Few cars elicit the same degree of guffawed snickers as a French built car sold in AMC dealers with the Spanish name for fire. Yeah. The one car that is more Rodney Dangerfield than even Pontiac's Fiero...the Renault Fuego. It is a car that was loved by a few, misunderstood by many, and is all but extinct today...so forget the whales, we need to band together and save the Fuegos. Find this 1984 Renault Fuego offered for $3975 in New Albany, OH via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Save The Fuegos: 1984 Renault Fuego

Bronze Age: 1981 AMC Eagle Kammback DL-50
The AMC Eagle was a neat looking 4X4 compact crossover-car thing that beat the modern market to the compact crossover and defined traditional labeling of the time. The sedan/wagon/coupe versions were built on the AMC Concord chassis, but the 2-door SX/4, Kammback, & Sundancer models were built on the AMC Spirit subcompact chassis...but the important part is that they were powered by big inline-6s and could offroad like a Jeep. Today's next feature is a solid gold oldie in more ways than one. Find this 1981 AMC Eagle Kammback DL-50 here on eBay bidding for $4900 with one day to go, located in Benson, AZ.Tuesday, February 4, 2020
Mocha Dick: 1969 AMC Rebel Wagon
Every day, I drive down the roads in suburban SoCal, and lament the takeover of ugly crossovers and sport futility vehicles. I get the usability of the modern small SUV...I really do...but when did needless vertical height become a cure-all for ugly tail lights? And why can't we have wagons? When did V8 powered rear-drive wagons become not a thing that new car shoppers want? Am I the only one who would rather drive something ancient to avoid introducing yet another turd shaped blight on the automotive landscape? Get off the lawn...that's where I park my boat! Find this 1969 AMC Rebel Wagon offered for $6000 in Lexington, KY via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.Monday, January 13, 2020
Strange Survivor: 1973 AMC Hornet

The asking price might be a smidgen high for this next car..but then how often do you find surviving cars from the early 70s with a stock single barrel carb. Most of those cars have long since been crushed and the 4bbl equipped versions are placed on pedestals and at the top of the next Barrett-Jackson auto auction. But this thing is the nicest example of a basic AMC Hornet that you'll find...still not sure if it is worth the asking price. Find this 1973 AMC Hornet offered for $9800 in Lake Elsinore, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!Friday, January 3, 2020
Labor of Love: 1969 AMC Rambler 440 Wagon

This next car comes from tipper JB1025 who writes: Very sanitary, nice AMC little wagon don't see this nice very often. Yup, you sure don't seem them like this...and I suspect this car is a labor of love and not a cheap build. Find this 1969 AMC Rambler 440 Wagon offered for $14000 in Phoenix, AZ via craigslist.Friday, October 25, 2019
French Fried Cheeseburger: 1984 Renault Alliance

If you ask an automotive lovin' kid today what he/she thinks about the Renault Alliance, they'll probably tell you that Carlos Ghosn was framed, but Nissan should run as far away from the French automaker as possible..but if you ask an Monday, October 21, 2019
V8 Swapped: 1971 AMC Gremlin X
The AMC Gremlin was a little subcompact econobox built and sold during the height of the 70s fuel & emissions crisis -- so it has as excuse to be as terrible as something like a Nancy Sinatra karaoke night, dental work without novocaine, or a Ford Mustang II. But this next Gremlin might just have that "X-factor" to make it just odd enough to be cool....and not just because it is a factory X-Package car, but also because it features a modified V8 and a cool yellow paint scheme. Find this 1971 AMC Gremlin X offered for $16,000 in Corona, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!Tuesday, September 24, 2019
AMC-Jeep 4.0 Power: 1979 Jaguar XJ6L

This next car has me scratching my head. And my leg. And my back...oh no, that might be fleas or bedbugs...but I'm still totally and completely and utterly flummoxed by this next car. On the one hand, I hate it when people shove carburated small blocks into classic inline-6 powered Jags, but I don't mind so much when they keep them inline-6 powered...but...an AMC 4.0 liter straight six from a Jeep? Find this 1979 Jaguar XJ6L offered for $4000 in Las Vegas, NV via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!Thursday, September 5, 2019
Big Inline-6 Powered: 1976 AMC Matador

