Red, White & Green: 1974 GMC Sierra Grande Camper Special

What's a 'good ole' pre-smog 3/4 ton pickup worth these days?  The seller seems pretty straightforward ('cept he cain't spell breaks) and includes good shots of all the little rust areas.  On the plus side, old 'Murican trucks are SUPER easy to restore, you can buy anything you need for carpet, vinyl, headliner at your local UFO or Keyston,  As for the exterior, you leave it, and you do whatever you want to the engine exhaust.  Parts couldn't be easier to come by than for a Chebby pickup.  Find this 1974 GMC Sierra Grande Camper Special offered for $6,400 in Rancho Peñasquitos (I don't believe Rancho Penisqitos is a real place...but I could be wrong) via craigslist.

Tommy Morrison Special: 1984 Chevrolet Corvette C4

Unless you are a serious Corvette enthusiast you've probably never heard of Tommy Morrison, but he wasn't the lead singer of the Smiths or a professional boxer. However, he prepared and modified Corvettes for racing purposes back in the 80s and was credited with more SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) showroom stock victories than any other builder and he was (probably) the reason SCCA  banned the Corvette from stock classes in 1988.  Regardless, if you want to put some money into a car that could be the equivalent of a future "Shelby" or "Saleen" or "Ruf" -- this could be a good bet.  Or maybe you just like something to go with your gold chain?  Find this 1984 Chevrolet Corvette C4 offered for $5500 in Washington Township, NJ via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Ruby Tuesday: 1993 Chevrolet Corvette 40th Anniversary

If you are looking for a sub $15k American car to take and win a trophy at your next car show...don't go out and by a cheap '57 Chevy.  Or a '65 Mustang. Because those things are everywhere and the nice ones are really expensive..but what you should get is a 40th Anniversary Corvette, because this next one is nice enough for a museum, but priced like a depreciated classic. Find this 1993 Chevrolet Corvette 40th Anniversary offered for $14,800 in Houston, TX via craigslist. Tip from Jeff.

5-Speed Classic: 1980 Toyota Celica GT Special Edition

We last featured this exact car when it was offered for....errr...well... $5999...and it is still offered for the same asking price, but that doesn't make it any less appetizing?  It might mean their is some negotiating room in the asking price, or that the car is just being picky about finding the next owner...but it doesn't make it any less interesting to keyboard jockeys like us. Find this 1980 Toyota Celica GT Special Edition offered for $5999 in Oregon City, OR via craigslist.  Tip from FuelTruck.

Whasssssssssssup? 1986 Ford Bronco II Eddie Bauer Edition

Whassssssssssup.  Whazzzzzzzup? WHaaaaaaaazzzzzzzzzzzzzUUUUUUUUUP!!!  If you remember those inane Budweiser whassup commercials from the late 90s/early 2000s...then I'm sorry I had to bring it up, but I've got an important point to make.  Do you also remember those inane Eddie Bauer Edition packages sold on Fords starting in the mid 1980s and ending (mercifully) in 2010...because the whasssssup branding and the Eddie Bauer nonsense were similarly meaningless, but each a marketing triumph by their parent companies.  At the end of the day, we all purchased more Bud and Fords...right?  But in hindsight...what were they thinking? Neither made sense any more at the time than they do now.  Find this 1986 Ford Bronco II Eddie Bauer Edition offered for $12,500 here on eBay buy-it-now located in Macomb, MI with a few hours to go.

Born in Quebec: 2002 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am NHRA Edition

The fourth generation (1993-2002) Pontiac Firebird TransAm was an LS1 powered machine that combined one part GM F-Body chassis with two parts Pontiac "Banshee" styling and 0.5 parts Canadian assembly.  Production ended in 2002, but not before they made a "NHRA" edition that included a 1SH code on the build sheet, a power steering cooler, 3.88 gears, and some badges.  Find this 2002 Pontiac Firebird TransAm NHRA Edition offered for $5900 in San Antonio, TX via craigslist. Tip from Jeff.

Implausible Deniability: 2002 Ford Thunderbird Neiman Marcus Edition

If the universe is indeed as infinitely large as the astrophysicists and heliocentric heretics would have us believe, then Dean Koontz was on to something when he wrote: “In an infinite universe, anything that could be imagined might somewhere exist.” Imagine for a minute that in 2002 when Ford brought out its retro-styled 78th generation Thunderbird that they built a Neiman Marcus limited edition to celebrate third world sweatshops and corporate acquisitions and mergers...or something.  Anyway, find this 2002 Ford Thunderbird Neiman Marcus Edition offered for $18,000 in Sherman Oaks, CA via craigslist. Tip from...I dunno where I found this thing...but I think somebody sent it in...

Epiphany Special: 2003 Volkswagen Golf GTI 20th Anniversary

Today is January 6th, the traditional feast of the Three Kings Day or DT's Epiphany Special.  It is a celebration of when the three wise men visit the new born baby Jesus bringing him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.  Unfortunately, frankincense and myrrh are basically forms of tree sap and gold is way pricey -- so instead we bring gifts of golf, frankenbenz, and myrrhkur.  First of the wise men is Balthasar who comes bearing golf -- this 2003 Volkswagen Golf GTI 20th Anniversary edition here on eBay bidding for $5,100 reserve-not-met with 1 day to go, located in New Fairfield, CT.

10k: Front Engined: 1988 Porsche 924S SE Special Edition

The Porsche 924 was getting old when they introduced the 924S version, but that doesn't mean it isn't a good used car to get today, especially when you consider how cheap you can find a low production version like the SE (Special Edition).  It also benefits from all the learning of the years of 924 production and ends up being best of the breed (short of the extremely limited production 924 Carrera GT).  Find this 1988 Porsche 924S Special Edition offered for $10,000 in Alameda, CA via craigslist.  Tip from Kaibeezy.

5k: Greater Cleveland Special Edition: 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass S Coupe GCSX

Out of all the strange special editions that automobile manufacturers have released, I can find nothing more perplexing than the Greater Cleveland Special Edition of the fourth generation Cutlass from Oldsmobile.  What Cleveland has to do with Oldsmobile is totally lost on me, but apparently Oldsmobile had a regional option package Y76 that added specific badging for each region and included gems like GMO (Galliant Men of Olds -- Chicago), LION (Long Island Olds Network), and the previously highlighted GCSX.  Find this 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass S Coupe GCSX currently bidding for $1,810 reserve-not-met with $7,500 buy-it-now with 5 days to go, located in Madison, GA.

10k: Invasion of the G-Body Snatchers: 2005 Buick Park Avenue Ultra SE

The Buick Park Avenue was the last of the G-platform cars to leave the GM production lines as the era of GM's big-V6 front-drive luxury sedan dominance came to an end.  The general's dominance of front-drive barges started as far back as the 1960s with the legendary Cadillac El Dorado, but in the early 2000s it plowed the competition with understeering fleets composed of the Buick Riviera, Lesabre Park Avenue, Oldsmobile Aurora, Pontiac Bonneville, and Cadillac Seville & DeVille.  Truth be told, 99% of the buyers did not care about drag slip times and simply wanted to spend 40-large on a vehicle to get them from the bingo hall to the 99 cent store on a weekly basis.  Find this 2005 Buick Park Avenue Ultra SE for sale in Birmingham, AL offered for $7,995 via craigslist.
