The list of small 4-door pickup trucks isn't very large -- a fact pointed out by the builder of this custom machine, who writes: I built this because I have always felt that the US manufacturers totally missed the boat on the mid-size 4-door pickup market. They built some – but they were all weird-shaped, weird-looking, independent front suspension garbage with too much motor and not enough simplicity. Dodge Dakotas, Chevy Colorados (or those really rare and weird 4-door S10s) Ford Exploder, etc. At least the Fords were kind of square for a while.  I love the idea of a rugged 4-door pickup and this thing with a built-in tool/gun/ammo box looks ready to rock. Memorial Day was yesterday, so why not post another cool military ride. The CMP (Canadian Military Pattern) truck was a military vehicle built from pre-war designs created by various Canadian manufacturers for British Commonwealth ally use.  The CMP was essentially a larger version of the US Army Jeep -- a communal design built by anyone with a foundry and sheet metal die capability.  Of the various versions made only a few were produced for wireless set repair specification as the repairmen found the vehicle too small for the required job.  Find this 1943 Chevrolet CMP Heavy Utiliy Machine ZL-1 currently bidding for $8,431.61 CAD ($7,750 USD) on ebay located in Vancouver, BC, Canada with a few hours to go.

15k: Zetec Power: 1984 Volkswagen Vanagon Bostig Conversion

The Volkswagen Vanagon Type 2 (T3) was launched in 1980 as a replacement to the aging VW Transporter (aka Hippie Bus, Kombi, MicroBus) Type 2 (T2).  The Vanagon (as it was called in North America) continued the VW tradition of air cooled flat-4 in the back, but was styled in a more angular fashion and added all sorts of amenities like power steering, air conditioning and power door locks.  Don't get me wrong, it is still a thoroughly horrible driving experience akin to riding on the back of a three-legged camel, but it is much more modern and less tippy or terrifying than driving a T2 Bus.  However, you can fix the power deficiency with a kit from a company called Bostig who supplies everything you need to convert to Ford Zetec power.  Find this 1984 Volkswagen Vanagon Bostig Conversion currently bidding for $5,100 and $17,800 BIN with 6 days to go in Jean, NV via ebay.

The Pinzgauer High Mobility All Terrain Vehicle is a family of 4X4 military vehicles built from 1971 to 2000 by Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG in Graz, Austria.  Named after an Austrian breed of horse, the Pinzgaur was the result of military light troop transport needs but makes a surprisingly good 4X4 apocalypse prep, weekend fun or daily driver for the criminally insane.  Find this 1975 Pinzgauer 710K 4x4 currently bidding on ebay for $12,100 with 5 days to go, located in Dumont, CO.
