A What Hawk? 1994 Pontiac Firehawk

This next car had me thinking to myself; "what in the blazes is a Firehawk?"  Yeah, there is no shame in googling some obscure car, particularly when it isn't a factory built machine, but is something modified by SLP Engineering outta Troy, Michigan that was available as a dealer option.  The Firehawk added 17-inch wheels, unique suspension, and a custom ram air hoodscoop for 315 horsepower. Find this 1994 Pontiac Firehawk offered for $8,600 in Kennett Square, PA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Last of the Early Birds: 1993 Pontiac Firebird

Most of the Firebirds you'll find littering the pages of this website are the older "Rockford Files" bird, or the cheap Knight Rider generation birds, but this next car comes from 1993, which was the fourth and final generation of the legendary thunderchicken. Find this 1993 Pontiac Firebird offered for $3000 in Snohomish, WA via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Thunderchicken Apocalypse: 1978 Pontiac Firebird

It has been a few years (2010 to be precise) since the Firebird marque (along with the entire Pontiac lineup) was tossed away like a used Volkswagen coil pack.  Pontiac enthusiasts and 80s detective show enthusiasts alike will gravitate toward the Rockford era Firebird Forumla...and that isn't a bad thing at all because the Thunderchicken is the greatest thing to ever be on the hood of an automobile. Find this 1978 Pontiac Firebird here on eBay offered for $9,999 in Athens, TN.

Born in Quebec: 2002 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am NHRA Edition

The fourth generation (1993-2002) Pontiac Firebird TransAm was an LS1 powered machine that combined one part GM F-Body chassis with two parts Pontiac "Banshee" styling and 0.5 parts Canadian assembly.  Production ended in 2002, but not before they made a "NHRA" edition that included a 1SH code on the build sheet, a power steering cooler, 3.88 gears, and some badges.  Find this 2002 Pontiac Firebird TransAm NHRA Edition offered for $5900 in San Antonio, TX via craigslist. No Title, No Problem: 1995 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Convertible

This next car comes as a tip from Art C who writes: Some seriously cheap fun here. 275 hp, 6 speed, posi... strip it and turn it into an auto x toy??  Art is onto something here because this thing should be fun and the missing title shouldn't scare away the guy who wants to race this thing in the 24 Hrs of LeMons. Find this 1995 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Convertible offered for $1700 in Derry, NH via craigslist.

5908 Miles: 1994 Pontiac Firebird Firehawk

This next car comes as a tip from tipper Jeff G who writes:  Always had a soft spot for these cars. Cleaner lines than the WS6 package with the Batmobile bodywork and the wheel package still looks tough after all these years.  Find this 1994 Pontiac Firebird Firehawk offered for $24,995 in Ft Myers, FL via autotrader.com.

For the Birds? 1968 Pontiac Firebird

The next car comes from Erik202 who writes: I saw this on my local classifieds, it got me thinking about how often people make fairly unsubstantiated claims about the rarity of the cars they are selling. In this ad the seller makes 2 claims but does not mention any paperwork from GM backing up either. There must be tons of this type of ad out there. Find this 1968 Pontiac Firebird Convertible offered for $11,000 CAD ($8,786 USD) via Kijiji.ca.

Sport Beans: 1980 Pontiac Firebird TransAm LS Swap

Marketing is the art of making something appear to be what it is not.  Let's take Sport Beans, for example. They are not sporty, or even beans -- in fact they are jelly beans from the makers of Jelly Bellys, and they are no more appropriate for an athlete to consume than a diabetic...but that doesn't stop them from selling versions that contain caffeine & vitamins -- all shipped in a pouch that says "Gluten Free" and "Made in USA." What this next car needs is some marketing...because a little lipstick would go a long way on this pig.  Find this 1980 Pontiac Firebird TransAm LS Swap offered for $5,900 in Irving, TX via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

I can't be sure if I've been given the gift of telling the future...but if there was ever a late model Pontiac that might transcend the plastic body cladding and become a collectible classic...this is it. Find this 2000 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6 offered here on eBay for $14,995 or best offer, located in Austin, TX.

2006 Lamborghini Murcielago Replica Project

An oft repeated story is that the tractor manufacturer Lamborghini started building fast exotics because Enzo Ferrari would not build a special car for Mr. Ferruccio Lamborghini. People do the strangest things when motivated to succeed. Perhaps the builder of this next thing wanted a Lamborghini, but didn't want to pay the crazy premium for a modern exotic or perhaps he wanted to besmirch the good name of Lamborghini...either way, this thing makes a statement.  Find this  2006 Lamborghini Murcielago Replica Project offered for $12,000 near Atlanta, GA via craigslist. Tip from Richard.

Strip 'n' Show: 1979 Pontiac Formula Firebird

It has been a few years since the Firebird marque (along with the entire Pontiac lineup) was tossed away like a pair of racing striped BVDs.  Pontiac enthusiasts and 80s detective show enthusiasts alike will gravitate toward the Rockford era Firebird Forumla...and that isn't a bad thing at all.  Find this 1979 Pontiac Firebird Formula offered for $4,000 in Pittsburgh, PA via craigslist.  Tip from Rock On!

Screaming Chicken: 1980 Pontiac Trans-Am Turbo Pace Car

Since 1911, pace cars have been a staple of the infamous brickyard in Indianapolis.  Almost every brand has been represented, and many models re-occur over the years.  Mention "Pace Car" in general conversation and inevitability talk will turn to Corvettes and Firebirds as some of the most recognized and memorable models.  Find this 1980 Pontiac Trans-Am Turbo Pace Car for sale in Birmingham, AL for $12,000 via craigslist.

Don't Hassel the Hoff: 1989 Pontiac Firebird Knight Rider Clone

The television show Knight Rider ran from 1982 to 1986.  The show was a huge hit and catapulted David Hasselhoff's then young acting career to stardom. The new for 1982 third generation Trans Am also got a big boost publicity boost serving as the main co-star on the show.  The car's name was KITT or Knight Industries Two Thousand.  Find this 1989 Pontiac Firebird for sale in New Milford, CT for $12,500 via craigslist.

Modern Powertrained: 1988 Pontiac Firebird Formula

The third generation Pontiac Firebird (1982-1992) might not have the cool looks of the earlier 1st (1967-1969) or 2nd gen (1970-1981) but it was certainly a better assembled and constructed automobile, and it wasn't as strangely styled as the 4th generation that replaced it.  There is also the Knight Rider connection, which can be a good or bad thing depending on which way your hassel hoffs.  Find this  1988 Pontiac Firebird Formula with 6.0 LQ4 V8 offered for $7,200 in Perryville, MO.

Won't Be Reborn: 2002 Pontiac Firebird TransAm WS6

Production of Pontiac's Firebird ended in 2002 when the F-body was finally put to pasture and replaced by the Zeta chassis Camaro a few years later.  Unfortunately, the carpocalypse claimed the Pontiac marque, which means we won't see a Firebird TransAm version of the current Camaro.  A pity, because the Firebird was always cooler than the Camaro.  Find this 2002 Pontiac Firebird TransAm WS6 offered for $16,995 from a dealer in Westfield, IN.  Tip from Jeff G.
