Syncro de Mayo: 2004 Volkswagen R32

Welcome to Daily Turismo's Syncro de Mayo, our May 5th celebration of Volkswagen's four wheel drive system known as Syncro. Today's first entry into our symphony of synchronicity might not have used the Syncro name in its advertising literature, but the R32 Golf MkIV puts power from its VR6 engine into a haldex controlled center diff that'll put power to the rear wheels when needed. It still maintains a certain degree front front-wheel-drive understeer, but judicious application of the throttle pedal will make the little boxy shaped Golf turn and squat like a Weimaraner in heat. Find this 2004 Volkswagen R32 here on eBay offered for $12,995 buy-it-now or make-offer located in Mesa, AZ.

Cheapest Around: 2004 Volkswagen R32

The Volkswagen Golf MkIV was sold from 1999-2006 around the world, but it wasn't until the 2004 R32 edition that a true performance version was born.  The R32 took most of its components from the 3.2 liter Audi TT, including engine, transmission and suspension, but it maintains the Golf level of useability and has a cool looking front air dam...wait a minute...this R32 has a Jetta front end...what's going on!??! At least the price is right. Find this 2004 VW R32 offered for $5600 in Los Gatos, CA via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Rare and Cool: 2004 Volkswagen R32

The Volkswagen Golf MkIV was sold from 1999-2006 around the world, and the GTI version was sporty, but it wasn't until the 2004 R32 edition that a true performance version was born.  The R32 took most of its components from the 3.2 liter Audi TT, including engine, transmission and suspension, but it maintains the Golf level of useability.  The cars weren't that expensive when new, but have been practically depreciation proof, so you won't find many of the 5,000 cars produced for less than $10k...unless they have 200k miles on the clock. Find this 2004 Volkswagen R32 offered for $8000 in San Rafael, CA via craigslist.

VF Stage 2: 2004 Volkswagen R32

This next car comes as a tip from Sean S who "swore off VWs and Audis but this is awesome." Personally, I've swore in and around VW/Audi product, but never off, because you never know who your friend are until you own a late model VW/Audi!  Find this 2004 Volkswagen R32 offered for $7000 in Oxnard, CA via craigslist.

Fox Body of the South Seas - 1989 Nissan Skyline R32

by Matt -- The R32 Skyline is rapidly making its way in droves to the US now that’s it legal to do so. Since this one lacks papers, one can assume that just maybe it was jammed in the back of a container and ignored by a crooked longshoreman. So why not slide in at the bottom of the market and see if clutch kicking and slamming into guard rails is really your thing? Find this beat-all-to-hell, titleless, yet somehow still strangely intriguing 1989ish Nissan Skyline R32 in Raleigh, North Carolina for a likely very negotiable $6,999 via craigslist.

Mid Week Match-Up: SWM Seeks Fun Car To Drive & Own

Today's Mid Week Match-Up comes to us from  Evan in Pendleton, OR who is seeking a car that is both fun to drive and fun to OWN.  From Evan:
My current stable includes a black 2012 Toyota Sienna XLE and a white 1989 Saab 900 Turbo convertible. Polar opposites in terms of purpose, driving dynamics and reliability. Although the Sienna can hustle when pushed. :) I’m looking for something in between.  I live in a small town in the middle of nowhere. So whatever I get has to be generally reliable except for basics I can do myself.

Store For Two Years: 1992 Nissan Skyline GT-R R32

The R31 Skyline hardtop sedan posted last week with it's non-turbo engine and automatic gearbox is a far cry from the stupid fast GT-R you can buy in the showrooms today, but the next generation of Skyline (the R32)  became much more focused on blistering performance with the release of the all-wheel-drive versions.  Find this 1992 Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 offered here on eBay for $16,500 CAD (approx $12,372 USD) located in Quebec, Canada with 4 days to go.

10k: Syncro de Sequentail Gearbox: 2008 Volkswagen R32

The Volkswagen R32 was made in two generations, the first was a manual transmission only version of the Mk4 Golf, and the second version was a DSG only version of the Mk5 Golf.  Purists might miss the clutch pedal, but the Mk5 chassis was sharper and the DSG fires off shifts into the Haldex based all-wheel-drive system like an Thompson sub machine gun.  Find this 2008 Volkswagen R32 offered here on eBay for $12,495 buy-it-now or make-offer located in Spring, TX.

20k: Flappy Paddle Golf: 2008 VW R32 DSG

The Mk5 Volkswagen Golf was yet another revamp to VW's front drive econobox, and got a little bit nicer, a bit heavier and generally more boring than the previous incarnation. Thankfully, VW released an R32 version, only sold in the US for the 2008 model year and featuring a 3.2 liter specially tuned VR6 engine, a lightning quick shifting automatic gearbox and all-wheel-drive.  Find this 2008 VW Golf R32 with DSG transmission for sale in Syracuse, NY for $19,000 via NASIOC forums.
