The AMC Eagle was a neat looking 4X4 compact crossover-car thing that beat the modern market to the compact crossover and defined traditional labeling of the time. The sedan/wagon/coupe versions were built on the AMC Concord chassis, but the 2-door SX/4, Kammback, & Sundancer models were built on the AMC Spirit subcompact chassis...but the important part is that they were powered by big inline-6s and could offroad like a Jeep. Today's next feature is a solid gold oldie in more ways than one. Find this 1981 AMC Eagle Kammback DL-50 here on eBay bidding for $4900 with one day to go, located in Benson, AZ.

Four Bye Four: 1986 AMC Eagle Wagon

Five hundred smackeroos doesn't get you much in a working vehicle these days...but as evidenced by the last posting, there are cars available for that price and some might even be cool. Find this 1986 AMC Eagle Wagon here on eBay offered for $560 in Westlake, OH with 1 day to go.Monday, June 4, 2018
Somebody Lifted A Gremlin: 1981 AMC Eagle Kammback

The AMC Eagle was sold in a number of different body styles, but where things get confusing is when you transition from the 4-door sedan/wagon/coupe versions built on the AMC Concord chassis but the 2-door SX/4, Kammback, & Sundancer models were built on the AMC Spirit subcompact chassis. However, there is nothing quite like combining the ungainly ride height of the Eagle with the Concord front end and a Gremlin rear end. Find this 1981 AMC Eagle Kammback offered for $5000 in Edgewood, NM via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.Wednesday, May 2, 2018
Dynamite Some Motors: 1991 Eagle Talon TSi AWD
This next car comes from tipper Safety Fast who writes: Haven't had one of these on the site for a while. That sounds like a challenge to me, Mr Fast, if that is indeed your real name. I'll start posting so many DSM classics that you'll think this site should be called Daily Talonismo...but let's start with this 1991 Eagle Talon TSi AWD offered for $6,450 in Chico, CA via craigslist.Friday, June 2, 2017
DSModified: 1990 Eagle Talon TSi AWD

The Eagle Talon was part of the big three from Diamond Star Motors -- the Mitsubishi Eclipse, Eagle Talon, and Plymouth Laser. Why Dodge decided to saddle the little sporty compacts with the Eagle and Plymouth labels is a mystery that will never been solved, but they are undeniably interesting and impossible to find stock. Find this 1990 Eagle Talon TSi AWD offered for $2,850 near Boise, ID via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.Monday, April 17, 2017

Wacky Wagon Thursday? A Concord, Eagle, & Tercel Walk Into A Bar...
This next feature comes with a few words from tipper Matt C...take it away: I hopped on Craigslist today looking for a cool station wagon, and found several that are quite DT-ish:

5-Speeds 4-Bys: 1984 AMC Eagle Sport
The Eagle was AMC's late '70s answer to the OPEC oil embargo and high
gas prices that followed. Sales of traditional pickup trucks and SUVs
were down. AMC needed a way to pad their
bottom line with more sales of profitable 4WD-equipped vehicles -- so they took a chance with a gussied up version of the Concorde (formerly the Hornet, which started production in
1969) equipped with a full-time 4WD system, creating the first
true crossover and "sport utility wagon" before anybody else. Find this 1984 AMC Eagle Sport offered for $2,000 in Pollock Pines, CA via craigslist. Tip from RockOn.Friday, May 13, 2016

Ready For Takeoff: 1982 AMC Eagle SX4

The AMC Eagle was a strange looking 4X4 compact crossover-car thing that defined traditional labeling -- technically the sedan/wagon/coupe versions were built on the AMC Concord chassis, but the 2-door SX/4, Kammback, & Sundancer models were built on the AMC Spirit subcompact chassis. Does this sound confusing to you too? Forget all that, and bask on the sweet rally setup of this 1982 AMC Eagle SX4 offered for $7,000 near Detroit, MI.Wednesday, February 10, 2016
The Beagle Has Landed: 1973 Porsche 914 Eagle GT Kit

Peak Chrysler: 1992 Eagle Summit DL Wagon

In 1988 Chrysler launched a new marque called Eagle -- which was supposed to sink its hooked talons into the soft underbelly of Japanese car sales and tear up the competition. It was sort of a competitor to GM's Pontiac division, in that it was aimed at the "sporty" driver, but also at Saturn in that it was aimed at stemming the catastrophic market share losses to the Japanese. Either way the brand was mostly a collection of badge engineered cars from other Chrysler divisions or captive imports from Mitsubishi...like this next one. Find this 1992 Eagle Summit DL Wagon here on eBaySunday, October 25, 2015
Beware of Gremlin: 1982 AMC Eagle SX/4 Liftback

In 1979 AMC released a compact 4X4 oddball called the Eagle that was one part answer to the OPEC oil embargo and one part sheer insanity. 4X4s were supposed to be these big, short-wheelbase Jeepy things, or trucks, not a small station wagon shaped thing with optional wood siding!! AMC had just inadvertently created the world's first crossover vehicle, a market segment that today dominates half the floor at most auto shows. Find this 1982 AMC Eagle SX/4 offered for $4,000 in Western Massachusetts via craigslist. Tip from Jdah. Monday, August 24, 2015
Hammer Time: 1982 AMC Eagle
There are only a few minutes to go in this auction, and somebody is about to get a fantastic deal on one of the first crossover SUVs (CUV?) put into production many years ago by a little firm out of Kenosha, Wisconsin. Find this 1982 AMC Eagle survivor here on eBayWednesday, May 6, 2015
1982 AMC Eagle Sundancer

The Eagle was AMC's late '70s answer to the OPEC oil embargo and high
gas prices that followed; sales of traditional pickup trucks and SUVs
were down, so they introduced a plus sized car riding on a raised suspension in what can be considered the ancestor to the modern crossover SUV (CUV). A few hundred (200 according to some sources) were turned over to the Griffith Coachworks in Florida, who did what they were paid to do -- and lopped off the top, turning it into a quasi convertible/targa known as the Sunchaser. Find this 1982 AMC Eagle Sundancer offered for $4,800 in Port Huron, MI via craigslist. Seller sub from Gord.Wednesday, March 18, 2015
5k: PRV V6 Power: 1991 Eagle Premier ES
What we have here today is an AMC built sedan packed full of sketchy advanced electronics from 25 years ago that uses a temperamental Audi transmission and a Renault V6 engine, and you should buy it. What is this, Fear Factor? Are you going to fill the car full of roaches and make me drive it in my underwear? It is like a Who's Who of abandoned car components assembled by raving lunatics, but...drive one every day and you'll be part of an exclusive club. Find this 1991 Eagle Premier ES here on eBay
