This next car comes as a tip from Rock On! who calls it: The official station wagon of Daily Turismo!  Yes, the OG Buick Sportwagon is most certainly the official station wagon of Daily Turismo -- partially because they fit the bill of being affordable, rare, cool, eccentric, and radical...but also because I've got a green one sitting in my garage.  Also, the seller of this vehicle seems like a cool old dude who would be fun to have a drink with. Good Idea: 1966 Buick SportWagon

As a fellow fan (and owner) of home made junk and the Buick SportWagon, I have to admit that I am intrigued by this next car.  The concept of a shift-it-yourself Buick Sportwagon with some Wildcat GrandSport style grill is cool...but the DIY interior and manual single piston drum brakes hold this thing back...well..those brakes won't hold much back...but you get my drift.  With some TLC this could be a winner. Find this 1966 Buick SportWagon offered for $8500 Langhorne, PA via craigslist. Tip from ME.

Cool Ride...Upgrades Needed: 1964 Buick SportWagon

This next car is something close to my heart...and I'm genuinely curious to see how much it gets when the gavel hits the block, because it isn't too far from the '65 SportWagon that I've got sitting in my garage. Unfortunately, this one has the lower spec Wildcat 310 V8 (instead of the upgraded 4bb Wildcat 355) and it has non boosted single circuit drum brakes (yikes!!) and no AC or power steering...but it does have what appears to be a nice coat of light blue paint and the interior isn't bombed out.  For someone who doesn't mind adding a few safety upgrades (power boosted dual-circuit brake upgrade kits are cheap and easy to install...just some time needed) it could be a great weekend cruiser.  And swap those wheels/tires too! Find this 1964 Buick SportWagon here on eBay bidding for $6,600 with a few hours to go, located in Eden Prairie, MN with a few hours to go.

Another Day, Another Project Car: Introducing The DT SportWagon

We've had a few project cars featured on DT over the years, including in no particular order, a sweet Volvo 242 that is way better off in the hands of its new owner, der Schmetterling, zee Draken, an E34 M5, a Roadmaster wagon that is passed around DT staff like a case of the clap at Woodstock, and a C36 AMG that has gotten more love/attention than any C36 in the history of AMG benzes. What is next?  Well..lemme tell ya. Another DT internal B2B (bro-to-bro) transaction was transacted the other day, when Hunsbloger passed this 1965 Buick SportWagon over to yours truly, DT Editor-in-Chief Vince for a small wad of cash.

Modified Classic: 1965 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser

It might not be the preferred Buick Sportwagon version, but this A-Body Vista Cruiser has the awesome skylight windows and all of the classic style you'll ever need for a weekend family classic. 10k: Sport Jacket or Bow-Tie: 1965 Buick Sportwagon vs 1965 Chevy Chevelle Malibu Wagon

When friends feed your weakness you don’t know whether to thank them or smack them. In this case, thanks to tipper Oldsmobuick for feeding my insatiable wagon jones with his tips on this 1965 Buick Sportwagon which he found on craigslist in Stanwood WA for $8800, and this 1965 Chevelle Malibu Wagon which he found on craigslist in Portland for $11,000. While there is a lot to like about both of these cars, my gut reaction is that the seller of the Buick has supplied way too few pictures to support his asking price of $8,800 and for all the information supplied by the seller of the Chevy, this original appearing car is actually a very mild restomod which may actually hurt his pricing.

DT Musings: Rambling Thoughts on Sportswagon & Vista Cruiser

DT's resident wagon expert, Buick-nut, paint-snob and grandpa (while technically not a grandpa as far as he is aware, his hair has been fully gray for decades) Hunsbloger started a long dialogue about SportsWagons, Vista Cruisers and the general state of 60's wagons today.  It was too good of a conversation to just send to our trash-bin, so we've saved it and posted it up here (-Ed's note)

I am a HUGE fan of these Vista Roof cruisers and EBAY is flush with them today!  In addition to the one above, there are two others joining in to represent the full spectrum of the first generation of Sportwagon/Vista Cruisers.  They also represent,  three different situations which present challenges when trying to figure out which car is the right one for you on Ebay.

 Regarding the big vista glass windows letting in too much light...No worries about the sun in the back seats of the Vista Roof Wagons from Buick or Olds, they have oversized Sun Visors which do a great job of blocking the sun when the kids in the back need a nap! (seen in the picture below)

10k Flash: 1964 Buick Skylark Sportwagon Restomod

The third generation Buick Skylark, 1964-1972 was based on GM's intermediate sized chassis and shared parts with the Olds F-85, Pontiac Tempest and Chevy Chevelle.  It was a large car by todays standards and was available as a convertible, coupe, hardtop, sedan and wagon.  Power came from a variety of inline 6 and V8 options, but non as sweet as the Buick 455 V8.  This 1964 Buick Skylark Sportwagon with VistaRoof has been through a major restoration and modification and is for sale in San Diego, CA via ebay, currently bidding at $6,001 reserve-not-met.
