How hard can it be to import a vehicle from Latvia?  Ignoring the current Coronavirus induced global shipping issues, I have to think that getting a car from Latvia imported into the USA and legal to drive on the street might be difficult for even the most seasoned car importer. But this next Saab Turbo is sooooooooo much nicer than the average Saab story that you find driving around on the mean streets of anytown USA.  And this car reminds me so much of the Draken 99 EMS that I want to ignore all of the warning signs and buy it.  Find this 1979 Saab 900 Turbo here on eBay bidding for $8600 in Latvia with a few hours to go.

A good, older 2-door Saab can be hard to find. They seem to mysteriously go from good condition to Valhalla with no in-between. We are pleased to have caught this one in the wild. 1986 Saab 900S 4-Door

The Saab 900 was the sequel to the 99 platform when it was launched in 1978 and actually used many of the 99 parts/body/engines/etc.  The biggest noticeable change for the 900 was the elongated hood, ostensibly designed to meet US crash standards, but probably just another psychedelic drug induced decision by the guys from Trollhättan.  It may have looked like the 99 on Viagra, but the 900 lasted for decades and was eventually replaced with a GM2900 platform evil doppelganger that Saab fans don't like to talk about.  Today's 900 is a remarkable find with an undisclosed asking price, find this 1986 Saab 900S 4-Door for sale on saabnet, located in Somers, CT.

It doesn't get much more budget friendly than free...even if the car needs an engine overhaul.  Truth be told, I once lost money on a free car..more on that one later.  The SAAB 900 is a favorite of Radio Free Berkeley crowd, but sometimes you are too busy building pirate radio stations and sticking it to the man to keep your SAAB in top shape.  Then the engine grenades and it gets parked near bushes and slowly becomes one with nature.  Instead of selling it for profit like some kind of greedy capitalist slimeball, why not give it away to an aspiring artist who wants to cut it into pieces...whoa man...that must be the drugs talking.  Find this 1983 SAAB 900 Turbo SE offered for free to a 'good home' in Berkeley, CA via craigslist.

3k: Special Performance Group: 1985 Saab 900 Turbo SPG

In 1984 Saab introduced a high performance version of the 900 sedan, called the Aero in Europe and the SPG (Special Performance Group) in the US market.  The Aero/SPG featured an uprated 16V turbo engine and was only available in a few "sporty" colors.  Find this 1985 Saab 900 Turbo SPG for sale in Sacramento, CA for $3,100 via craigslist.
