This next car comes as a tip from Matt C who writes: If I needed to say something nice about it, I'd say that it succeeds much better than attempting to make a 1957 Chevy out of a 2002 Camaro. And it is probably considerably more exciting to drive then when (a small portion of) it rolled off the line in 1991. Find this 19XX hot rod offered for $8000 in Wilmot, WI via craigslist.

A 1939 Chevy rebodied with a... 1991 Geo Metro?!?

Lord Vader's Chariot: 1978 Chevrolet Impala Aerocoupe

Personal two door coupes sold by the truck loads in the 60's-70's-80's, but are hardly produced any longer in 2018. Today's Impala coupe has been given a Grand National style black out treatment and the results look almost vintage AMG like by my eye. Under the hood features a Chevy LS swap that should motivate the car much more than the stock engine. The unique three sided rear glass is not likely something you would want to find a replacement for at this point in time. Find this 1978 Chevy Impala for sale in Fernandina Beach, FL for $9,000 via craigslist. Friday, June 22, 2018
Procharger Puffer: 1978 Chevrolet Corvette

One of the biggest knocks on the Disco era Corvette's is the lack of power from the strangled 350 V8 engines. In 1978 for the 25th anniversary, you could get a 220hp option which was a nice upgrade over the base 185hp. The biggest exterior change for 1978 was a new fastback design and the removal of the rear flying buttress sail panels. Today's car really turns up the wick in the power department with an addition of a Procharger on a 383 stroker engine to the a claimed 580 hp. The stock three speed automatic has been swapped in favor of the later 700R4 overdrive unit. Find this 1978 Chevrolet Corvette for sale in Newfield, NJ for $18,500 via craigslist. Late To The Game: 1965 GMC Pickup

DT E-i-C Vince: Sorry about the lack of posts today, I had unexpected internet connectivity issues at the DT headquarters (I should probably consider paying my bills...) all day and have only now figured out a stop-gap connection. ANYWAY, as an apology I present this 1965 GMC Pickup offered for $2500 in San Jose, CA via craigslist.Sunday, April 8, 2018
We Love The 80's: 1987 Chevy Camaro Iroc Z

Now is a good time as any to get into a third generation Chevy Camaro or Pontiac Firebird/Trans Am. In recent years, the Smokey and the Bandit 1970's cars have seen some strong appreciation so bargain third gens are still out there. The Iroc-Z is a icon of the 1980's and boasted a real racing heritage. These Camaro's duked it out with the 5.0 Mustangs for king of the streets in the late 1980's when engines awoke from malaise era induced fog. The 5.0 305 Chevy V8 was and is second fiddle to the 350 5.7. However, only the 305 was able be paired with a 5 speed manual and in 1987 it only had 10 less hp than the top rung 350 Find this 1987 Chevy Camaro Iroc Z for sale in Newtown, CT for an easy on the budget price of $2,500 via craigslist. Fwd Powah: 2010 Chevy Cobalt SS

The turbo charged Cobalt SS is easy car to argue about. On one hand, it is one of the fastest fwd cars ever to lap the Nurburgring and very simple to add an extra 100 horsepower to the stout 260 hp stock engine. On the other hand, any Cobalt isn't going to impress your significant other Tuesday, January 30, 2018
Don't Call Me Chevelle- 1978 Chevy Malibu Classic

The new for 1978 Malibu took the Chevelle's place in the Chevy line up. The A-body Malibu went through similar downsizing and weight loss program that the Impala went through. It would not be a stretch to think of the square jawed Malibu as the American Volvo 240. Today's Malibu is particularly noteworthy because it has a measly 22,000 miles on the odometer. It is pretty shocking to find a forty year old non collector car in this mint of condition. Find this 1978 Chevy Malibu Classic for sale in Albany, NY for $3,495 via craigslist. Clean Swap: 1980 MG MGB V6

