Oct 20, 2013: The Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider was a gorgeous drop-top two seater from Italy, styled by Carlo Felice Bianchi "Cici" Anderloni and built from 1958 to 1961. Most examples trade in the $40k price range when it pristine condition and are powered by one of Alfa's small and sweet inline-4 cylinder engines. Today's feature has double the cylinders, but half the price and will have the Alfisti screaming bloody murder...it's awesome. Find this 1959 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider with Chevy V8 and 4-spd for sale in Santa Cruz, CA for $15,000 via craigslist. Tip from Kaibeezy. Update April 28, 2013: This 1959 Alfa Romeo Spider with V8 is still for sale, now without pictures but with a simple statement from the seller "Can be seen on website Daily Turismo." Perry here. Those seats are tall buckets from some other car with cheap covers on them. I would say that simmilar "craftsmanship" can be expected on the rest of it.

The way prices have gone totally nuts on some cars I find it terrific to learn about these hybrids of styling and reliability (a/k/a bastardized cars according to those who are less than charitable about these matters). Well-done V-8 swaps make me smile. Hope this was done well.

ReplyDelete$40K? Pristine examples are more like $70K now. Even without the engine this car might get $15K. But that's assuming there's a chassis under there along with the engine.

This ad is a perfect example of how to get random questions from weirdos on the internet, but prevent any people who may actually be interested in buying the car for themselves from considering it for purchase. It's the "casual encounters" of car listings.
I wonder if the guy would charge me to come have a "casual encounter" with it.
