Star Wars Tribute: 1979 Dodge Van

This next van, like all vans, exudes a certain degree of sketchiness...not to the level of the infamous "Free Candy" van, but its on the spectrum.  However, with the sweet Star Wars graphics, rad staggered mag wheels, and roof mounted wing, you are far more likely to attract 40-something year old men named Kevin instead of little kids. Nonetheless, you will attract something and let's just hope you lean towards the light instead of the dark side because I would totally go for a ride in this thing and my name isn't Kevin.  Find this 1979 Dodge Van offered for $9800 in San Antonio, TX via craigslist.

Mail The Force Be With You: 1984 Jeep DJ5 Star Destroyer

I love weird stuff.  Really.  Bizarrods, Citroëns, and rare French cars really get me going in the morning..but NOTHING beats a good homage to the Stars...not celebrities, but Star Trek or Star Wars.  And this next one is a dooooozy. Find this 1984 Jeep DJ5 Star Destroyer offered for $1000 in Houston, TX via craigslist. Tip from Jeff.

Star Wars Special: 1977 Chevrolet Nova

Remember that Star Wars Christmas Special -- the one where Bea Arthur sang a song in the Mos Eisley Cantina and then everybody does hallucinogenic mushrooms and watches cartoons...yeah, that was a terrible combination of machines and men but this next thing from 1977 (the year Star Wars hit the big screen) might renew some hope for the future of the galaxy.  Find this 1977 Chevrolet Nova here on eBay bidding for $6,300 reserve-not-met with buy-it-now of $11,000.

Thursday Twister: May The 4th Be With You

Today is Star Wars day -- May the force be with you!  Can you believe that Star Wars is 40 years old? To give some reference, the corollary to Star Wars back in 1977 was a movie that came out in 1937, like Shirley Temple's Heidi or Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.  Now, do you feel old?  I do!  Anyway, to celebrate Star Wars day, today's Thursday Twister is for you guys to pick your favorite car from 1977.

Repeat Offender: 1977 Bradley GT w/ Corvair Flat-6

Just in time for Star Wars day, this Bradley GT is back for sale from what is likely the same seller. The Bradley GT was a stylish kit car that used a Type 1 Beetle donor car, but somebody realized that the Corvair engine is far superior and updated this one to a Bradvair.  Find this 1977 Bradley GT w/ Corvair Flat-6 here on eBay offered for $2,800 buy-it-now or make-offer, located in Oconomowoc, WI with 8 days to go.

Use The Farce: 1980 Ford E250 Van

This next custom built monster is modeled after an imperial troop transport vehicle from some Star Wars extended universe cartoon, but I'd say it looks more like a rolling refrigerator with a few guns mounted up front.  Find this 1980 Ford E250 Van offered for $1,500 in San Leandro, CA via craigslist.  Tip from Rock On!

Coffee Brake: What Do You Want For Christmas?

Time for DT's Coffee Brake, where the coffee is over ice and the eggs are over easy.  Speaking of easy....it is easy enough to know what you DON'T want for Christmas -- a Prius, syphilis, a jar full of hungry spiders with a lid made from graham crackers, or a night on the town with Martin Shkreli -- but the hard question is what do you want for Christmas?

Thursday Twister: Star Wars Edition

Welcome to another edition of DT's Thursday Twister, the game that keeps giving, and today we venture into the land of fantasy.  Episode VII heads into theaters this week, and I think it would be a good time to venture into the Star Wars universe -- naturally here is where things get geeky.   The question is simple, what is your favorite vehicle from Star Wars?

10k: Vadered Out: 1973 Saab Sonett Custom

If you've been following the news recently, you may have read that Jake Lloyd, the actor who played young Anakin Skywalker in that terrible Star Wars prequel, was involved in a high speed chase that ended in a car crash and incarceration.  The problem was that Lloyd was driving a Nissan Maxima, a great car for a family, but terrible for police chase, even if you are a budding young Sith Lord.  If Ani needs to evade the Jedi peacekeepers in the future, he should get this 1973 Saab Sonett Custom offered here on eBay for $10,000 buy-it-now, located in Woodinville, WA.  Tip from Robert.

May The 4th Be With You: 2005 Chevrolet Silverado LT 2500HD

Geeks around the world celebrate May 4th (and its groan inducing pun) as Star Wars day with a commemoration of all things that were great associated with the original trilogy (Ep 4,5,6).  We will not speak about the intolerable abomination that was Ep 1,2,3, but instead join in the fun with this tailgate mural'd 2005 Chevrolet Silverado LT 2500HD offered here on eBay currently bidding for $200 reserve-not-met located in Selma, OR.

5k: Having Another Episode: 1971 Volkswagen Bus

Star Wars fans are currently on edge waiting for the release of the third installment of Star Wars movies, this time produced by Disney and directed by J.J. Abrams.  The original Star Wars trilogy was a masterful work of cinema, but the three more recent movies, directed by George Lucas, can be described at best as filling in the Star Wars narrative, and at worst as Lucas flinging Bantha poop at your childhood memories.  Episodes 1, 2, and 3 were really horrible movies (in a category with the unwatchably mesmerizing Star Wars Holiday Special) so why you would choose to decorate your 1971 Volkswagen Van with images from those abysmal films is completely lost on me.  Find it here on craigslist, located in Los Angeles, CA for $7,900.

15k: Star Wars Summer: 1974 Chevrolet Corvette, Custom C3

The Corvette was a medium sized class of interstellar transport ship, smaller than a frigate but large enough to be considered a capital ship.  One of the more famous Corvette class ships was the Tantive IV, used by that rebel scum Leia Organa to transport leaked classified technical specs for the peaceful Life Sphere to a terrorist organization loosely affiliated with Al Qaeda, known as "The Rebellion."  Subsequently, the leaked data permitted a band of suicide squad flying terrorists to drop a weapon of mass destruction into the Life Sphere's reactor core causing the death of over 100,000 unarmed civilian contractors and a greater number of uniformed Republic soldiers in the Holocaust at Yavin. It was as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced.  Find this 1974 Chevrolet Corvette custom for sale in Jefferson Hills, PA for $12,500 via craigslist.
