10k Flash: Buy Stock in Silver: 1991 BMW E34 M5

Every once in a while we will put down the keyboards after a few paragraphs and leave the verbosity 'till next time; whether it's intentional or out of necessity. Unfortunately this DT Flash posting is in the latter category because there is only one picture included in the ad. But hey, what a nice picture. If you're looking for a semi-rare, well built, fast and unique 4-door sedan then we have to recommend looking at a BMW M5 of the E34 generation. The E28 was the Ur-M5 and may be more of a driver's car, but the E34 is a more modern, more powerful 'bahnstormer that is currently at the bottom of its depreciation curve. I recommend buying stock in the ultimate E34 (silver in this case) and considering an investment in this sharp and well maintained 1991 BMW M5 here on craigslist in San Mateo, CA for $9788.

10k Flash: Unspecified Alpina: 1997 BMW E36 Touring

The BMW E36 is one of the DT Staff's collective favorite cheap German rear drive cars because it handles amazingly, is cheap, takes well to modifications, is incredibly well balanced, came in a wide variety of configurations and, well...it's cheap! Today's E36 is a bit higher priced than most you'll find these days but for two good reasons: 1) it's an Alpina massaged example and 2) it's a "Touring" wagon. There were four different levels of Alpina E36, but only two available in 1997 and although the seller claims it's an M3 (it isn't), we are likely looking at a B3 3.2. We will rule out the B8 4.6 because it had a V8, which the seller wouldn't likely overlook. The B3 3.2 was an inline-six powered Bahnstormer that developed 265 hp from a 3.2 liter engine and could do 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.0 seconds. Not super fast, but no slouch either. Find this 1997 Alpina 3.2 Touring in Calgary, Alberta, Canada for $11.9k CDN via kijijijiji. Thanks to "Gerrypmw" for the tip.

5k Flash: DTPC's Twin: 1983 Volvo 242

Time for a double-242 Thorsday, this one being an extremely minty fresh 1983 model. It happens to be a twin to our Daily Turismo Project Car, in specification, model year, and options. Compared to the 1982 blue car just featured this one seems to be mostly original or refreshed, but not restored. 152k miles means it's got at least 50% of its usable life left in it. Find it here on ebay in Portland, Oregon with bidding at $5k, reserve met, and only a few hours to go. The white beauty is being sold by R-Sport International, a respected Volvo builder and custom parts manufacturer. We were going to post this one anyways but Scot beat us to it with a link in the last feature!

5k Flash: Trailer Queen: 1974 Dodge D-100 Pickup

It isn't often that you see pickup trucks being towed around on trailers, but this 1974 Dodge D-100 Pickup is being offered for sale in Harrisburg, IL for $7,000 as a 46k miles documented time capsule.  The seller claims that its original 225 cubic inch slant-6 and automatic transmission are in near mint condition and while we scratch our heads at the idea of a low option 'collector' pickup...we are certain others will say "hey - that's cool".  Tip from the original DT tipster, Scot.

3k: Only A Jackass Would Pass On This: M-274 Mule

The M274 Mule is an all-purpose 4WD off-road truck/quad/tractor that can carry up to 1/2 ton of equipment and drive just about anywhere.  Most aren't street legal as they are essentially a military flat-bed quad, but we could imagine one titled as a kit-car or some other creative method to get plates on it. Mules were used at workhorses in the military fleet from the 1950s-1980s and later replaced by the John Deere Gator.  Today M247s are sought by collectors for their unique style and general mayhem potential.  Find this bargain M274 Mule for sale in Albuquerque, NM for $2800 via craigslist.  Thanks to tip from Paul M.

10k Flash: Super Nice Original 1970 Ford F-250 Ranger XLT Camper Special

For our last Weekly Haulrismo feature we looked at a 1970 Ford pickup, of the F-100 Ranger 4WD variety. That truck sold for a very strong $13.7k on ebay, which frankly surprised us and got us looking for a better deal on a similar vintage truck. Well, we found a real gem - another 1970 Ford, as it turns out, but this one is an F-250 (heavier duty hauling / towing rating). It is a 2WD truck, which is honestly all most people will ever need in a vintage Haulrismo. The bonus here is its originality and lower buy-in - the paint is claimed to be original in its awesome tri-tone color scheme, and the seller says it's only rolled 118k miles in its 42 years. Find this minty show-quality survivor for sale here on craigslist in San Diego, CA, for $10k asking price.

