Flat 4 Powered 2+2: 2017 Subaru BRZ

The Subaru BRZ /Toyota 86 /Scion FR-S was the fruit of an arrangement between Subaru and Toyota to produce a world class 2+2 sports car for the masses.  It offered an interesting combination of Subaru flat-4 power and Toyota mechanical bits...but was assembled at Subaru's Gunma plant in Japan.  Sales in the US market for the combined BRZ/GT86/FR-S were low with something like 10,000 in 2017...so used examples have been expensive, except for this next one that has a salvage title...but nobody else will know when you are carving up the apexes of your local track. I've seen a few sketchy cars for sale in my time, but I've never encountered the term "non repairable paperwork (no title!)" before...but lemme tell ya...it's got me intrigued, mildly terrified, but just curious enough to check out the pictures.  Its like if Stormy Daniels turned out to be Daniel Stormy if you catch my drift, and this next vehicle will really drift because it runs/drives and has little wrong except...no papers.  Find this 2007 Ford Mustang GT offered here on eBay offered for $3995 in Wrightstown, NJ.

Thursday Twister: Hurricane

You'd have to be living under a rock to not know about the recent hurricanes that have devastated parts of Texas and Florida, and the flooding has been particularly hard on homes, businesses and cars. You might be able to replace the drywall in your home before the studs become covered in black mold, but according to Forbes the flooding from Irma and Harvey destroyed over a million cars & trucks.  What does that mean?  It means that junk yards are going to be bursting with molding cars -- and locals in Texas will note that the Texas Motor Speedway is being used to store the overflow of cars looking for someone who will part them out or ship them to Yemen with sketchy title status.

Mario Kart: 2002 BMW M3 E46

The BMW M3 was a good car in the 1990s, but the US version had a detuned inline-6 with almost 100 less horsepower as compared to its European counterpart.  Thankfully that was fixed around Y2K with the release of the E46 generation BMW M3 with the full monster inline-6.  Not only did the world not end, but all of that saved up bottled water could be used to refill the leaking plastic coolant expansion tanks in BMWs across the planet! Words and tip from Jeff G.  Remember that scene in the flick Minority Report, when one of the pre-cogs looks at the Tom Cruise character and screams, "RUUUUUUUUUUUNNN!!!!!"...!!?? That is exactly what one should do if ever considering buying this car. The Pontiac Solstice (aka Saturn Sky) was a Mazda MX-5 competitor from General Motors that arrived in the Pontiac and Saturn showrooms a few years late, and just in time for the 2008 carpocalypse. Ex Prison Truck: 1968 Ford F350 Flatbed

This next vehicle is a 1968 Ford F350 Flatbed offered for $1400 in Grass Valley, CA via craigslist that comes as a tip from Rod444 who writes:  Cruising CL when I found this one. Ok, there's not much special about this rig except it's back story. The seller says the 22k miles are probably original because it's been inside San Quentin prison for it's whole life.  Now imagine who may have used this rig over the years. And for what. Where they rewelding Charles Manson's cage? Did Sirhan Sirhan get a chance to practice welding with it? Who knows.  But for $1400 it might be worth it just to tell the story and still have a useful truck out at the ranch, don't you think?

The Alfa Romeo...whoa...this isn't an Alfa...this is a Fiat...right...the Fiat 124 Sport Spider was designed by Dutch-American designer Tom Tjaarda and built by Pininfarina starting in 1966 and ending in 1985.  The 124 Spider was upgraded as the years went by for performance, emissions, and safety, but the same basic chassis, suspension, and engine was retained for the entire lifespan.   Today, a used 124 Spider is an affordable way to get into an Italian car with a sweet sounding all-alloy DOHC engine mounted up front.
