissan Maxima SE

Back in the early 1990s, if you needed a fast front-wheel-drive car to get to an MC Hammer concert, you would be best advised to avoid the popular choices like your buddy's Honda CRX, Integra GSR, or VW GTI -- and instead head to your parents garage and borrow the family Maxima.  But it couldn't be just any Maxima, it had to be the 1992-1994 Maxima SE that used the 3rd generation chassis and the powerful VE30DE V6 mated to a 5-speed manual.  Find this 1992 Nissan Maxima SE offered for an undisclosed price, located in Lancaster, CA via craigslist.

5k: Not For Fun, For FUNDS: 2000 Ford Taurus SE Wagon for $3k

We here at DT have a mission to get as many cars into our garages as possible for as many different types of driving; but there's one type of vehicle that is hard for many of us to escape.  Something to haul the wife and kids to work/school everyday that isn't prone to unexpected delays due to mechanical failure.  Hunsbloger keeps pounding us with his low cost of ownership and operation of no less than 4 Tauri/Sable as the cheapest way to get something safe, economical and most of all cheap enough to afford us the opportunity to spend our hard earned cash elsewhere.  Trust us when we tell you that is the only reason this 80,000 mile 2000 Ford Taurus Wagon, with Duratec V6 offered at $3,400 here on eBay  is gracing our pages this morning.  The low mileage ones are all but gone, which makes this 80,000 mile example worth your time to consider.

5k: Orange Creamsicle: 1973 Dodge Charger SE

The Dodge Charger was introduced in 1966 as a competitor to the pony car offerings from Ford and GM, but in typical Chrysler fashion, it was plus sized and late to the party.  It wasn't a bad car, it just exemplifies the typical Mopar approach to car building, which is to build something similar to the other guy's segment winners, but with a twist.  It's like Ford and Chevy are playing a ultra competitive soccer game at the local park and the Dodge guy shows up in full lacrosse gear.  Guys, I'm ready to play.  Find this 1973 Dodge Charger SE offered for $6,000 in Lodi, CA via craigslist.  Tip from Kaibeezy.

5k: Salt Pork: 1991 Pontiac Bonneville SE, 32k Miles

The Pontiac Bonneville was a plus sized American sedan built from 1958 to 2005.  The Bonneville was a mediocre pile of cliches about old people when it made the switch from rear-drive to front-drive in 1987, but nothing could turn in the tide of falling sales.  The Bonneville went out of production a few years before Pontiac closed its doors for good in 2010.   Just because it was a turd when new doesn't mean that a minty clean example with low miles for a song/dance isn't appealing to the cheapskate car nut. Find this 1991 Pontiac Bonneville SE offered for $7,950 or best offer in Fort Worth, TX via ebay.

0k: Beware The Non Idling Cars of March: 1983 SAAB 900 SE

It doesn't get much more budget friendly than free...even if the car needs an engine overhaul.  Truth be told, I once lost money on a free car..more on that one later.  The SAAB 900 is a favorite of Radio Free Berkeley crowd, but sometimes you are too busy building pirate radio stations and sticking it to the man to keep your SAAB in top shape.  Then the engine grenades and it gets parked near bushes and slowly becomes one with nature.  Instead of selling it for profit like some kind of greedy capitalist slimeball, why not give it away to an aspiring artist who wants to cut it into pieces...whoa man...that must be the drugs talking.  Find this 1983 SAAB 900 Turbo SE offered for free to a 'good home' in Berkeley, CA via craigslist.
