Two Tone: 1974 Jaguar XJ6 V8

There is an older gentleman who drives a similar commute time to me (well...that was before the coronavirus...now my commute involves putting my temporary desk together in my room and avoiding the wife/kids by pretending on a conference call...but that's a story for another time) anyway, this guy has an XJ6 Coupe that has a particularly jaunty rumble coming out a set of dual pipes..and I suspect it is small block V8 conversion, but I can't be certain...and what this guy needs to do is to add some custom body paint accents and white letter Cooper Radial tires to let us all know that he's driving a muscle Jag. Like this 1974 Jaguar XJ6 V8 offered for $3490 in Sacramento, CA via craigslist.

AMC-Jeep 4.0 Power: 1979 Jaguar XJ6L

This next car has me scratching my head.  And my leg.  And my back...oh no, that might be fleas or bedbugs...but I'm still totally and completely and utterly flummoxed by this next car. On the one hand, I hate it when people shove carburated small blocks into classic inline-6 powered Jags, but I don't mind so much when they keep them inline-6 powered...but...an AMC 4.0 liter straight six from a Jeep? Find this 1979 Jaguar XJ6L offered for $4000 in Las Vegas, NV via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Chevy V8 Power: 1976 Jaguar XJ Series 2

This next car came with a burst of small block enhanced déjà vu.  I swear I've seen this exact same car before...offered for a same price..but it appears the car listed here in 2017 for roughly the same price and condition is NOT the same car but a doppelganger.  So...do the same reasons for featuring that car still apply?  You bet!  The added reliability and reduced cost of the Chebby swap makes me wanna have a V8. Find this 1976 Jaguar XJ Series 2 offered for  $4,500 in Lebanon, OR via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Another Jaguaro: 1987 Jaguar XJ6

The Jaguar XJ wasn't the first car to get swapped with Chevy V8 power en masse (that honor goes to the Ford Model T...I think) but it is the go-to car today for people with an extra boat anchor in the garage.  Find this 1987 Jaguar XJ6 V8 offered for $6,200 in Rock Hill, SC via craigslist.  Tip from Rock On!

Notta Chebby: 1986 Jaguar XJ6

We've been posting a few (toom many?) Chevy small block powered Jags 'round these parts, so I reckon we should post a few stock examples as atonement for our swapping sins.  Find this 1986 Jaguar XJ6 offered for $2900 outside of Boston, MA. Tip from Art C.

Camaro Teal: 1978 Jaguar XJ6 V8 Swap

Who'd have thought that a Camaro Teal would look so good sprayed on the outside of a classic 70s Jaguar sedan?  But there it is, in the flesh, powered by a carburetor fed Chevy small block V8 and offered for a reasonable price.  Find this 1978 Jaguar XJ6 V8 Swap offered for $8,500 in Redmond, WA via craigslist.  Tip from Rock On!

Blocked At Work: 1972 Jaguar XJ6

My 7 year old daughter saw a picture of this next car on my computer screen and asked me a few questions.  What kind of car is that Daddy?  It is a Jaguar...with a Chevy V8.  Oh, why is it on those pieces of wood?  Umm...it is kinda broken.  Ok, so are you going to buy it?  Find this 1972 Jaguar XJ6 offered for $1000 near Los Angeles, CA via craigslist.

IROC 'n' Roll: 1976 Jaguar XJ6 Coupe XJ-C

The XJ Coupe (or XJ-C) was a handsome two door version of Jaguar's Series II XJ saloon (sedan) built from 1975 through 1978.  Over the four years of production, they only sold 9,378 of the coupe version, probably because Jaguar released the modern looking XJ-S in 1976, but the XJ-C was arguably prettier at the last car to feature direct design input from Sir William Lyons himself.  Today's XJ-C might have an American surprise under the hood, but looks like it was done correctly.  Find this 1976 Jaguar XJ6 Coupe XJ-C here on eBay bidding for $8,400 reserve-not-met with $15,500 buy-it-now and 2 days to go, located in Krum, TX.

Jag-U-Ain't: 1984 Jaguar XJ6 Monster Truck

The USA has always been advertised as a kind of melting pot, where folks with different ideas, ideals, and chest hair can all get along together.  It might even be possible that rednecks and redcoats could work together on a custom car...and the end result might not be that bad.  So, if your idea of an afternoon snack consists of brewing a pot of Earl Grey tea, and then dipping baby back ribs into your fine china tea cup...this next ride might be for you.  Find this 1984 Jaguar XJ6 Monster Truck offered for $3,500 in Spokane, WA via craigslist.  Tip from SeanT.

El Caguar: 1989 Jaguar XJ6 Pickup

Update 28-Aug-2015: The Jaguar XJ6 sedan is a supreme highway car with ample supply of passing torque(s) from its silky smooth inline six, a calming aura of sophistication emanates from its finely chisel features -- and the only thing that would make it better is a pickup bed in the back.  Find this 1989 Jaguar XJ6 Pickup still for sale, but now discounted to $9,500 in Seattle, WA. Tip from Dave.

Survived: 1976 Jaguar XJ6 Coupe

There is a fine line between a survivor car and one that has somehow managed to survive...so far.  This next car might blur that line a bit and has survived because it is rare/desireable, but...will the next owner be forced to restore it?  Find this 1976 Jaguar XJ6 Coupe offered for $4,500 in Norco, CA.  Tip from FuelTruck.

5k: CA Bar'd 350 TPI: 1984 Jaguar XJ6 V8 Swap

You might look at this next feature and say "oh great, another classic Jaguar ruined by some butcher's knife and a small block Chevy" -- and I might agree. However, if you take a look at this next feature, it might just have enough polish to be worth a second look.  Find this 1984 Jaguar XJ6 V8 Swap with CA smog legal Corvette V8 here on eBay currently bidding for $5,000 reserve-not-met, located in Fresno, CA.

5k: British Racing Green Bean: 1973 Jaguar XJ6

The Jaguar XJ6 is one of the legendary sports luxury sedan of the '70s that every man (or woman) who considers himself a motorhead should own some day.  The highway manners were particularly noteworthy, close your eyes and you could hardly tell you were moving -- something that couldn't be said for many of the domestic offerings of the day, While offered in Europe with a wide range of lesser (smaller displacement) engines, the US version was given the the venerable 4.2 litre inline-6, an engine that is not without its charm...but...is frequently tossed aside for something from the General.  Find this 1973 JAGUAR XJ6 with Chevy V8 offered here on craigslist for $4750 located near San Luis Obispo, CA.
