Bring A Friend: 1988 Porsche 924S

The Porsche 924 doesn't get much attention at the national Concours d' Fancypants events around the manicured lawns of America, but it is one of the cars credited with saving Porsche when times were tough.  People may pay a bazillion dollars for a classic Porsche 911RS, but let's face it, the 200 that were sold new didn't exactly provide much cash to keep the lights on at the factory in Stuttgart...which is where the workhorse 924 came into play.  Find this 1988 Porsche 924S offered for $1,450 in Sunnyvale, CA.  Tip from Matthew.

A few years from now, someone is going to stumble onto this post...and I think he/she is going to say -- wow, remember when these were this cheap?  It will be the internet equivalent of stumbling onto a collection of vintage Autotrader magazines today, and I just can't see a special edition of any 1980s Porsche being relegated to cheap car hell for eternity?  Find this 1988 Porsche 924S LeMans Special Edition here on eBay bidding for $3,583 reserve-not-met and $6,995 buy-it-now located in Bohemia, NY.

10k: Front Engined: 1988 Porsche 924S SE Special Edition

The Porsche 924 was getting old when they introduced the 924S version, but that doesn't mean it isn't a good used car to get today, especially when you consider how cheap you can find a low production version like the SE (Special Edition).  It also benefits from all the learning of the years of 924 production and ends up being best of the breed (short of the extremely limited production 924 Carrera GT).  Find this 1988 Porsche 924S Special Edition offered for $10,000 in Alameda, CA via craigslist.  Tip from Kaibeezy.

5k: Special Ed: 1988 Porsche 924S LeMans

Do you yearn for the prestige of owning a rare car without the downsides of fabricating your own spark plugs from scratch?  There is an easy way to get the best of both worlds, just pickup a special edition of a mass produced car.  You now get a supply of junkyard parts, healthy aftermarket, and that fuzzy tingly feeling of owning something special....or your psoriasis acting up again.  Porsche built over 150,000 examples of the Porsche 924, but only 900 left the factory (500 headed for the USA) as the LeMans special edition.  Find this 1988 Porsche 924 LeMans special edition here on eBay currently bidding for $4,250 reserve-not-met with 4 days to go, located in Washington, D.C.

DTO: Mintiest of Minty: 1987 Porsche 924S

This next feature comes from a dealer called Prestige Imports, whose motto is the cradle of acceleration.  One can only assume that the cradle of acceleration would be constructed entirely out of billet aluminum and have clearance for an LS1 sump. Regardless, this 3,500 mile 924S is about the nicest example of the 924 you can find anywhere on the planet..what is it worth?  Find this 1987 Porsche 924S offered for an undisclosed price in Lakewood, CO.

5k: Boswell's Life of 924: 1987 Porsche 924 S

In the late 18th century a Scot by the name of James Boswell wrote a detailed biography of Dr Samuel Johnson, who was a writer, poet and distinguished gentleman.  What makes Boswell's Life of Samuel Johnson famous isn't that it is the best biography ever written, simply it was the first modern biography and paved the way for hundreds of years of biographies in a way that is difficult for our modern heads to understand.  Boswell's masterpiece wasn't just a great work of literature, it was to the art of biography similiar in impact to Aristotle's contribution to logic, St Augustine's impact on Christianity or Yoda's legacy on the Jedi.  What car could possibly live up to the crescendo we've created?  Simply, the worlds first modern sports car, the Porsche 924.  Find this 1987 Porsche 924 S for sale in Scottsdale, AZ currently bidding on ebay for $2,125 with 8 days to go.

5k: Red Velvet Cake: 1987 Porsche 924S Touring 5-spd

One of our followers on 'the facebook' piped up and asked the other day if we could feature some 924S (not 924s plural, but actually the 924 S-version).  We didn't find anything for the next few days, but a good one appeared on our radar and we are happy to share it today.  Find this 1987 Porsche 924S for sale in Scottsdale, AZ currently bidding on ebay for $3.750 with 1 day to go.  Another great tip from Kaibeezylist....
