Grand National Turbo V6 Powered: 1981 Chevrolet Malibu

This next car comes as a tip from Jeff G who writes: I know the price is a bit high for DT, but this one is interesting. An early 80's Malibu aint the first platform that comes to mind when thinking about what should be deserving of Grand National awesomeness, BUT he did do a pretty sweet job with the look & feel of the car + the Yenko thing was a nice touch. Like it or not, it's unique and the likelihood of seeing anything like this pull up next to you on the road is about as likely as any of the DT regulars getting their ride hand waxed by a nekkid Adriana Lima. Find this 1981 Chevrolet Malibu offered for $24,000 in Jacksonville, FL via craigslist.

Don't Call Me Chevelle- 1978 Chevy Malibu Classic

The new for 1978 Malibu took the Chevelle's place in the Chevy line up.  The A-body Malibu went through similar downsizing and weight loss program that the Impala went through.  It would not be a stretch to think of the square jawed Malibu as the American Volvo 240.  Today's Malibu is particularly noteworthy because it has a measly 22,000 miles on the odometer.  It is pretty shocking to find a forty year old non collector car in this mint of condition.  Find this 1978 Chevy Malibu Classic for sale in Albany, NY for $3,495 via craigslist.

Super Sport Style: 1973 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Wagon

The SS badge on the side of a Chevelle meant it had a powerful V8 and the ability to go toe-to-toe with any other huge domestic sedan from the same era...but they only built the SS wagon in 72/73, so if you want one without spending a bunch of cash, you'll have to make your own, like this next guy.  Find this 1973 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Wagon here on eBay bidding for $4,950 reserve-not-met with $16,500 buy-it-now located in Alpharetta, GA.

4-Spd V8 Predator: 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu

In just a few flicks of Sidney Crosby's curved stick, millions of Nashville Predator fans went from trying to figure out how many catfish they could shove into a set of adult diapers to doing the things they normally do.  To help out our heartbroken friends in Nashville, I've picked the best car I could find on the local craigslist and it is a doozy.  Find this 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu offered for $12,950 in Nashville, TN via craigslist.

Turbocharged 5.3 V8: 1980 Chevrolet Malibu

The term sleeper gets tossed around automotive circles so much that the average car guy is going to assume that the ugly car is faster than the nice one.  So, how do you build a sleeper when everybody expects the ratty cars to be fast?  Easy -- you build a car that looks like a show'er, but is actually a go'er.  Find this 1980 Chevy Malibu with turbo 5.3 V8 offered for $12,800 in Reseda, CA via craigslist. Tip from Mike.

15k: Time Capsule: 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Wagon

The first generation Chevrolet Chevelle was based on GM's A-body platform and the wagon version is one of my favorites from the A-body.  The Chevelle Malibu wagon lacks the crazy vista-roof that is available in the Buick Sportwagon version, but in my book, clean styling trumps questionable additions that leak when it rains and sunburns your kids when it is sunny.  Find this 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Wagon here on eBay currently bidding for $17,100 reserve-not-met with 1 day to go located in New Jersey.

10k: Sport Jacket or Bow-Tie: 1965 Buick Sportwagon vs 1965 Chevy Chevelle Malibu Wagon

When friends feed your weakness you don’t know whether to thank them or smack them. In this case, thanks to tipper Oldsmobuick for feeding my insatiable wagon jones with his tips on this 1965 Buick Sportwagon which he found on craigslist in Stanwood WA for $8800, and this 1965 Chevelle Malibu Wagon which he found on craigslist in Portland for $11,000. While there is a lot to like about both of these cars, my gut reaction is that the seller of the Buick has supplied way too few pictures to support his asking price of $8,800 and for all the information supplied by the seller of the Chevy, this original appearing car is actually a very mild restomod which may actually hurt his pricing.

15k: Madibu Cow Disease: 1982 Chevrolet Malibu Wagon with LY6 V8 Swap

The Chevy Malibu was a forgettable midsized sedan from the 80s and not worth a second glance...unless someone has shoved a modern fuel injected V8 under the hood, painted the bumpers body colored, tinted the windows and bolted on a set of Torque Thrust style wheels.  Today's feature has been transformed from Maliboring to Malibadass.  Find this 1982 Chevy Malibu Wagon with LY6 V8 swap for $13,200 in the middle of Missouri via craigslist.