The Matador was a stately styled coupe/sedan/wagon that replaced the Rebel in 1971 as American Motor Corp's (AMC) plus sized muscle coupe. In 1974 the Matador coupe was restyled in a completely different fashion from the sedan and it was cool enough for Francisco Scaramanga (one of Christopher Lee's greatest performances) to use a flying version to escape James Bond in The Man with the Golden Gun. Find this 1976 AMC Matador offered for $7000 in Venice, FL via craigslist. Tip from Dascpcu. Monday, April 8, 2019
That Rebel Yell: 1969 AMC Rebel Wagon

Yes, old wagons are the best. Even better is an old green wagon...an old green American wagon with an old green interior, and with a V8 and an awoooooooga horn. And you are gonna need that awoooooooga horn with 2 tons of steel and manual drum brakes. Find this 1969 AMC Rebel Wagon here on eBay bidding for $6,500 with 3 days to go, located in Lompoc, CA.Friday, January 11, 2019
Have Rust Will Travel: 1983 AMC Eagle 4X4

The AMC Eagle was a neat looking 4X4 compact crossover-car thing that beat the modern market to the compact crossover and defined traditional labeling of the time. The sedan/wagon/coupe versions were built on the AMC Concord chassis, but the 2-door SX/4, Kammback, & Sundancer models were built on the AMC Spirit subcompact chassis...but the important part is that they were powered by big inline-6s and could offroad like a Jeep. Find this 1983 AMC Eagle offered for $3,800 in Loma, CO via hemmings. Tip from BP.Friday, December 14, 2018
TJ Big Six: 2001 Jeep Wrangler Sahara

I looked at this next car and said "wow, that is one well preserved 80s Jeep"...but then I noticed that the model year was a 2001? Wow. The TJ generation Jeep Wrangler was built from 1996 through 2006 on a chassis that was a mildly updated version of the 1986-1995 YJ Wranger that was originally developed by AMC during Renault ownership, which was just a slightly upgraded version of the CJ...you can see where this meandering path down Jeep history is going. Find this 2001 Jeep Wrangler Sahara here on eBay offered for $6950 buy-it-now located in Ozone Park, NY.Friday, December 7, 2018
350 V8 Powered Hot Rod: 1974 AMC Gremlin

Those little gremlins were such cute little things...until you got 'em wet or fed them after midnight. Then the bad stuff started and they transformed into pavement burning death machines that'll rattle your fillings loose on mildly distressed pavement and swap ends faster than you can say A.M.C. Find this 1974 AMC Gremlin offered here on eBay for $8,500 or best-offer located in Palm Springs, CA.Thursday, November 8, 2018
Four Bye Four: 1986 AMC Eagle Wagon

Five hundred smackeroos doesn't get you much in a working vehicle these days...but as evidenced by the last posting, there are cars available for that price and some might even be cool. Find this 1986 AMC Eagle Wagon here on eBay offered for $560 in Westlake, OH with 1 day to go.Friday, November 2, 2018
Big Green: 1972 AMC Matador Wagon

The Matador replaced the Rebel in 1971 as American Motor Corp's plus sized muscle machine. By 1973 the muscle-car era was on its way out and the later cars tended to be softer, slower and are generally less collectable today - but don't rule them out of your classic search as they are also considerably cheaper...and 72 model year cars are still old enough to make some horsepower without ugly rubber bumpers. Find this 1972 AMC Matador Wagon offered for $2950 in Brooklyn Park, MN via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.Tuesday, July 31, 2018
Raised White Letter Tires: 1976 AMC Hornet Sportabout

Tipper Rock On had this to say about DT's newest project car, "Vince’s new wagon is very sporty, but this Hornet is not too shabby." The wagon version of the Hornet was called the Sportabout which proves automakers were allergic to the term wagon even way back then. The Hornet here is about as rocking as it gets for a 70's estate- big 360 engine, Cragar wheels with white letter tires, rally striping, and orangey-red exterior paint. Find this 1976 AMC Hornet for sale in Shreveport, LA for $7,000 via craigslist. Monday, June 4, 2018
Somebody Lifted A Gremlin: 1981 AMC Eagle Kammback

The AMC Eagle was sold in a number of different body styles, but where things get confusing is when you transition from the 4-door sedan/wagon/coupe versions built on the AMC Concord chassis but the 2-door SX/4, Kammback, & Sundancer models were built on the AMC Spirit subcompact chassis. However, there is nothing quite like combining the ungainly ride height of the Eagle with the Concord front end and a Gremlin rear end. Find this 1981 AMC Eagle Kammback offered for $5000 in Edgewood, NM via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.
