Dolph's Ride: 1963 Volvo Laplander L3313

I was watching this sweet Volvo Excavators advertisement on the youtubes when I pointed out to a friend that Dolph is driving a sweet old Ford pickup and my pal brazenly stated it was because there was nothing old school cool from Volvo that Dolph could drive...which was a complete load of steaming moose pucky because I could pick 50 different old school Swedish rides for the Lundgrenader.  Here is a 1963 Volvo Laplander L3313 offered for $6000 in Albuquerque, NM via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

A What? 1945 Studebaker M29 Weasel

I can't see Tesla building self driving tanks if we went to war with North Korea, but back during "the war" most of the American industrial machine was turned into a war machine and we created things like the M29 Weasel by Studebaker.  Find this 1945 Studebaker M29 Weasel offered for $5000 in Fayetteville, AR via craigslist. Tip from Ryan.

Tanks a lot: 1942 Cadillac M3A1 Stuart Tank

Unlike the recent wars the U.S. has been involved in, the Second World War was an existential threat to the nation, if not to the world's democracies.  As such, American industry was mobilized to produce war materiel.  You would expect that the auto manufacturers to produce wheeled vehicles, but International Harvester produced infantry rifles (M1 Garrand) Ford produced heavy bombers (B-24 Liberator) and GM produced armored tanks.  Find this 1942 Cadillac M3A1 Stuart Tank for sale at the Normandy Tank Museum Auction in Catz, France for an estimated 80,000 to 140,000 Euro (estimated 90,000 to 157,000 USD).

In 1943 the tide in the Pacific was beginning to turn with allied victories on Guadalcanal, the Bismark Sea and Tarawa. 10k: Canadian Military Pattern: 1943 Chevrolet CMP Heavy Utiliy Machine ZL-1

Memorial Day was yesterday, so why not post another cool military ride. The CMP (Canadian Military Pattern) truck was a military vehicle built from pre-war designs created by various Canadian manufacturers for British Commonwealth ally use.  The CMP was essentially a larger version of the US Army Jeep -- a communal design built by anyone with a foundry and sheet metal die capability.  Of the various versions made only a few were produced for wireless set repair specification as the repairmen found the vehicle too small for the required job.  Find this 1943 Chevrolet CMP Heavy Utiliy Machine ZL-1 currently bidding for $8,431.61 CAD ($7,750 USD) on ebay located in Vancouver, BC, Canada with a few hours to go.

5k: Happy Thorsgiving: 1963 Volvo L3314 Laplander Military 4x4

We at the Daily Turismo are sick of letting the Pilgrims get all the glory for the Thanksgiving long weekend celebration.  While all the "conventional historians" talk about Columbus discovering America and Pilgrims eating some silly lunch with Native Americans, we are surprised how few people know the real story of the first Thorsgiving.  It was a balmy Thursday circa 1000 ad when Leifr (son of Thjóðhildr and Erik the Red) landed in modern day Newfoundland and met up with a group of strangely dressed Pan-Asiatic nomads.  These "natives" and the viking ate a feast of lingonberry jam on pheasant and afterwards shared an ancient sketchbook to Leifr.  The book has been long lost in history, but to this day Leifr's descendants swear it contained crude drawings of V4 powered dog-sleds, 2-stroke engines with centrifugal couplings, boxy ox-carts, plans for underpowered 4X4 military vehicles and well....lots of nekkid people. Unconventional historians say that this chance meeting (aka the first Thorsgiving) led to a lineage that bred cars such as this 1963 Volvo L3314 Laplander Military 4x4 for sale in Auburn, CA for $7,500 via craigslist.  Thanks to the multiple tippers who sent this in, but Andrew MC was first!

3k: Only A Jackass Would Pass On This: M-274 Mule

The M274 Mule is an all-purpose 4WD off-road truck/quad/tractor that can carry up to 1/2 ton of equipment and drive just about anywhere.  Most aren't street legal as they are essentially a military flat-bed quad, but we could imagine one titled as a kit-car or some other creative method to get plates on it. Mules were used at workhorses in the military fleet from the 1950s-1980s and later replaced by the John Deere Gator.  Today M247s are sought by collectors for their unique style and general mayhem potential.  Find this bargain M274 Mule for sale in Albuquerque, NM for $2800 via craigslist.  Thanks to tip from Paul M.

5k: 1969 Kaiser M109 Military Truck

It is a well known fact that ex-miliary vehicles make some of the best recreational vehicles...well maybe not a fact, but certainly a common thought amongst lunatics, survivalists and bitcoin currency advocates.  For those who spend as much time off road as on the silk road, this 1969 Kaiser M109A3 2.5 ton 6x6 military cargo van is something you should risk a trip to Chatsworth, CA and buy for $6000 (USD please, no digital currency please!).
