The Pinzgauer High Mobility All Terrain Vehicle is a family of 4X4 military vehicles built from
1971 to 2000 by Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG in Graz, Austria. Named after an Austrian breed of horse, the Pinzgaur was the result of military light troop transport needs but makes a surprisingly good 4X4 apocalypse prep, weekend fun or daily driver for the criminally insane. Find this 1975 Pinzgauer 710K 4x4The 710K denotes a 4X4 model (712 models are 6X6) with a hardtop station wagon style setup (M is soft-top 10-passenger, T is flat bed and AMB are ambulance varieties). Out of all the Pinzgauer setups it is the most friendly for a lunatic who wants to drive this every day. Seriously, if you had a short commute how is this any different from a Land Crusher or HD pickup? Other than being better in every way, of course.
Imagine you've finished your Costco shopping and are picking the kids up from soccer practice -- another parent asks if you can help shuttle his kid to karate, Celtic dance or some other expensive/worthless activities that will never translate into anything -- not enough room in the Mazda CX-7 or whatever mid-sized SUV "normal" people purchase, but in the Pinzgauer it isn't a problem in the least bit. You could tow a bus out of a ditch and ford a river on the way home.

Okay, I officially love this. As a reluctant soccer dad (their mother's idea) I would relish the horrified/disgusted looks on the other parents' faces as I motor up in this monster to drop off the kids.