The MGB was a fantastic car when first introduced in 1962 and through the late 1960s...but it was getting long in the tooth by the 1980s when it was fitted with some awful looking rubber bumpers, and a smog restricted engine...but that shouldn't stop you from upping the power/fun with a Chevy V6 engine swap. Find this 1980 MG MGB V6 offered for $9500 in Kansas City, KS via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.Friday, January 19, 2018
Clean G: 1987 Chevy Monte Carlo LT1 Swap

In 2018 the number of two door coupes available from car manufacturers are few and far between, but back in the 1980s they were literally everywhere. The General Motors G-body cars included the Chevy Monte Carlo, Buick Regal, Oldsmobile Cutlass, and Pontiac Grand Prix. With the exception of the Grand National and T-Type, these were not particularly sporting or fast cars. However, they coupes are one of the last rwd body on frame designs which make them desirable to muscle car fans without a baller budget. Starting about ten years after these cars were discontinued, V8 engines started making a ton more power stock than the roughly 140 hp wheezed out from the factory. Today's Monte features a 300hp engine/trans swap from a 1996 Corvette. The G-body cars now also have a host of modern suspension components via the aftermarket that can turn these into a decent handling and much more modern feeling car. Find this 1987 Chevy Monte Carlo for sale in West Babylon, NY for $6,000 via craigslist.

Blues Mobile: 1974 Datsun 260Z V8

The 1974 Datsun 260Z was an evolution of the original 240Z that was first released in 1970 but it was only a one year affair before it was replaced by the 280Z in 1975. Regardless, the relative rarity of this car didn't stop an owner from transforming it into an unholy Chevy V8 powered beast. Find this 1974 Datsun 260Z V8 offered for $13,500 in Bothell, WA. Star Wars Special: 1977 Chevrolet Nova

Remember that Star Wars Christmas Special -- the one where Bea Arthur sang a song in the Mos Eisley Cantina and then everybody does hallucinogenic mushrooms and watches cartoons...yeah, that was a terrible combination of machines and men but this next thing from 1977 (the year Star Wars hit the big screen) might renew some hope for the future of the galaxy. Who Is Paul Normand? 4 Classic Recreations

I'm gonna come clean with everyone here and admit that I wasn't familiar with the name Paul Normand, until yesterday. But, Paul isn't a Carroll Shelby or John DeLorean character who worked with big budgets, and instead is an old time hot rodder who cranks out a few cars a year. The result is that when the spring thaw comes to Rochester, New Hampshire, a few lucky folks can buy one of his creations. Right now a seller named o07hoopty claims to be an exclusive broker and has four of Paul's masterpieces on eBay.Saturday, February 4, 2017

Bad Advertisement: 1986 Chevrolet Corvette

One of the keys to successfully listing a car on Craigslist or Ebay is having a title that easily comes up in a search. Good deals can often be found on listings with some sort of flaw or flaws that hide the ad from potential buyers. For example, if you list car as a Vette instead of a Corvette, not that many Corvette buyers will see your ad. 'Merage: 1977 Chevrolet Monza Mirage

Back when the Vega came out, everyone knew it already needed more of just about everything. The Monza, an evolution thereof, kinda-sorta satisfied that but Chevy really phoned it in. Now with 50% more ‘Merica, the Monza Mirage was an IMSA inspired and dealer affixed package that usually came with a V8 but never failed to deliver in a screaming eagle Amerigasm, half-empty Budweiser-to-the forehead kind of way. Find this 1977 Chevrolet Monza Mirage for sale in Round Lake, IL for $12,500.

Does It Run: 1972 Chevrolet Nova

The term nova, with regards to astronomy, is attributed to the noted Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe who described the phenomenon in his book De Nova Stella (Latin for "Of the New Star"). It is a sudden brightening of a star that occurs in binary star system when one star (usually a white dwarf) pulls a big chunk of hydrogen from the surface of its companion star and a cataclysmic runaway nuclear explosion occurs. It can't be possible that GM knew the fabulous Corvair would crash/burn while the Nova would run away with the crown as GM's top compact back in the early 60s...but it sure looks that way. Find this 1972 Chevrolet Nova offered for $6,500 in Rincon, GA via craigslist. Tip from Fuel Truck.