5k Flash: 1988 BMW M5 - Unrestored Daily Driver

We at the Daily Tursimo have not hidden our love of depreciated BMW M-cars, particularly the brutal M5 sedans and our favorite is still the E28.  Its easy to like the E28 because its an honest car - it doesn't try to confound the driver with electronic wizardy like traction control or electronically controlled dampers or an M button on the steering wheel that gives an additional 100 horsepower.  We also like the seller of this 1988 BMW M5 for his brutal honesty and you can find the car offered via bimmerforums.com in Richmond, VA for $5,900.  (Big thanks to tip from e28 fanatic Kaibeezy)

The 1st generation Toyota Corona MkII was based on the Corona, but was slightly larger model slotted to fit price-wise between Corona and Crown.  We are big fans of Coronas, MkIIs and Crowns today because they are dirt cheap and easy to maintain.  This 1971 Toyota Crown Mark II wagon is available for sale in Tujunga, CA for $2000 via craigslist.

10k Flash: 1964 Buick Skylark Sportwagon Restomod

The third generation Buick Skylark, 1964-1972 was based on GM's intermediate sized chassis and shared parts with the Olds F-85, Pontiac Tempest and Chevy Chevelle.  It was a large car by todays standards and was available as a convertible, coupe, hardtop, sedan and wagon.  Power came from a variety of inline 6 and V8 options, but non as sweet as the Buick 455 V8.  This 1964 Buick Skylark Sportwagon with VistaRoof has been through a major restoration and modification and is for sale in San Diego, CA via ebay, currently bidding at $6,001 reserve-not-met.

10k Flash: 2004 BMW 330i ZHP 6-spd

BMW's E46 generation 3 series was sold from 1999 to 2005 and if you wanted the hot M3 version it was only available in 2 door trim.  Folks with little kids or the desire for a sedan had to settle for a regular 3-series, at least until the ZHP came out in 2004.  The ZHP added a 6 speed manual trans, engine tuning, suspension work and some M-sport badges to the 3 series sedan at a price considerably less than the M3.  This 2004 BMW 330i ZHP 6-spd sedan is for sale on ebay currently bidding for $6,600 reserve-not-met with a buy it now of $10,900.

Cosmetically it is hard to tell a ZHP from the standard 330i, but it does have a standard M-tech II body kit and 18 inch staggered width type 135 wheels.

15k Flash: 1994 Mercedes SL600 V12 R129 low miles

Car enthusiasts nuts have all kinds of lists, ones that they fill with requirements for cars that they must own before they die.  Surely a good list would include, an Alfa Romeo, a track car, a new car, something with a GM LS V8 shoehorned where it doesn't belong, and a V12. Today we aren't going help with the earlier parts of the list, only the V12.  This 1994 Mercedes SL600 R129 chassis is equipped with a 6 liter V12, has a shockingly low 57k miles and is sale for a premium $14k via craigslist in Toccoa, GA.

The R129 Chassis is one of the last of the reliable era Mercedes and was the choice for filthy rich balding men 20 years ago.  It is only available with an automatic transmission, but its sleek styling and big V12 make it a great weekend cruiser.

10k Flash: 1997 Mazda RX-7 FD w/ LS1 Swap

 The Mazda RX-7 was in its 3rd generation in 1992 when the FD was released- with curvy Japanese styling, a front mid-ships layout and a turbocharged Wankel rotary engine.  It was a fantastic combination, except for the horrible reliability of a rotary multiplied by the abysmal record of a 90's turbocharger..and basically every FD RX-7 you will find with more than 70k miles has had a new engine or two.  Many today have been replaced with simple, reliable and lightweight Chevy LS series small block V8s.  This 1993 Mazda RX-7 with Chevy LS1 engine is for sale in San Jose, CA currently bidding on ebay for $8,100 reserve-not-met.

This RX-7 is still wearing its factory Blaze Red paint job and looks decent in the photos.  90s era Mazda's were not known for great paint quality, so a thorough check for signs of peeling clearcoat is important - especially check roof, hood and trunk lid.  

10k DT Flash: 1966 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sedan 1300TI

The Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan was manufactured from 1962-1972, available with a 1.3 or 1.6 liter gasoline engine and the desirable TI trim (TI stands for Turismo Internazionale - a reference to Alfa's racing pedigree). This minty clean 1966 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300 TI is for sale on ebay in Tarzana, CA currently bidding at $9,500 with 1 day to go.

This Giulia (pronounced with a soft "g" - Joo- lee- A) looks to be in fantastic cosmetic shape and is distinctive in its appearance - no one will mistake this Alfa for a Japanese or American car from the 60s.
