DT Does The LA Auto Show 2017

Another year, another awesome LA Auto Show, where faceless OEMs attempt to persuade the motoring press (and the motoring public) to plunk down hard cash their latest offering.  But, let me tell you something...I will drink your fabulous mocha-chino, but I won't spend $600/month on an all inclusive subscription plan...but I'm thinking about it because it is 2am and I can't sleep.

DT Gets Rad @RadWood2

This Saturday morning, we'll be firing up our DTM5 E34 project car and heading down to RadWood2, the show for '80s and '90s enthusiast machines at the Phoenix Club in Anaheim, CA. If Jalopnik's coverage of the inaugural RadWood in the Bay Area is any indication, this show is gonna be...rad.

Feel like you just can't wear enough hairspray on the weekend anymore? Looking for a chance to dust off that denim jacket and your best pair of jorts? Want to ogle a big variety of awesome and DT-worthy depreciated rides? Then this show might be a decent way to waste a Saturday.

Luftgekühlt 3: Living The Air-Cooled Life

My own fascination with aircooled Porsches dates back a few years. I don't have one of those stories about a grandfather/uncle/neighbor owning one, but I do recall a time when ordinary folks used them for ordinary commutes.  I had a summer job (between years of college) working at a Porsche repair/restoration shop down in San Diego and learned a few things that I won't forget -- the first is that un-grounded sand blasting nozzles create an incredible shock when the potential exceeds the insulating capability of rubber gloves, next is that there is an art to cleaning the floor with a mop & a spray bottle of Simple Green, and finally that the 911, 912, 356, & 914 exude an unquantifiable quality that makes them special.  This last Sunday I was able to relive some of that feeling at the Luftgekühlt event at Modernica.

Come Join DT This Weekend at Coffee & Cars with Pelican Parts

Nothing better to do this Saturday morning than gawk at other people's cars? Yeah, us neither. That's why we'll be heading down to the 2nd-ever Coffee & Cars with Pelican Parts, a low-stress gathering of SoCal's finest Euro Trash. Come join us, have a brew (of the hot caffeinated morning variety), let us gawk at your cars, and you can make fun of ours.

Car Shows: Swede Fest, Redondo Beach, CA Saturday June 1, 2013

SoCal Volvo Sports America is hosting their annual Swede Fest gathering of shiny or shabby Swedish cars of all vintages this Saturday in Redondo Beach near the finish line for the Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash....actually just down the street at Ruby's diner.  Swede Fest is a free event...so naturally we will bring the DTPC down to the beach for some exercise and hope that perhaps someone will have a functioning MAF for sale.  If you are going to be at the event come by and say hi, I'm the guy in the rough running Volvo...with DT stickers on it.

Car Show Report: 2013 First Annual Carroll Shelby Tribute and Car Show Gardena, CA

Anyone remotely familiar with automobiles will know the name, man & legend that is Carroll Shelby without any fancy introductions.  The world mourned his passing in May of 2012 and the First Annual Carroll Shelby Tribute and Car Show was put on by the LASAAC and the Carroll Shelby Foundation on May 11th, 2013.  We don't need alternative reasons to wander through rows of vintage Shelby machines, but the donation to kids disease research and automotive education scholarships through CSF is certainly a bonus.

Edelbrock Rev'ved Up 4 Kids Car Show 2013

On the first weekend in May, gear heads around the South Bay Los Angeles flock to the annual Rev'ved Up 4 Kids Car Show, located in front of the Edelbrock Factory in Torrance, CA.  Last weekend the Daily Turismo sent a contingent of staff reporters to sample the vintage cars, gourmet food, live music and kids games/fun.
